Places To Have Fun With Toddlers In California

The beach is one place to have fun with a toddler in California.

From movie stars to historic landmarks to glamorous beaches, there are plenty of attractions for adults in California. Yet there are many fun activities for toddlers in the Golden State, too. A day spent at one of its many beaches, children's museums, amusement parks or zoos are a few ways to have fun with your little one in California.

Beaches

Spend a day on the California seashore with your toddler. Here your toddler can find many ways to have fun, whether it's playing in the sand, picking up seashells or splashing in the water washing up on shore. Many California beaches also have parks set up for youngsters, including Mother's Beach in Marina Park of Long Beach. Here children can explore a park that includes an interactive whale, which shoots water from its spout at the push of a button.

Children's Museums

Entertain your child while helping her learn new things at a California children's museum. There are a number of these museums made just for kids located throughout the state, including the La Habra Children's Museum (lahabracity.com) in La Habra. Inside youngsters can play with multiple hands-on exhibits, including a train caboose from 1942, a dress-up room and a bus room where children can pretend to be a driver. There is also a carousel that runs every half-hour and a train room with a toy locomotive that fills the entire room.

Zoos and Aquariums

According to Zoo Directory, there are more than 40 zoos and aquariums in California -- many of which are a place to have fun with toddlers. Here, youngsters can watch many kinds of wildlife of the land and sea. For example, the San Diego Zoo (sandiegozoo.org) offers exhibits including giant pandas, a koala colony and a Polar Bear Plunge exhibit. Toddlers can also have some fun at this zoo's Children's Zoo, where they can get up-close to and pet a variety of animals.

Amusement Parks

California is full of amusement parks, many of which offer more than just twisted roller coasters and thrills; they also provide activities and areas made just for toddlers. For example, Legoland (california.legoland.com) in Carlsbad offers the Duplo Village, which was created for toddlers. Youngsters can take a calm boat ride on the Fairy Tale Brook or watch an interactive show at the Playtown Theater, among many other activities.
