What Are The Different Co2 Regulator Connections

Gas is perfectly safe if stored and released correctly.

You need to release gas inside cylinders in a controlled way. This is where regulators come in. A regulator, also called a pressure regulator, is a valve that allows you to regulate the flow of pressurized liquid or gas. There are two main types: single-stage and two-stage. You connect a regulator to a cylinder using one of three main types of connections. Does this Spark an idea?

British Standard

British Standard carbon dioxide cylinder valves are used in Europe, Africa and large parts of Australasia. The thread conforms to British Standard BS 341 Part 1 No. 8. This is a 0.860 inch x 14 TPI thread. The "14 TPI" refers to a screw thread with 14 threads per inch. The European equivalent to this thread, effectively interchangeable with the British Standard, is DIN 477 No. 6. "DIN" refers to the Deutsches Institut fur Normung e.V., or the German Institute for Standardization. The Weldequip CO2 Gas Regulator is an example of a regulator with a BS connector.

American

American CGA 320 threads are commonly used for carbon dioxide cylinders in the Americas. "CGA" refers to the Compressed Gas Association, which develops standards for safe practices in the use and release of gas. If the middle digit of a CGA valve number is even, as with CGA 320, the thread is clockwise and vice versa. Clockwise (CW) means a right-handed thread and counterclockwise (CCW) means a left-handed thread. For ease of identification, CCW threads have notches cut into the closing nut. The AquaticLife CO2 regulator, which has an integrated solenoid valve controlled by a 120-volt electric current, is an example of a unit with a female CGA 320 thread.

Japanese

In Japan and other parts of East Asia, the JIS B 8246 thread is popular for connecting C02 regulators. "JIS" stands for Japanese Industrial Standards. The "B" refers specifically to mechanical engineering. The QF-2P2, manufactured by Jiangsu Xinya Valve Co. Ltd., is an example of a gas valve with a JIS B 8246 thread. Japanese regulators were the regulators of choice for East Pakistan's Urea Fertilizer Factory, since the tender was won by a consortium of five Japanese companies in 1958. The regulators were used in the decomposition of natural gas and in the urea department. The U.S. Chemical Construction Corporation was the fertilizer factory's inspiration, having pioneered many of the urea production methods.

What Are The Dangers Of Co2 Cartridges

Co2 cartridges can be as dangerous as the weapons themselves.

Co2 cartridges are used in a number of machines, such as bicycles, cars and paintball guns. Despite their rampant use, these cartridges can be extremely dangerous when stored or improperly used. A Co2 cartridge can maim or even kill, so extreme care should be taken when handling Co2 cartridges.

Explosions in High Temperatures

In Sumatera Paintball's conditions of use, the paintball company warns that a Co2 cartridge exposed to high temperatures can explode from increased pressure inside the canister. TriUK, a store that specializes in triathlon equipment, defines high temperatures for a Co2 cartridge as anything about 122 degrees Fahrenheit. The incredible force of a Co2 explosion can cause serious and possible permanent damage to the human body.

Oxygen Displacement in Enclosed Spaces

A publication created by the Pewee Valley Fire Protection District in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, touches on the fact that you should never stay in an enclosed space with a Co2 cartridge because Co2 displaces all of the oxygen. According to Chapter 50 in the book "Toxicology Secrets," carbon dioxide is a simple asphyxiant that is harmless when encountered in small doses in an open space. However, if the cartridge releases the gas in an enclosed space, you breathe in carbon dioxide instead of oxygen, causing you to quickly lose consciousness. Depending on how long you breathe in the Co2, critical organs could shut down from oxygen deprivation and you may never regain consciousness.

Brain Damage from Inhaling Co2

Intentionally huffing Co2 can lead to permanent brain damage. Inhaling Co2 instead of oxygen kills brain cells. According to the MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia, brains deprived of oxygen is a condition known as cerebral hypoxia. Possible complications associated with ceberal hypoxia include seizures, coma and even death.

Birthday Ideas For Adults And Children

Birthdays provide the date to focus on who is really important in our lives.

What is considered the "ideal" birthday party can vary greatly from one person to the next. The good news is that planning that special party to recognize someone's significance need not be difficult. With an abundance of companies that cater to birthday parties, the only challenge becomes settling on the one that best describes the person. Does this Spark an idea?

