Do It Yourself Class Reunion Invitations

Planning a class reunion requires organization skills to put together a fun party with a limited budget. To save money on the reunion, make the invitations instead of having them printed. If you have a home computer and the right paper, you can create a unique invitation that your former classmates will love.

Design and Wording

Many websites have free designs for cards and invitations that are available for download. Browse online to find the design that is appropriate for your class reunion Software also is available in office supply stores that will give you the tools you need to design your own invitations. An invitation specifically designed for your class might be a better choice for your class reunion. Use the symbols and colors of the school to make the invitation something special.

The wording of the invitation is important as well. Many invitations simply say what the event is and when it will be held. Try to include something that is unique for your class or school. Mention the football team or a popular phrase your classmates will instantly recognize.

Paper and Ink

Specialty printer paper is available for invitations in most office supply stores and stationery stores. Many of these specialty papers have designs already printed around the borders. Choose one that goes with your invitation design and wording or use blank paper if your invitation design is elaborate. When shopping for the best paper for your reunion invitations, buy a few pieces to sample. This will help you make your final decision.

To ensure the wording is crisp and clear on your invitations, run a few samples through the printer. Make sure the ink cartridges are full before you start. Keep an eye on the output of your printer to make sure the invitations are not fading and there are no missing words or ink on the page. Print two invitations per page to save even more money on your reunion invitations.

Go through each invitation when it is finished printing to be sure it is in usable condition. Print the envelopes from your guest list or you can write addresses by hand on each envelope for a personal touch.

Finishing Touches

Finishing touches make your invitations even more special. Ribbons and stamps can be used on each invitation. Scrapbooking supplies offer a number of options that will turn each invitation into a work of art.
