Make Camouflage Clothes

For anyone wanting to blend into their surroundings, camouflage clothing is essential gear. The key elements of good camouflage clothing consist of an effective color scheme matched with three-dimensional textures, which are designed to diffuse and blend the person's figure into the surroundings by fooling the eye. When employed together, a few simple elements work to alter the appearance of a person so he is unrecognizable. With just a few common items you can make your own camouflage clothes in designs to suit a host of environments. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Select three colors that most closely match the most prevalent few colors in the environment you wish to use the camouflage clothes in. Choose general colors, and don't worry about determining exact hues and tones. For instance, choose black, dark brown and dark green and don't worry about trying to find chestnut brown and pine-needle green.

2. Purchase plain-colored T-shirts from your local retailer in the color scheme you have selected. Avoid expensive fashion brands and designer names and go with more economically priced options. Select a heavy-weight long-sleeved T-shirt and two short-sleeved T-shirts in different colors. The long-sleeved T-shirt will be what is worn, and the other shirts will be used to add color and texture. Purchase a hat and pants in any one of the three colors of the T-shirts.

3. Cut the of the short-sleeved T-shirts into pieces of fabric in three different sizes. Cut small and large square pieces measuring 2 and 4 inches per side respectively. Also cut rectangles 6 inches long. Vary the shapes and sizes among the two different-colored T-shirts so that you have an assortment of shapes, sizes and colors.

4. Attach the pieces of fabric cut from the two T-shirts to the long-sleeved T-shirt by sewing them on. Attach the pieces of fabric in a mixed-up manner so that there are different colors, shapes and sizes scattered randomly about the long-sleeved T-shirt. Cover the entire long-sleeved T-shirt with the pieces of fabric and cut more if necessary. By attaching shreds of fabric you create a camouflage shirt that uses color combinations and three-dimensional textural elements.

5. Tie the 24-inch long piece of twine around the five small branches. Tie each branch to the twine with a secure knot, spacing the branches out evenly over the length of the twine.

6. Attach pieces of fabric to the hat in a similar fashion as in Step 4. Fasten the twine with small branches to the hat by circling the twine around the hat while it's being worn on the head, and tie the ends of the twine securely.

7. Attach pieces of fabric to the pants in a similar fashion as in Step 4.
