Kidde produces the 1275 smoke alarm, an ionization smoke detector that uses a small and harmless amount of a radioactive element to detect traces of smoke. Kidde created the 1275 model to be used as a single standalone detector or wired as part of the series using an interconnected system. The model also contains a tamper-resistant frame. The detector is powered by a 120-volt AC adapter and contains a 9-volt backup battery that can be replaced as necessary.
Instructions
1. Rotate the alarm clockwise to disconnect it from the trim ring.
2. Locate the AC power connector on the back. Squeeze the connector's locking arms together and pull gently to remove the connector.
3. Open the battery door by pulling the latch.
4. If a battery is already in the compartment, remove it. Unplug the connector from the battery.
5. Attach the connector to the new battery.
6. Insert the battery into the compartment.
7. Replace the battery cover.
8. Attach the AC power connector by inserting it into the slot until the locking arms click into place.
9. Align the detector with the trim ring and rotate counterclockwise to lock in place.
Tips Warnings
The detector will alert the owner if a battery is low by making a short chirp every 30 to 40 seconds.
The battery reminder finger is located on the inside of the battery compartment and is held down by the battery. If it is not pressed down by the battery, the compartment door will not close and the AC power connector will not attach properly.
