Make A Scrubbie

Make a Scrubbie

If you don't know crochet, you can still make a dish scrubbie. Nylon dish scrubbies take only a few minutes of time, and the result is a sturdy scrubbie that will powerhouse through grime on your pots, pans and dishes. Scrubbies can also be used in the tub or shower. Make a pile of colorful scrubbies for a fundraising sale or bazaar, use the scrubbies as stocking stuffers or attach a scrubbie to a wrapped gift in place of a ribbon.

Instructions

1. Press the 1/2-yard of nylon netting with a warm iron to remove folds and wrinkles. Lay the nylon netting on a flat surface.

2. Cut the netting into thirds. You will have three strips, each measuring 6 inches by 72 inches.

3. Stack one strip on top of the other, creating a stack of three strips. Secure the stack with pins or clothespins every 8 to 12 inches to keep the strips together.

4. Thread a yarn needle with nylon carpet thread or dental floss. Gather the nylon netting strips by stitching down the center of the stack of nylon netting. Stitch from one end of the stack to the other, using long basting stitches.

5. Hold both ends of the strips, then pull the thread carefully to gather the nylon netting strips to form a scrubbie. Wrap the thread securely around the middle of the scrubbie three or four times, then tie a secure double knot. Trim the thread.

6. Separate and fluff the layers of nylon mesh to form a round shape. Use scissors to trim any uneven netting.

Tips Warnings

Use one color of nylon netting or mix the colors of the three strips to make a rainbow scrubbie.
