Install Bellawood floors in your home.
Bellawood provides many types of pre-finished floor planks to use in hardwood floor installation. Bellawood floors come with a 50-year certified finish warranty. It's possible to install Bellawood flooring on wooden subflooring or concrete using either nails or glue, although nailing the flooring down is preferable. Because Bellawood sells their products through wholesale outlets and directly to their customers, it's an economical choice for hardwood floor installation. You can install Bellawood flooring in your home if you have basic carpentry skills.
Instructions
1. Clear all debris from the subflooring. Hammer protruding nail heads into the wood. Place a layer of felt paper over the subflooring to deaden noises and help prevent squeaks. Staple the felt paper in place.
2. Measure the width of one board including the tongue plus a ½-inch allowance. Mark this measurement with a chalk line along the longest wall to show where the first course of flooring goes.
3. Select the pieces to go along the wall. Put a bead of carpenter's glue around the edge of the pieces that you are setting along the wall. Set them in place with the groove facing the wall. Place nails through the top of the wood close to the wall to further hold the pieces in place. Use a punch to push the nails below the surface of the wood.
4. Connect the first piece of wood in the next line by using the tongue and groove. Use the pneumatic nailer and rubber mallet to secure the board to the floor. Place the nails where the tongue forms a right angle to the top of the plank. If the nail doesn't go all the way through the top of the tongue, use the hammer to push it on into the wood.
5. Continue nailing the wood down on the tongue as you cover the floor with wood. Do this until you can no longer use the nailer. When the rows of wood get too close to the wall to use the nailer, hammer the nails in by hand or pre-drill holes with a drill to make it slightly easier to start them. Countersink all nails so they don't show. Complete the installation in this manner.
Tips Warnings
Acclimate the Bellawood flooring to the room where you are installing it for several days before the actual installation. This helps to bring the wood's moisture level in line with that of the room.
Set aside any planks that have damaged edges. You may be able to use them by cutting the bad section off.
Stagger the end joints throughout the installation so that no two joints match on adjoining rows. Cut the wood planks if necessary to make them fit the length of the room.
Always set the nailer and other tools on the felt when you're not using them to avoid scratching the surface of the floor.
