Hayward h300 pool heater

Hayward H300 Pool Heater

I have a model H300 Hayward millivolt pool heater. It is 9 years old. I am having trouble with it not starting. Problem has existed for 2 years. I replaced the gas valve last year and it helped but this year same problem. The pilot stays on OK. I suspect the pilot generator. What millivolt should it be reading at the gas valve? I did get it running last week by wiggling the wires at the different switches and connections. The only thing then was it wouldn't shut down by the stat. Stat set at 88 deg and it went beyond that and I had to shut is off manually. you should have a minimum 500mv