Young Children

For younger children consider hosting a birthday party at home using the child's preferred theme. If the child is interested in Sponge Bob Squarepant then rent a costume for the child and use party supplies that incorporate that theme. When the interest is in having Sponge Bob show up to the party, consider hiring an entertainer. If running around is the key to a successful party for the youngster then celebrate at an indoor playground for hours of climbing, running and sliding. If the child is fascinated with animals, consider a party at the local zoo or hire a mobile zoo service to bring exotic animals to the home. (Reference 1 & 2)

PreTeens

Party planners may cater to this group by offering laser tag or parties at a local movie theater. Laser tag offers group participation combined with light effects and fog. Movie theaters offer a private party room with a variety of food options and reserved seating in the auditorium for the VIP treatment. (Reference 3 & 4)

Teens and Young Adults

For partygoers seeking more excitement (or more relaxation), consider a paintball party or a spa party. Paintball provides the thrill of group participation with "bullets" that shoot up to 300 feet per second. Full gear is required for safety and waivers are usually required before entry. For more of a pampering experience, consider a party at the spa that offers massage, face treatments and manicures. Mobile spa services send trained staff to the home with the various treatments options. (Reference 5)

Mature Adults

Adults may consider hosting a casino party at home or renting a hall with mobile casino companies that can supply all the tables, games, decorating and dealers to keep the games going. If the party is to mark a momentous birthday such as 40 or 50, consider a cruise or vacation. Recapture the feeling of youth with a weekend road trip. Point the car in any direction and drive for the day before turning around to come home. (Reference 6)

Instructions For An Airsoft Gun

Airsoft is an activity in which participants take part in war games using replica weapons that fire plastic BBs with compressed gas. It's used as training for military and police units, in historical re-enactments and played as a sport, such as paintball. Airsoft is based around the use of the airsoft guns, which come in a variety of models. While airsoft guns aren't as dangerous as firearms or BB guns, they still must be handled properly to prevent injury.

Instructions

1. Take the magazine out of the gun.

2. Hold the empty magazine perfectly vertical in one hand and the gas canister upside-down and perfectly vertical in the other hand.

3. Line the nozzles of the magazine and canister up and position them together so they form a tight seal.

4. Press the canister straight down into the magazine. The length of time depends on the size of the magazine. A handgun usually takes three seconds; a five-round magazine can take five or six seconds. Read your instruction manual for the proper time.

5. Load the plastic BBs into the magazine, again following the instructions for the model of gun that you own.

6. Place the magazine into the gun.

7. Cock the gun, point at the target and shoot. When shooting, take proper safety precautions. Fire from a safe distance, and don't point the gun at a person or object unless you intend to shoot at them.

Make An Anodizing Tank

The aluminum parts of paintball guns are often anodized.

A rubber anodizing tank is an important part of the anodizing process. The tank must hold the water and sulfuric acid solution while electrical current is being applied to an aluminum part. An anodizing tank must be leak-free and large enough to hold the piece of aluminum requiring anodization. It must also contain a negative ground that will allow electrical current to flow through a piece of aluminum. Creating an anodizing tank should require less than 15 minutes.

Instructions

1. Cut a piece of aluminum wire with rubber sheath to a length of 4 feet---a length sufficient to attach the negative ground to a battery charger, which is used to create electrical current in anodizing applications.

2. Strip the rubber sheath from the first 12 inches of one end of the aluminum wire. Form a circle shape with the end of the stripped aluminum wire. The circle only needs to be a few inches wide and should be wrapped onto the edge of the stripped aluminum wire.

3. Cover the wire with a sheet of aluminum foil. The foil must be securely wrapped around the wire to prevent it from falling off.

4. Place the aluminum foil wrapped circle at the bottom of the anodizing tank. Attach the other end to the aluminum wire to a battery charger. Make sure the battery charger does not comes into contact with the anodizing solution.

5. Mix a solution of one part water to one part sulfuric acid. Carefully pour this solution into the anodizing tank when you are ready to anodize. There should be enough solution to cover the piece of aluminum that you plan to anodize. The anodizing tank is now ready to be used.

Fix The Trigger Of An M16 Airsoft Gun

The M16 airsoft-brand rifle uses compressed air to fire one projectile after another in imitation of the real weapon. A leaking mechanism in the trigger valve will cause gas to escape through the trigger when it is depressed. This will inhibit the M16 from working properly and must be repaired. You can fix the trigger valve of the M16 so that it will function correctly again within a few minutes and without any tools. You will need to disassembly the trigger section of the M16 airsoft-brand rifle before fixing the trigger.

Instructions

1. Put a soft cloth on a table. Place the trigger valve assembly on the soft cloth with the metal firing plug facing to the right. Unscrew the metal firing plug from the trigger valve assembly. Pull the metal firing plug out from the trigger valve assembly with your fingers.

2. Wipe around the bottom of the metal firing plug with an edge of the lint free cloth. Wipe around the trigger nipple at the bottom of the metal firing plug with a clean edge of the lint free cloth.

3. Moisten a cotton swab in light machine oil. Wipe the moistened end of the cotton swab around the bottom of the metal firing plug. Wipe another moistened cotton swab around the trigger nipped at the bottom of the metal firing plug.

4. Wipe around the threads at the end of the trigger valve assembly with a clean edge of the lint free cloth.

5. Moisten another cotton swab in light machine oil. Wipe the moistened end of the cotton swab around the threads at the end of the trigger valve assembly. Dispose of the cotton swabs and the lint free cloth in the trash.

