Write A Birthday Invitation For An 18year Old

Give your 18-year-old a themed birthday party.

If you are throwing a birthday party for your soon-to-be 18-year-old child, consider crafting an original invitation that celebrates this huge rite of passage. A teenager who is 18 years old likely has graduated from high school -- or is getting ready to graduate. Celebrate the passage into adulthood with a witty, rhyming poem. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Select a theme for the party. Then, use that theme to inspire and form the wording for the invitation.

2. Brainstorm and write ideas for the wording on the sheet of scrap paper. Write down key words that describe your teenager's likes and personality. Write down key words that match the theme of the party. For example, if you are having a "Celebrity Buzz"-themed party, you might write down words such as Hollywood, stars, paparazzi and Angelina Jolie. You will use these words to form rhymes for your party invitation.

3. Write down the key party information that guests need to know -- who, what, when, where, why and dress.

4. Form your rhyme. Keep it simple. Here is an original example: "Julie turns 18; it's less than a week away! Come out to help us celebrate her big day! We're throwing a 'Celebrity Buzz' party, so dress up 'star style.' There will be dancing and eating and games from 7 p.m. until quite a while!"
