Febreze can be used for removing odors from furniture as well as refreshing a room.
First introduced in the late 1990s, Febreze distinguishes itself from other odor eliminators by claiming to remove, rather than simply disguise, smell-causing particles. Since the initial introduction of Febreze fabric care, the product line expanded to include carpet care, air-freshening devices and scented candles. As a cleaning product, it can be used to remove odors from hard-to-wash fabrics such as upholstered furniture and draperies.
Instructions
1. Hold the spray bottle four to six inches away from the fabric surface, and aim the nozzle down.
2. Spray the area that needs cleaning until the surface feels slightly damp. The exact amount necessary to break down and remove odor particles varies with the fabric. Thick upholstery fabric will require more sprays than a thin drapery material. Avoid spraying Febreze on any delicate fabrics such as silk or satin.
3. Wait for the Febreze to dry on the fabric. Avoid contact before the material is completely dry and do not wipe off the excess solution. Febreze works by soaking under the surface fibers, breaking down the odor-causing bacteria and removing them with evaporation.
Tips Warnings
Deeper odors require more applications. Wait for the solution to dry before spraying it again.
As with any chemical solution, not all fabrics respond well to Febreze. Test a small inconspicuous area of fabric before using the product on a more obvious location.
