You can make a gun sight from a laser pointer.
The purpose of a gun sight is to delineate a target so that the projectile fired will hit it with as much accuracy as possible. You can make a gun sight from a commonplace laser pointer purchased from a hobby shop or electronics supply store. You will need a few household supplies but modifying the gun or disassembling the laser pointer is unnecessary. This simple procedure does not require specialized knowledge of how a gun sight works.
Instructions
1. Place an empty cereal box flat on a table with the front facing up. Draw a circle on the front of the cereal box with the pencil. Make a dot in the center of the circle with the pencil.
2. Cut three four-inch pieces of duct tape with scissors.
3. Place the gun on a table with the barrel facing to the right. Place the laser pointer on top of the gun barrel near the hammer. The reflector end of the laser pointer should also face to the right. Move the laser pointer forward six inches from the hammer.
4. Place a piece of duct tape over the reflector end and the back end of the laser pointer. Smooth the two pieces of duct tape down with your fingers.
5. Hold the gun with the laser pointer facing up. Place a small level on top of the laser pointer.
6. Twist the laser pointer back and forth until the bubble in the level is between the two lines that indicate level.
7. Place the four-inch piece of duct tape over the middle of the laser pointer. Smooth the duct tape down with your fingers
8. Stand the cereal box on a table with the circle facing you. Stand 10 feet from the cereal box.
9. Press the "On’ button on the laser pointer that is now a gun sight to turn on the laser beam. Aim the barrel of the gun at the circle drawn on the cereal box. Line up the laser dot from your gun sight with the dot on the center of the circle.
