Homemade Paintball Armor

Learn make homemade paintball armor.

Paintball battles combine the thrill of team sports with the excitement of high-speed projectiles, without the danger of shooting real firearms. Even so, taking a paintball to the body, even with a few layers of clothing, can really hurt. Layering is one of the most effective ways to shield your skin from paintball welts, but several layers can be cumbersome and uncomfortable in hot weather. Fortunately, there is a lightweight alternative that will significantly decrease the pain resulting from well-aimed paintballs.

Instructions

1. Place your shower curtain on a flat working surface.

2. Cut away the curtain's topmost strip lined with hook holes using a pair of sharp scissors. On some curtain models, these metal brads often jingle when moved, which could easily give away your position during a paintball battle.

3. Wrap the shower curtain around your torso just under your armpits. Make a small mark where the edge overlaps with the rest of the curtain and another mark at waist level. Cut the curtain at these marks and tape the edges together, thereby creating a sleeve similar to a tube-top. This section will protect your chest, abdomen and most of your back.

4. Cut out a 2-foot-by-2-foot square in the shower curtain and then cut an 8-inch circle in the center of the square. Insert your head through the circle. Tape one side of the square to the top front edge of the previously created chest and back armor. Tape the opposite side of the square to the top rear edge of the same armor. This piece of armor will protect your shoulder blades and collarbones.

5. Wrap the shower curtain around both upper arms and cut to size, much like the first piece of armor. Cut the pieces out, wrap them around your arms and tape the edges together to make upper arm armor. Pull down the upper chest/back armor over your shoulders and tape it to your upper arm armor. Doing so will protect your shoulders and upper arms.

6. Repeat the procedure in Step 5 to create lower arm armor, thigh armor and lower leg armor. Connect these pieces to the central pieces of armor using strips of duct tape. Apply dirt to the underside of these strips to avoid getting them stuck to your clothes.
