Duck Hunting In Liberty County Texas

In Liberty County, duck hunting is limited to six ducks per day.

Liberty County is located in east Texas' North Duck Zone, one of three duck hunting areas in the state designated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).

Season and Bag Limits

The Texas duck hunting season lasts from the fifth day of the fall through spring, and is announced annually on the TWPD website in the fall. Only six ducks may be retained per hunter per day in Liberty County. Additional restrictions apply regarding species, type of weapon used for hunting and special youth hunting dates. The per season possession limit is 12 ducks total per hunter.

Hunting Licenses

All Liberty County hunters must obtain a hunting license, which is available for purchase on the TWPD website. In addition, all hunters aged 17 and older must obtain a Texas Migratory Game Bird Stamp Endorsement, and all hunters aged 16 years and older must purchase a Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp, both of which are available online.

Where to Hunt

Waterfowl hunters in Liberty County frequent nearby Wallisville Lake, which is located within 22.8 miles of the county in Wallisville and is open for duck hunting.
