Color War Game Ideas For Camp

Arm wrestling can be used as a color war game.

Color wars is a game played at summer camps in which the players are divided into teams, each of which is represented by a specific color. The teams compete against each other in a variety of games, tasks and challenges. Color wars can go on for a number of days and the team with the most points when all competitions are finished is the winner.

Flag Capture

One idea for a color war game is to capture the other team's flag. Each team should have a captain who helps plan strategies for finding the flag. The teams can make up lists of clues and maps that will lead seekers in the right direction. The teams can also set up false clues and booby-traps. The first team to capture the other team's flag is the winner.

Sports

Sporting competitions such as baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, tennis, Frisbee, horseshoes, arm wrestling and even disc throws can all be used for color war challenges. The winning team of each event gets a point for their team in the color war competition. Other games to consider are archery, skeet shooting, rock climbing and the ropes challenge course.

Races

Races are another option for a color war game. Races can include swimming, bicycles, relay races, three-legged races, sack-races, 50-yard and 500-yard dashes and one- and five-mile races. The team that wins each race will receive a point for the color war completion.

Scavenger Hunts

Scavenger hunts can be an exciting and challenging activity for a color war game. Each team gets a list of several items they must find and the team to complete their list first is the winner. Items can include a variety of things that can be found all around camp such as acorns, pine cones, bird feathers, bird nests, sunglasses, swim goggles, camp brochures, colored socks, band-aids and even specific types of leaves or bugs.
