Free Children'S Activities In Baltimore

The city of Baltimore, also known as a "city of neighborhoods," has a wide range of cultural and exciting activities for people of all ages to enjoy. Keeping children amused in Baltimore doesn't have to be expensive and there are plenty of fun things to do that can be enjoyed all year round. The history-rich city offers fun, recreational, and educational activities that allow children to have fun.


Cylburn Arboretum


The Cylburn Arboretum is an environmentally friendly, 207-acre city park with over 20 different gardens, as well as one for children. The arboretum gives parents the chance to teach their children about the environment in a fun, educational way, free of charge. It features an assortment of gardens that include a vegetable garden, butterfly garden, and the children's garden. Kids have the opportunity to experience wildlife and birds in natural habitat on the 2 1/2-mile nature trail. The Cylburn Arboretum Association gives scheduled, educational, guided tours of the arboretum to the public.

Walters Art Museum


Established in 1934, Walters Art Museum is a public art museum that houses more than 20,000 works of art. The museum's art collection features world art from ancient Egypt to 20th century Europe, medieval artifacts, Greek sculptures, and many other ancient masterworks. The museum hosts an assortment of free activities for kids ranging from festivals, art projects, tours, and workshops. The Art Tots & Art Kids Preschool Programs are designed for children ages two to five, and give a hands-on experiences throughout the museum and take children on tours, story time, and art projects. These workshops are free of charge but do require pre-registration. Walters Art Museum also hosts Drop-In Art Activities where families are invited to create a piece of art relevant to monthly themes based on various exhibits and collections. No registration is required for Drop-In Art Activities and they are held every weekend.

Enoch Pratt Free Library


The Enoch Pratt Free Library is one of the oldest free public library systems in the United States, where its Central Library holds over 1.9 million books and media sources. The Pratt Free Library is a place where children can partake in a numerous amount of free, enriching activities. Kids will never get bored with the large selection of things to do, see, and learn. They can engage in traditional library activities like getting their first library card, checking out books and movies, and using the computers. They can also participate in one of the many scheduled events such as storytelling, arts and crafts projects, traveling exhibits, watching movies, puppet shows, and playing games. The library also offers summer reading and after school programs.
