Campgrounds On Military Installations

Many military bases in the United States offer camping areas for members of the Department of Defense.

The military offers many programs intended to provide inexpensive recreation and entertainment to its members. Many campgrounds in the United States are located directly on or near military bases, providing convenient access and discounted rates to military personnel. Because they are operated directly by the military, these campgrounds typically require visitors to be members or contractors of the Department of Defense, or immediate family members accompanied by an authorized person.

Camp Lejeune

The campground at Camp Lejeune is located just a short walk from the beach, and visitors have direct access to Atlantic coast activities such as kayaking and surfing. Both camper and tent sites are available, as well as full electrical and water hookup sites for recreational vehicles. Fully furnished mobile homes and lodges are also available for long-term rental. Other amenities include a laundry room, waste dump station, showers and restrooms.

Reservations for the Camp Lejeune campground are accepted up to a month in advance. Camping is open to active, reserve and retired members of any military branch or employees of Department of Defense agencies. A valid military or government agency identification card is required for entry.
