Repair A Moen Single Lever Kitchen Faucet

Repair a Moen Single Lever Kitchen Faucet

As with any faucet, the Moen single lever kitchen faucet can experience problems that require repair. One problem with the Moen single lever kitchen faucet is leaking caused by a worn cartridge. The cartridge is attached to a lever inside the faucet body. When the lever is pulled or pushed, the cartridge controls the flow of water.

Instructions

1. Locate the water shut-off valve for the faucet under the sink and shut off the water supply.

2. Locate the set screw at the base of the lever. This screw holds on the lever. Use the proper size Allen wrench to loosen the set screw. Pull off the handle.

3. Pull off the collar by hand. The collar is just beneath the handle assembly.

4. Remove the packing nut at the top of the cartridge with an adjustable wrench.

5. Remove the horse-shoe shaped retaining clip towards the base of the cartridge with a pair of needle-nose pliers.

6. Pull the cartridge out with a pair of pliers. Keep in mind the position of the hole in the cartridge. You will need to install the new cartridge with the hole in the same position.

7. Install the new cartridge and replace the retaining clip, the packing nut and the collar. Finally, replace the handle and tighten the set screw. Turn on the water shut-off valve under the sink.