6. Screw the metal firing plug back into the trigger valve assembly. Stop screwing in the metal firing plug when the two screws on its front are vertical to the top of the trigger valve assembly. The trigger assembly will no longer leak gas when the trigger it is attached to on the M16 airsoft-brand rifle is depressed

Differences Between Airsoft & Paintball

Airsoft players use variants of real-world weapons.

Extreme sports fans have a variety of combat simulation games from which to choose. Players don camouflage outfits, padded vests and select from any number of available imitation firearms in these games. Paintball and airsoft represent two of the most popular combat simulation games and share many similarities as well as striking differences.

Weaponry

Paintball ammunition comes in a variety of striking colors.

Players of the two sports fire at each other with imitation firearms, but the differences between the two types of weapon mark the largest difference between them. Paintball guns, known as markers, fire gelatinous balls of paint which then splatter on opponents creating a clear indication of a hit. Airsoft weapons fire plastic pellets and players recognize the hit through the sharp feel of the impact upon their bodies. Markers typically use a form of compressed gas to power their shots, while airsoft guns rely on electric or spring-powered mechanisms. Airsoft gun designs come from real-world weaponry, and their rates of fire and appearance mimic those of real guns. Paintball marker designers make weapons specifically for the sport and do not adhere to the appearance of any real-world guns.

Gear

Inflatable bunkers provide cover to paintball players.

Paintball players typically prefer padded body armor, typically made of machine-washable cloth, in colors ranging from striking orange to subdued hues of black and gray. Airsoft participants also use padded body armor, though natural and urban camouflage colors prevail. Airsoft players may carry an extra battery pack or springs for their weapons, whereas paintballers may refill their gas tanks after each match from a SCUBA center or paintball refill area. Both sports make use of natural terrain, but the inflatable bunkers used in paintball cannot stand up to powerful airsoft shots.

Tactics

Airsoft snipers must blend in with their terrain.

Both sports stress team play and squad dynamics. Paintballers typically bring the same weaponry to a match and determine their team roles based on experience and personal preference. An airsoft player's role on his team is determined by his armament. Airsoft snipers use long rifles, assault troops use assault rifles and grenades and shotgunners breach doors and close corners with airsoft variants of the real-world weapon. Airsoft also has additional roles not found on a paintball team. These include heavy weapons specialists that employ auto-cannons and pistoleers who often fulfill the role of team medic in longer scenario battles.

Customize Paintball Jerseys

Player wearing paintball jersey

Paintball is an extreme sport that can be both fun and competitive. A great way to show your team or dedication off to the other players is to customize the jersey. Paintball jerseys come in a variety of colors, yet there is so much more that can be done to a jersey, from creating a custom silkscreen name to adding patches. Customizing a paintball jersey will certainly make you stand out in the crowd.

Instructions

1. Decide on a name or nickname that can be displayed on the upper back portion of the jersey. Normally a first name or nickname is displayed in this area by using black and white or colored silkscreen letters. There should be no more than seven letters to the name due to the limited amount of space. Silkscreen letters come in all different shapes, colors and sizes. They can be purchased at embroidery stores or online.

2. Plug in the iron to a 110 volt outlet and allow the iron to heat up. Set the iron if applicable to the acrylic setting. This setting will allow for minimal heat, preventing the letters from being burned onto the jersey.

3. Place the letters on the back of the jersey evenly using the ruler as guidance. Depending on how many characters are used, the letters can be anywhere from 1 to 3 inches apart from one another. Once the letters are set in place, firmly press the iron on the letters for a few seconds. Do this until the letters are attached to the jersey.

4. Add to the jersey any desirable patches. These patches can include country flags, beliefs or paintball jargon. Patches can be purchased at embroidery stores and at paintball shops. Patches can be sewn onto the jersey using a needle and thread or ironed on in the same fashion as the silkscreen letters were put on. If the patch is sewn onto the jersey, start threading the needle through the patch and jersey starting at one point. Work the needle and thread around the patch until the patch is secured onto the jersey.

Anodize Aluminum To Produce Color

Anodizing is a process that increases the thickness of the natural oxide layer on a metal's surface. Aluminum oxides readily and is the most commonly anodized metal. Anodizing aluminum increases its corrosion resistance and improves the adhesion of its surface, making it easier to apply paint. The oxide layer created by anodizing can also be given a desired color. This method of coloring aluminum is generally more durable than simply painting it since the metal itself is colored.

Instructions

1. Make a negative ground for the anodizer. Form a round loop with one end of the aluminum wire and cover it with the foil to make a flat, round shape. Fill the rubber bucket with a solution 70 percent acid and 30 percent water. The solution should be deep enough to cover the aluminum part completely.

2. Clean the aluminum part. Put on the rubber gloves, mix 1 to 2 oz. nitric acid in 1 gallon of distilled water and soak the aluminum part in this solution. It is vital the surface of the part be completely free of all contaminants. Clean the aluminum just before anodizing it, as the fresh aluminum surface will oxide quickly. Rinse the aluminum part with distilled water thoroughly. Place the part in the bucket with the acid solution.

