Craft stores carry an assortment of boxes in tree, snowflake, snowman and reindeer shapes in various sizes for Christmas, and you can decorate the plain box or simply fill it with your matching shaped cookies and tie with a ribbon or bakers twine to complete the gift.
Chinese Take-out Containers
Take out containers are a useful size for individual cookie servings.
A familiar shape for anyone who gets lo mein or rice from the Chinese take-out restaurant, those little food containers with their metal handles hold small cookies and candies in serving sizes. Available at craft stores or party stores, you can paint plain white containers or simply fill them and tie with a bow. Use colored tissue paper to cushion the cookies and add a more festive touch. Stack cookies or toss handmade candies into the containers and watch your coworkers or family members open them with gleeful expectation.

Glass jars preserve cookies and can be used again by the gift recipient.
Canning jars are useful for packaging Christmas cookies. Clean large canning jars or pickling jars completely and line with wax paper and colored tissue paper. Fill with cookies and wrap a ribbon and tag around the jar. Place the jar in a tall box, similar to a shoebox, to ship. Make the package even more special by adhering a custom label on the front of the jar, which tells the recipient what type of cookies are inside and expresses holiday greetings.
Wrapper Tubes

Don't throw away all those old Christmas wrapping paper tubes. Instead, cover them with gift-wrap and use them to hold small round cookies. CD envelopes are plain white square envelopes with a clear plastic center made to hold computer compact discs. Seal the envelope with a handmade holiday sticker featuring some colorful graphics and greetings to add cheer to the presentation. For a larger gift, line up stuffed envelopes and place in a shoebox cushioned with colored tissue paper. A handy way to deliver individual cookies to coworkers, everyone will be impressed with your creative take on an office toss-out.
