Emagination Computer Camps
Technology-loving children between the ages of 8 and 17 can participate in two-week overnight programs with the Emagination Computer Camps. Each day at camp includes three technology sessions that include learning to build remote-control cars and robots, designing computer games and setting up computer systems. The fourth session of the day includes physical activity through throwing footballs or playing capture the flag. Night activities include open gaming sessions, free computer lab time and opportunities for socialization.
Emagination Camps are held at the suburban college campuses of Mercer University in Georgia, Lake Forest College in Illinois, Bentley University in Massachusetts and Rosemont College in Pennsylvania.
Camp Buckskin
Located in Minnesota, Camp Buckskin runs an overnight summer camp tailored toward kids with special needs such as learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD or Asperger's. The camp accepts children between the ages of 6 and 18. On every weekday, campers go through six learning activities designed to teach social skills, teamwork and problem solving. The tasks are non-competitive to take pressure off the campers. The camp staff informs parents of the child's progress and provides tips to continue the learning process after camp has ended.
Young Actors Camp
The Young Actors Camp in Hollywood, California, is an overnight camp that gives children a chance to experience the film and television industries. Students take acting classes and participate in workshops with talent agents, Disney television and film stars, and other industry professionals. The camp accepts children between the ages of 8 and 18. Teenage campers older than 16 can earn college credits for the classes in the camp.
The Whale Camp
The Whale Camp based on Grand Manan Island in Canada teaches campers about marine biology in an interactive, natural environment. The camp offers one-, two- and three-week camps with the three-week camp considered the full experience. Students spend time at sea, observing and collecting data on whales and other marine animals. Other daytime activities include kayak trips, sensory exercises and learning experiences on various types of ecology. Evenings wrap up with games on the islands beaches. The Whale Camp accepts children between the ages of 10 and 17.
