Things For Kids To Do In Fond Du Lac Wisconsin

Fond du Lac is located in southeastern Wisconsin.


Fond du Lac, Wisconsin is located in at the southern tip of Lake Winnebago in Fond du Lac County. Residents and visitors to the city enjoy rich cultural heritage and recreational activities, especially for children. Fond du Lac kids have immediate access to a children's museum, a YMCA , a state-of-the-art sports complex and fine arts gallery.


Children's Museum of Fond du Lac


Kids ten and under will find a variety of experiential exhibits to entertain them at the Children's Museum of Fond du Lac (cmfdl.org). Toddlers can crawl through a network of tunnels at the Great Toddler Reef, and older children can take orders and make pizza at Pizzeria Frazioni, or produce Broadway musicals at the Big Apple Theater. The museum, located at 51 Sheboygan St., is a great place to spend the afternoon, have a kid's birthday party or visit with a group.


Fond du Lac YMCA


Kids in Fond du Lac can take advantage of inexpensive recreational activities available at the Fond du Lac YMCA (fdlymca.org). Located at 90 W. Second St., the center hosts First Friday Family Nights the first Friday of every month and is dedicated to providing a safe environment for children of all ages to engage in supervised activities. The facility houses indoor basketball and racquetball courts, dance studios, a gymnastics center, and a large lap pool. Sports and dance instruction are available for all age levels.


Do-It-All Sports Arena


Do-It-All Sports Arena has multiple indoor playing fields.


Athletically-inclined kids, or youngsters with a lot of energy to burn, will enjoy spending a day at the Do-It-All Sports Arena (doitallsports.com). Children can play a number of traditional sports, including basketball, football, roller hockey, soccer and volleyball on one of the facility's many indoor playing surfaces, as well as try a number of unconventional activities like Hi Ball, Jam Ball and Wally Ball. The sports complex, located on northbound US Highway 151, also features a rock climbing cave, paintball course, driving range and boxing ring.


Windhover Center for the Arts


Older kids with an appreciation for the arts will find a visit to the Windhover Center (windhovercenter.org) on Sheboygan Street to be a stimulating experience. The free art gallery houses an ever changing array of visual art exhibits, such as paintings, photography and sculptures. The center hosts live classical, jazz and contemporary music performances and screens both current and classic films. Windhover Center also hosts workshops, like the Open Arts Studio for Teens, where teenagers can nurture their artistic talents, and receive creative instruction and feedback from local artists.