3. Clip the battery charger's negative lead to the negative ground you created in Step 1, and place it in the solution. Make sure the negative ground only touches the solution, not the aluminum part. Attach the battery charger's positive lead to the aluminum part and turn the charger on.

4. Allow the solution to anodize the aluminum part for about 15 minutes and turn the charger off. Disconnect the leads and rinse the part in cold water.

5. Mix a strong solution of dye and water in the cake pan and place the part in the pan. Put the pan on an oven burner and turn it to the lowest heat setting. Turn the part every few minutes to get a slightly darker color than you want. Place the part in clean, boiling water to seal the surface of the aluminum. The boiling water will remove some color from the aluminum.

What Is Is The Difference Between A Co2 Tank & A Compressed Air Tank

Compressed air is more consistant than CO2 as an air source for paintballs.

CO2 and compressed air tanks are two popular forms of air tanks that are used to power paintball markers. While both of these sources are suitable for most paintball markers, compressed air tanks are considerably better. Compressed air tanks are more efficient and are much more consistent. A paintball marker utilizing compressed air can shoot faster and more reliably. These benefits are due to the contents of the air tank and the design of the air tank as well.

Type of Gas

CO2 tanks and compressed air tanks are designed to hold two different types of gasses. A CO2 tank holds carbon dioxide while a compressed air tank holds normal air that has been compressed to a very high pressure. Compressed air is a preferable air source for a paintball marker because it is much more consistent than CO2. The pressure inside of a CO2 tank can change with the temperature.

Size and Units of Measurement

While the size of CO2 and compressed air tanks can differ, CO2 tanks are generally smaller than compressed air tanks. The 20-ounce CO2 tank is the largest CO2 tank but it is quite a bit smaller than the largest compressed air tank, which is 90 cubic inches. CO2 tanks are measured by weight while compressed air tanks are measured by cubic inches.

Parts

Both CO2 and compressed air tanks have a holding tank that can withstand a high pressure and a pin valve. The pin valve is the part that screws into the paintball marker. Compressed air tanks also contain a regulator with a pressure gauge. This is so that the user can determine how much air is left in the tank and so that a consistent amount of air is being let into the paintball marker with each shot.

Price

Compressed air tanks are much more expensive than CO2 tanks. Compressed air tanks require a regulator and pressure gauge while CO2 tanks do not. Also, compressed air tanks are designed to hold a much higher pressure than CO2 tanks. Compressed air tanks are available in either 3000 or 4500 pounds per square inch, while CO2 tanks usually range around 1000 pounds per square inch.

Make A Paintball Landmine

Make a Paintball Landmine

Paintball games that take place in the woods and fields, sometimes called "woodball," are military-style combat games that often use more equipment than just paintball guns. One fun way to get the edge on your the other team is to ambush them with paint mines. However, manufactured paint mines can be too expensive to use in quantity, so a good solution is to "go guerrilla" and make your own mines. This design isn't flashy, but it is an easy to make, cheap, command-detonated mine akin to a paintball claymore. That makes it perfect for ambushes.

Instructions

1. Take a portable bicycle pump and cut the one-way valve off the end with a knife. This pump will provide the power for the mine. Extending the hose can be done by mating it to a rubber hose of similar diameter with duct tape, but this is optional.

2. Take a big syringe, the bigger the better. Remove the press from the syringe and discard it, and drill a larger hole in the front. The size of the hole depends on your preferences for the mine. A small hole means a strong jet of paint that travels further, while a big hole means a short-ranged jet with wide spatter.

3. Prime and paint the syringe in a camouflage colors (black, green, gray, brown) with spray cans.

4. Insert the hose from the pump into the back of the tube, then fasten and seal it at the same time using caulk.

5. Use the command-detonated mine by placing it in a discrete location in the ambush zone. First draw the pump's plunger back, and then fill the syringe tube with washable paint. This avoids drawing paint back into the pump, where it may clog the pump. To detonate, push down on the plunger. Air pressure will blast the syringe's paint out the enlarged nozzle.

Games For Christian Boys

Raising Christian children in today's world is trying, difficult and ultimately rewarding. Kids face movies and games full of violence and foul language that seems to have become socially acceptable these days. Parents strive to find a way to teach children to interact socially while instilling good Christian values and morals. Ask Jesus to help guide you and your children down the right path, today and always. Surround your children with Christian friends, and include them in Christian social activities, especially church services.

Outdoor Games

Outdoor games can be competitive, fun and educational, and they can even have health benefits. If baseball isn't your preference, try an outdoor scavenger hunt, water balloon toss, ladder golf, bean bag toss or hula hoop contest for some good, wholesome entertainment.

Board Games

Try Bingo, board games or card games. Apples to Apples, Bible Blurt, TriBond, Guesstures, Inklings and Outburst are all great board and card games with Bible editions. You can purchase these games, and many more like them, at places like True Light Christian Store.

Online Games

There are many Christian websites offering interactive Christian games online. These sites categorize games by style, like action, strategy, puzzle and even those that test your Bible knowledge.

