Dance camps allow students to benefit from intensive tuition from experts.
Dance camps give both youngsters and adults the chance to enjoy intensive training from experienced instructors in a range of dance disciplines. A number of venues offer camps within the state of New Jersey, with both residential and nonresidential programs geared towards helping dancers of all standards hone their skills and learn new moves.
American Dance Training Camps
American Dance Training Camps hold summer dance camps all over America, including one in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The East Coast Intensive programs are offered by the week, with students able to focus on either hip-hop or jazz. Overnight camps include four hours of classes a day, with students invited to show off their new moves to their peers and families at a big Friday night performance, with other activities on offer including horseback riding, ice skating, swimming and paintball.
American Dance Training Camps welcomes students between the ages of 8 and 17, with discounted rates available for early bookers and returning campers.
Sixers Dance Camps
Alongside football camps, the Philadelphia 76ers also run dance camps for kids aged 7 to 13 across America, with the New Jersey summer camps taking place in Cherry Hill. The five-day long, nonresidential camps, give students the chance to hone their skills to age-appropriate music, including hip-hop and freestyle.
Alongside standard rhythm, the qualified teachers also take campers through moves such as turns, leaps and other tricks, with the students able to put these into practice in an end of week performance. Lunch and transportation are not included in the cost of a camp, though students are invited to try out for the Sixers Junior Dancers squad.
Center Stage Dance Camps
The Center Stage Dance and Theatre School offers summer dance camps at three locations in New Jersey, namely East Brunswick, Marlboro and Ocean. Camps are between three and six weeks in duration and divided into two age groups, 6 through 8 and 9 through 13 and, as well as standard programs.
Center Stage also offers hip-hop boot camps and camps designed for those youngsters who are serious about musical theatre. End of course spectaculars are held at the school's largest studio in East Brunswick, while regular shows are also staged at the city's State Theatre throughout the year.
Kelly's Dance Loft
Situated in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, Kelly's Dance Loft offers summer and holiday dance camps alongside regular evening and weekend lessons.
The school teaches a wide range of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip-hop, with everyone from complete beginners to advanced adult dancers welcome to sign up to its programs.
The strongest dancers at both the camps and the regular classes may be invited to join the KDL Competition Team and have the chance to compete at venues across the state of New Jersey during the school year.
