Make Vip Pass Invitations

Make VIP Pass Invitations

If you are planning a Hollywood or Rock Star birthday party for your teen or tween, consider sending invitations that look just like real backstage VIP passes. The passes can inform guests about the bash and serve as fun, wearable party favors. These invitations would also be great to send to special guests of a school recital or drama production, a dance party or a concert-themed dinner party. You can make them using items found at any office supply or department store.

Instructions

1. Start Microsoft Word and open a new, blank document. On the Insert menu, click on Text Box. Make a text box that is 5 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide. Click inside the text box, and point to Picture. Choose Clip Art or File, if you want to use a picture from your computer. If you choose Clip Art, search for a graphic you like. Some ideas include red carpet or VIP. Once you have found the graphic you like, insert it.

2. Resize and move the graphic as you want it to appear. For example, you might want to make it the background for the whole VIP pass. If so, right-click the picture and click Format Picture. On the Picture tab, in the Color box, choose Washout so that your text will show over the graphic. Otherwise, center the graphic near the top, middle or bottom of the pass. You may also need to resize the text box again.

3. Go to the Format menu and choose Font. Pick a font for your text and change the size. Arial Rounded MT Bold, Batik Regular and Broadway are some good choices, but you can be creative. Small caps is a good effect, also. Add the basic party details, such as time, date and location. Add RSVP details as well. Type in a large, bold line that reads All Access Pass. If desired, you can add another graphic.

4. Go to the Tools, point to Letters and Mailings, and click on Envelopes and Labels. Click on Options and choose the label number 5168. Click OK, choose Full Page of Same Label, and click New Document. A new page with four labels will open.

5. Go back to the document with the VIP pass you created. Press Ctrl+A to select all the parts. Go back to the document with the labels. Click inside the first label and press Ctrl+V to paste the pass inside. Click and paste in the remaining four labels. Save and print the pass on card stock.

6. Cut the passes out individually. Laminate them using the heat-sealing laminating paper or two sheets of clear contact paper. Punch a hole in the top of each and insert a lanyard.

Tips Warnings

Mail the invitations in small manila envelopes.

If you cannot find lanyards, use a length of cord knotted at the ends.