Other Activities

If you're looking for fun things for your boys to do, perhaps a camping, hiking or fishing trip is in order. Go-kart racing, laser tag or paintball are other great activities for older kids. When boys desire some male bonding, a Guys' Prayer Night is a nice way for teen boys to bond spiritually by expressing their prayer needs without adults or girls present to add unnecessary pressure.

Put A Paintball Gun Together

Put a Paintball Gun Together

One of the fastest growing recreational sports in the world today is paintball. Nothing beats the thrill of creeping through the woods plotting war strategies to blast your opponents with little balls of paint and declaring your world dominance by winning the paintball war. The most important tool of the trade is, of course, the paintball gun (also known as a paintball marker). Once you have purchased your gun you will need to put the gun together correctly in order to use on the battle field.

Instructions

1. Choose the appropriate size barrel for your paintball gun. The size of the barrel can be determined by sliding a paintball into the barrel at the end of the barrel that attaches to the gun itself. Now put your lips up to that end of the barrel and blow. If the paintball comes out the other end easily that is just the right size for your gun.

2. Connect the hopper to the paintball gun. This particular part of the paintball gun is where the paintballs are held until they drop into the barrel to be fired. This part usually attaches to the top of most paintball guns by sliding over the sleeve of your paintball gun over the hole in the barrel. Take a screwdriver and tighten the hopper in place.

3. Decide which of the two types of pressure tanks you would like to use on your gun. One type of tank holds CO2 and the other type of tank is a nitrogen tank.

4. Attach the tank to the "O" ring located on your paintball gun. Check the "O" ring visually for cuts, rips and tears before attaching the tank, as these can cause severe air leaks.

5. Load a few paintballs into the hopper.

What Do I Need To Get A Gun License

What you need to obtain a gun license varies with the gun laws in each state, with the kind of gun you want to purchase, and with the person from whom you wish to purchase the gun. Most states do not require a permit to purchase a handgun. Some states require a permit to carry a machine gun or "assault weapon."

Apply in Person

Most states require a permit for concealed weapons. The states that require permits in some situations for firearms purchases include Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, and North Carolina. Some of these permits come in the form of "transfer certificates." For a comprehensive listing of gun laws from state to state, visit http://www.statemaster.com/graph/gov_gun_law_per-government-gun-laws-permits. Most states that require gun permits require prospective gun owners to appear in person to the police department in the city where they live. If there is no local police department, they must apply to the sheriff's office, county magistrate, or local clerk of court.

Identification

All states requiring gun permits for purchase require a valid form of identification--either a driver's license or other form of current identification, which carries your current address, your picture, and your birthdate. In most states you must be at least 18 years of age to apply for a gun permit or purchase a gun. A federal law requires those who buy guns from registered dealers to be at least 21 years old.

Prior Records

You must prepare to file information on prior arrests or convictions. Rules vary by state, but most do not issue permits to convicted felons or to those convicted of violent crimes such as assault, aggravated robbery, rape, or murder. In some states a 5- or 10-year time limit is recognized for disqualifying prior arrests.

Other Restrictions

An array of other factors may lead to restrictions, including commitment to a treatment facility, a record of unlawful possession or sale of controlled substances, a record of domestic violence, being the subject of outstanding arrest warrants or a restraining order and dishonorable discharge from the armed forces. One or more of these conditions may bar you from obtaining a gun permit. Most states also require you to be a citizen or legal alien.

Background Check

You will have to submit to a background check, which usually takes several days. You may also have to take a firearms safety and training course, and present a certificate of completion of this course to the issuing authority.

War Shooting Games

War provides a plausible context and exciting setting for many video games, especially shooting games that can put you on either side of a major conflict. Modern crises that could arise through potential political shifts or extreme conditions give a lot of possible settings for fictional conflicts to take place anywhere in the world. There are several games that offer plausible scenarios of conflict in the present or the very near future.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

After a horrific incident at a Russian airport that claims the lives of hundreds of civilians, America is framed for the atrocity and finds itself under invasion. Viewing the action unfold from the perspectives of two characters, fight your way across several environments, from the icy mountains of Kazakhstan to the hauntingly familiar suburbs of Washington. Dramatic set-pieces are around every corner where you often defend yourself and others armed with the latest weapons and technology.

Homefront

War comes uncomfortably close to the front door in this fictional conflict penned by "Apocalypse Now" writer John Milius. Set in the year 2027, the United States has been invaded and occupied by the Greater Korean Republic. As a member of the resistance, the player fights for freedom against an overwhelming enemy that has turned his home into a violent police state. Witness the action on foot wielding an array of weapons or get behind the wheel to pilot vehicles in this explosive first-person shooter.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

Step over the border into Mexico as a member of the 5th Special Forces Group, also known as the Ghosts. A civil war is raging south of the border and the conflict could spill over into the United States with the threat of nuclear weapons being used. Cross vast cityscapes on foot or in vehicles such as Black Hawk helicopters. An integrated cover system allows you to hug parts of the environment to stay out of harm's way as you battle fierce Mexican Army rebels and mercenaries.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

A conflict over oil leads the United States to drive Chinese PLA forces from the fictional island of Skira. The player controls a soldier in a squad of four, with the rest of the team made up of other players over the Internet or operated by artificial intelligence. Tactical movements and planning ahead are rewarded over twitchy reactions and rushed attempts to gun down enemies, with a focus on realism being key to the game. One shot is enough to kill you, and even if you survive, the untreated wound may cause you to bleed to death.

