Convert Robogear To Warhamer 40k

Robogear is a tabletop miniatures game set in the far future in which machines of war include walking tanks with heavy artillery. The game is heavily influenced by Warhammer 40,000, one of the oldest and most successful science-fiction tabletop wargames. However, unlike Warhammer 40,000, Robogear achieved little success and is no longer supported in the United States. Robogear models resemble the units of the Imperial Guard, and if a hobbyist does not want to invest in expensive Warhammer 40,000 figurines, he or she can use Robogear models for casual play.

Instructions

1. Organize the Robogear miniatures into three groups: infantry, vehicles and walking tanks. Infantry and vehicles have different point values and roster associations in the Warhammer 40,000 rules.

2. Use the Robogear infantry units to represent the Imperial Guard Cadian Shock Troops. The Robogear infantry units resemble the Cadian Shock Troops, which, aside from an elaborate back story, are basic foot soldiers in an Imperial Guard army.

3. Use the Robogear vehicles to represent Imperial Guard tanks and aircraft. The Varan and Helix can be used as Manticore Missile Launchers, the Hurricane for a Hydra Flak Tank and the Demolisher for a Leman Russ Battle Tank. The flying vehicles Sprut and Thunder can be used for Valkyrie Assault Carriers.

4. Use the Robogear walking tanks to represent Imperial Guard Sentinels. The Sentinels of the Imperial Guard are bipedal vehicles bearing heavy weapons. The Robogear T-Rex, Gryphon, Werewolf, Salamander, Raptor, Locust, Spider and Mad Bull walking tanks can be used as Sentinels.

5. Create a basic Imperial Guard army using the Robogear miniatures under Warhammer 40,000 rules. Every Imperial Guard army requires a headquarters (HQ) squad and two Troop squads. The HQ squad includes a commander with four veteran soldiers and has a base value of 50 points. A Troop squad has 10 soldiers and is also worth 50 points. Overall, a basic Imperial Guard army has at least 25 units divided into three squads.

6. Expand the army until it meets the point value of the battle. Typical Warhammer 40,000 battles involve armies between 500 to 1,000 points. An Imperial Guard army can be expanded to include an extra HQ unit, four Troop squads, three Elite squads, three Fast Attack squads and three Heavy Support squads. Sentinels and Valkyries fall within Fast Attack while the tanks count toward Heavy Support. Consult the Imperial Guard army codex for further equipment options and point values.
