Change The Front Turn Signal On The 2005 Ford Expedition

The 2005 Ford Expedition came equipped with an integrated front headlamp. This type of headlamp includes the front turn signal bulb, as well as the high- and low-beam headlight bulbs. Accessing and replacing the front turn signal bulb is similar to replacing the headlight bulbs; however, the turn signal uses a different type of bulb from the headlight, so wearing hand protection while swapping out the bulb isn't necessary.

Instructions

1. Switch off the Expedition's headlight control knob. Make sure the engine is off. Open the hood.

2. Remove the two securing bolts from the top edge of the Expedition's headlamp, using a wrench. Slide the headlamp outward to view its back cover.

3. Turn the bolt on the back cover counterclockwise to loosen it (don't remove it), using the wrench. Pull off the back cover -- you will now see the bulbs and wiring attachments.

4. Find the turn signal -- the turn signal is the bulb mounted on the outer edge of the headlamp; the other bulbs are headlight bulbs.

5. Unplug the wiring harness from the turn signal bulb. Rotate the turn signal bulb socket counterclockwise. Slide it rearward to remove it from the headlamp.

6. Pull the glass bulb out of the socket and dispose of it. Insert the new glass bulb into the socket and push it down gently.

7. Insert the bulb socket into the mount and turn it clockwise. Plug the wiring harness into the connection.

8. Replace the back cover and tighten the bolt, using the wrench, to secure it. Insert the headlamp back into its mount, beneath the edge of the grille.

9. Tighten the two securing bolts on top of the headlamp, using the wrench.
