The Town
Cairo boasts historic buildings that date back to the 1800s. The town has main street shopping, a town hall, and a public library. The Mohican Trail and the Schoharie Turnpike are near the city. Outdoor Activities
In and around Cairo, nature enthusiasts can rent a cabin or apartment and take in the beauty of endless forests. Visitors only need to travel 5 miles southwest of Cairo to visit Catskill Park. Catskill Park features hiking trails, rivers, creeks, waterfalls and opportunities to see wildlife such as wildcats, bobcats, minks and black bears. Other activities include trout fishing, camping and skiing during the winter. Seven miles south of Cairo, the Bailiwick Ranch & Catskill has horseback trails, a zoo, and a paintball park. Lodging and Entertainment
Five miles southwest of Cairo, the Blackhead Mountain Lodge and Country Club offers a beautiful forest setting in which to golf, dine and hike. The lodge is located in the scenic Catskill Mountains. It features a five-star restaurant with a European environment, golf tournaments and lessons, conference rooms and luxurious rooming accommodations. The Freehold Country Pub, situated five miles north of Cairo, holds regular events such as karaoke, live music and pool tournaments.
