Attractions In Wildwood New Jersey

The Jersey Shore is not only what you see on the television show. That show focuses on the northern portion of the New Jersey Shore. Wildwood is on the southern end of the state, just north of Cape May. Wildwood features three ocean piers and a boardwalk with rides, games and other entertainment along its entire length. The boardwalk itself is a destination, but several features of it stand out as tourist attractions.

Morey's Piers

Morey's Piers operates all three piers on the Wildwood, New Jersey boardwalk. They are Mariner's Landing Pier, Adventure Pier and Surfside Pier. Both Mariner's Landing and Adventure have an assortment of rides for all ages. Rides and activities on Adventure Pier target teenagers and adults with roller coasters, bungee, thrill rides and ones with freefalls from a high distance. Water parks are on Mariner's Landing and Surfside Pier.

Morey's has specials through the season from Memorial Day until September 1. From noon until 6 p.m., guests can buy wristbands permitting them to ride all except the "Xtreme Rides." These sell for various prices depending on the day of the week. One day each week, there is a 50 percent ride discount along with discounted games from noon until 6 p.m.

Fascination

Fascination is a game played at the Olympic Casino on 24th Street and the boardwalk. The game allows up to 80 people to play at the same time. The goal is to roll a ball toward a 5-by-5 grid of holes that activate corresponding lights on a game board. Like bingo, the first person with five in a row wins. Several times each day, Fascination offers a special allowing an hour's play for $5 or $6, as of 2010. The normal cost is 25 cents per game. Special games throughout the day let you win tickets for prizes if the person sitting next to you wins. There are bonuses for winning with five lights in a row of a specific color on your board. A coverall game, to fill all holes in your grid, plays twice a day. Players redeem winning tickets for arcade prizes.

Local Cruises

Wildwood offers a variety of ocean cruises ranging from sightseeing to fishing trips, and even one with a show on the water. Several companies operate dolphin and whale-watching cruises with schedules based on the time of year. There is even an evening cruise, which includes a buffet dinner. If watching dolphins and whales isn't your thing, there are fishing cruises that supply all the needed gear and bait. For children, a pirate-themed cruise allows youngsters to pretend they are pirates in an adventure that includes singing, fighting off other pirates with water cannons and finding a treasure. The kids get to keep a souvenir from the treasure.