Diy Molle Vest

MOLLE vests are used to distribute the weight of heavy machinery that military personnel wear while in the field.

Armed service men and women rely on the MOLLE vest to evenly distribute the weight of their weapons for faster movement and better access during intense situations. MOLLE stands for Modular Lightweight Load carrying Equipment; the equipment started being used by military personnel during the 1990's. The idea of the MOLLE vest is to offer more comfort for military personnel while standing and walking for long periods of time carrying equipment that may weigh as much if not more than they do. Professional grade MOLLE vests use a series of tightly woven nylon straps to offer a secure hold of the guns.

Instructions

1. Determine where you would like to attach the nylon webbing for strapping weapons in place. Generally weapons are attached across the back and upper chest of the vest. It will be necessary to determine what works best for your body frame, size and muscle build to ensure the weapons are comfortable when being carried. Authentic MOLLE vests have straps attached horizontally across the vest.

2. Measure the distance on the vest where the straps will be attached. Use dressmaker's chalk to mark the locations on the back and chest area where the ends of the straps will be sewed onto the vest.

3. Cut webbing into two 6" strands and three 10" strands for the back of the MOLLE vest.

4. Melt the ends of each strap using a lighter. Nylon will melt quickly, so only heat the ends for a few seconds at a time.

5. Sew the straps to the vest by sewing each end on the chalked lines that were marked in Step 2. Use a small stitch of at least eight stitches per inch. Small stitches will offer a more secure hold for the straps while they are holding heavy weapons.

6. Sew MOLLE pockets and attachment straps on the chest of the vest. Place two on each side of the chest area of the vest, one above the other. The attachment straps should be woven into the nylon straps for a secure hold. Use a small stitch to give the pockets a more secure hold.

Virtual Combat Training

Virtual combat training provides real life tactical training scenarios.

Virtual combat training is a simulated combat environment designed to train military and law enforcement officers. There are two forms of virtual combat training; one is real life physical training, the other is done via a computer or other technological device. Virtual combat training is often designed for specific scenarios or for teaching specific skills. For example, law enforcement officers may use a virtual combat training environment to teach a raid on a building or hand-to-hand combat.

Live Action Virtual Combat Training

Live-action training is the traditional form of virtual combat training. It involves re-creating a combat scenario for those participating in the program. For example, the Army may set up a small virtual battle between two groups of soldiers in a training circuit. Both sides are armed with paint ball guns or blanks. The two sides run combat scenarios against each other while being supervised by higher ranking commanding officers. This type of training provides a simulated combat environment.

Virtual Combat Training And Technology

As technology advanced, virtual combat training adopted new methods to train soldiers. The cost to train Air Force pilots with real flight time is very expensive, as fighter jets burn large quantities of expensive high octane fuel. The Air Force has developed flight simulators which create a virtual environment designed to look like a cockpit, with projection screens surrounding the pilot to simulate a virtual world. The experience is very much like flying in the jet without the added danger and cost. The pilot uses the simulator to engage in virtual combat training exercises.

Military

Virtual combat training is used by all branches of the military, as this form of training provides the most realistic, hands-on experience that closely mimics real combat situations. The military uses virtual combat training for both group and individual training. Those being trained may engage in simulated combat environments with their fellow soldiers or they may use manufactured courses and battlefields. Artillery training will often use fake targets for practice.

Police

Police also use virtual combat training to train their officers. Police must be skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and this essential skill is taught at police training centers. Officers first learn the theory from a senior instructor then put those skills into practice in a virtual combat training scenario against other students or the instructor. The police also use training facilities designed to simulate activities that officers will likely encounter during duty, such as a raid on a drug house or a hostage situation.

Private Facilities And At Home Technology

Private facilities are available that offer virtual combat training to the public. These facilities vary in the skills they teach and the equipment they carry, but private virtual combat training centers offer instruction on most of the skills that are taught by both military and law enforcement. Video games are on the market that provide simulated virtual combat scenarios similar to the same software that the military uses.

Block Thermal Imaging With Your Ghillie Suit

One of the most effective tools for getting past camouflage is thermal imaging (TI). A warm body can be detected by the heat it gives off with thermal imaging equipment and provides a formidable challenge to someone wishing to avoid detection. Visually, the ghillie suit is one of the finest concealment tools, but a warm body inside one stands out clearly in an infrared scope. There is no absolutely certain way to defeat infrared, but there are some techniques that make detection more difficult.

