Summer Camps In East Texas

Spend a warm summer at camp in Texas.

Campers from across the country travel to east Texas to enjoy a number of the area's different camps. The warm Texas weather makes the state an ideal summer camp location, and most of the eastern Texas camps offer an extensive variety of outdoor activities for children of all ages throughout the summer months.

Camp Olympia

Located on Lake Livingston in Trinity, Texas, Camp Olympia was founded in 1968 by two University of Texas All-American football players. Today, the camp is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 16. Each camper is able to choose from 35 different activities in which to participate during their time at camp; activities include aerobics, canoeing, DVD production, SCUBA, track and field and weightlifting. Each activity class is taught by a camp counselor who is skilled in that which he is teaching. Starting in May and ending in August, Camp Olympia offers several different two and three week camp sessions. Registration is available online through the Camp Olympia website.

Pine Cove

Summer camps in several different locations--four near Tyler, Texas, and two near Columbus, Texas--are available through the Pine Cove program, which was originally founded in 1964. Pine Cove offers Christian overnight and day camps for children in 2nd through 12th grade, in addition to family camps. Camp activities include wakeboarding, ropes courses, paintball and horseback riding; overnight and family camps also include several special fun theme nights in which all campers can participate. Registration information is available on the Pine Cove website.

Camp Huawni

Camp Huawni, a co-ed overnight camp, is situated in the midst of eastern Texas forests, enabling campers to experience all that nature has to offer. Most camp activities take place outside, and include hiking, para-sailing, lounging by the pool and canoeing. For daily activities, campers are divided by age group; campers typically participate in six activities per day. In addition, there are several times in which the entire camp comes together for an activity.