Instructions

Disguising Your Heat Signature

1. Conceal yourself behind shards of glass. Glass is opaque to thermal imaging, but carrying around a pane of glass in the jungle is not terribly practical. In junk yards or urban settings, a broken window or shards of glass can break up the shape of a human body and make a person in a ghillie suit harder to detect.

2. Throw a blanket over yourself. Afghan guerrillas carry thick woolen blankets to help defeat thermal imaging. A thermal blanket works the same way. By covering themselves with a layer of insulation, the heat is blocked so that it doesn't radiate. This only serves as a temporary concealment as the heat builds beneath the blanket, but may work long enough to conceal during a quick TI scan. Partially covering the ghillie suit may also obscure the outline of the body enough to deceive TI equipment.

3. Hide next to warm stones that still hold heat from the day. The extra warm spots will confuse the thermal imagers. Vent pipes near buildings, thick walls or any source of heat can help obscure your thermal outline. Hiding in hollows or caves or piling irregular mounds of earth over you may make you look like a brush pile that's warm inside. Most brush piles emit a little heat that confuses an infrared image to the observer. The trick with terrain blocking is to make yourself look less like a human.

4. Attach materials of varying reflectivity and ability to absorb heat to the ghillie suit to reduce the clarity of the body outline is to . Use odd shapes with varying thicknesses attached beneath the netting to vary the intensity of the heat given off by the body. This will not totally disguise your shape, but with other methods, can make concealment easier.

5. Wear double layers of material like insulated underwear with irregular venting between the net and clothing can help temporarily improve the breakup of the TI image. A wetsuit worn underneath the ghillie suit can help keep heat in. All of these last only until the ghillie suit wearer heat up inside the insulating layers and body heat begins ot leak out. The heat can also make it difficult for the wearer to operate effectively by overheating him and sapping strength.

6. Apply substances like wet mud to the face and exposed areas that might radiate heat. The cool mud streaked irregularly over hands and face can artificially cool the most open sources of thermal image. In a pinch, pour cold water over yourself. It can cool your skin and temporarily defeat a quick thermal scan. Rolling in the mud, suit and all can temporarily disguise your heat signature as well.

Create Your Own Paintball Gun

Paintball guns come in all types and sizes but each has the single purpose of shooting a paintball at an intended target. You can create your own paintball gun from a few supplies commonly found around the home, along with some items acquired from a hobby store. You do not need any special skills to create your own paintball gun; however, adult supervision is required if you are underage because a utility knife must be used.

Instructions

1. Stand an empty plastic water bottle on a table. Cut off the neck of the water bottle with a utility knife. Dispose of the bottom of the water bottle.

2. Stand the water bottle neck on a table with the pouring end facing up.

3. Use scissors to cut off the neck of a party balloon. Dispose of the cut-off neck in the trash.

4. Stretch the end of the party balloon over the pouring end of the water bottle neck. Push the balloon until all of the rings on the sides of the water bottle neck are covered.

5. Wrap a strip of duct tape around the end of the party balloon to secure it to the water bottle neck.

6. Go to a backyard, park or open field. Hold the paintball gun you have created in one hand. Tip the open end of the paintball gun up. Drop in a paintball so that it falls into the balloon at the other end.

7. Aim your paintball gun at a tree or rock. Grab hold of the paintball and the balloon with the fingers of your other hand. Pull back on both the balloon and paintball. Release your grip to fire the paintball at the tree or rock.

Fix A Lancer Paintball Gun

The Lancer paintball gun uses compressed air to force a paintball capsule from the magazine clip into the firing chamber. The vertical loading mechanism can cause the paintball capsule to get lodged into the front of the spring that propels it out of the barrel. This renders the Lancer unusable. Fixing the Lancer so that it can again be used requires a partial disassembly to remove the paintball capsule from inside of the gun. The procedure will not void any warranty, since the manufacturer expects the Lancer to be periodically disassembled for cleaning and maintenance.

Instructions

1. Place a soft cloth on a table. Remove the magazine clip from the bottom of the Lancer paintball gun's handle. Place the gun on the soft cloth with the barrel facing to the left.

2. Remove the locking pin out of the back side of the gun with your fingers--the pin is just below the hammer. Carefully pull the firing assembly tube out of the back of the gun. Place the firing assembly tube on the soft cloth.

3. Pull the firing pin that is sticking out of the back end of the gun slowly to the right. Stop pulling when the spring that is attached to the end of the firing pin can be seen.

4. Grab hold of the spring with your hand. Pull the spring slowly out of the back end of the gun. Remove the firing pin from the right end of the spring.

5. Place the spring on the soft cloth with the paintball capsule that is stuck to the spring facing to the left. Insert the blade of a flat-edged screwdriver into the spiral of the spring just behind the paintball capsule. Push the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver toward the left to push the paintball capsule out from the end of the spring. Dispose of the paintball capsule in the trash.

6. Stand the spring on the soft cloth with the end that had the paintball capsule attached to it facing up. Place your palm against the top of the spring. Press down on the spring to compress it. Hold the spring down for a minute.

7. Place the spring back into the back end of the gun. Place the firing pin back into the back end of the gun. Place the firing assembly tube back into the back end of the gun. Push the locking pin back through the hole. Pound on the locking pin twice with the handle of the flat-edged screwdriver to secure the pin to the gun's frame. Place the magazine clip back into the handle of the gun.

Instructions For Springloaded Semiautomatic Air Rifles

Spring-loaded air rifles are commonly used in sport shooting and target practice, as well as hunting small game.

Spring-loaded air rifles are light long-barrel guns used for sport shooting and target practice. Unlike guns that ignite gunpowder to fire bullets, air rifles use the force of compressed air. A piston is attached to a spring that sets back when the rifle is cocked. When the trigger is pulled, the piston springs forward, compressing the air between piston head and pellet; this pressure propels the pellet at high velocity. The semi-automatic function automatically reloads pellets and fires once each time the trigger is pulled, compared to fully automatic, which fires multiple rounds as long as trigger is depressed.

Instructions

Preparation

1. Ensure that the battery is fully charged and the safety is engaged.

2. Insert earplugs into your ears and put on safety glasses or goggles. Safety measures must not be overlooked when using air rifles.

3. Connect the charged battery and secure the battery door.

4. Disengage the magazine and fill it with pellets. Reconnect the magazine and ensure that it's locked in place.

5. Check the sight and adjust depending on size of the target and the distance to the target.

Firing

6. Select the firing mode. Many air rifles with semi-automatic features also have manual and/or fully automatic settings.

7. Disengage the safety lock.

8. Pull the cocking lever until it clicks.

9. Aim the barrel using the sight scope.

10. Pull the trigger to fire.

Outdoor Bachelor Party Ideas

If a groom only has eyes for his bride, forgo the typical bachelor party and celebrate outdoors.

Bachelor parties are usually a men-only affair for a groom and his friends to go out and celebrate his last days as a bachelor. Historically, the parties were known as "stag parties," and for decades the parties have typically been associated with strip clubs or other forms of adult entertainment. If a groom or his future bride are uncomfortable with such celebrations, it is not necessary to forgo the bachelor party all together. Alternative forms of celebrations include outdoor bachelor parties.

Skydiving

Taking a leap out of a plane with your closest friends is exhilarating.

The groom-to-be is about to take a leap of faith and wed his wife. Take the party up to the heavens, and make his party metaphorical. Call your local airport to inquire about companies that offer sky diving, as well as their rates. A skydiving outing for a bachelor party is ideal for thrill seekers and those who are short on time, because the experience is over relatively quickly. Skydiving isn't for those who are short on cash. A jump with a tandem partner (for those who have never sky dived before) costs upwards of $500 as of February 2011.

Ski Trip

A ski and snowboarding trip is fun for sports lovers.

Rent a ski lodge for a a weekend or longer, and enjoy snow sports. All men are boys at heart and a ski trip with friends gives them the opportunity to play all day long. If anyone in the group has never skied or snowboarded, call ahead of time to inquire about instructor's rates and schedules. Pack bourbon to warm up and relax after a day of freezing cold weather.

Camping

Escape the city and have a camping bachelor party.

A camping trip makes an ideal bachelor party for a groom who loves the great outdoors. Camping enables people to escape from the real world, and forces people to interact in ways that they can't do when they are surrounded by real-life distractions. Depending on where your bachelor camping trip takes place, you can spend the days fishing, hiking or swimming. In the evenings, enjoy sharing time and stories with your friends around the camp fire.

Paintball

Paintball games are affordable parties.

If the bachelor has a lot of friends and family, gather everyone for a paintball battle. Most paintball venues rent guns, gloves and masks to those who don't have their own equipment. Paintball games are relatively low cost --- as of 2011, a game is generally under $50 per person --- and lasts for at least two hours. This makes it especially fitting for a young groom who may not have the financial means of an older groom.

Beginner Handgun Training

Training can be fun and educational.

Some people who are untrained with handguns may be afraid to even touch one, as if it would fire upon contact. This is far from true. Training to use a handgun can be an exciting experience, and importantly it can be done safely. Something for the beginner to remember is no one starts out as an expert.

Safety First

Learn the rules of gun safety.

When it comes to any firearm training, safety is paramount and will begin whatever handgun training you receive. The National Rifle Association has three basic safety rules: always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction, always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot and always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to shoot. These rules are a good foundation for being a safe handgun user.

Revolvers

This is an example of a revolver.

You will want to learn the features of your handgun. There are two types of pistols, revolvers and semiautomatic. Revolvers are simple to learn. There is a cylinder that holds your bullets, and it turns counterclockwise when the trigger is pulled. Usually, a revolver holds five or six bullets. The lever to allow the cylinder to slide out to the left is located on the left side of the weapon. This allows you to load and unload the gun. Revolvers do not have safeties.

Semiautomatic Handguns

This is a semiautomatic pistol.

A semiautomatic pistol may have a safety. It has a "slide," which is on the top of the gun and moves forward and backward when the weapon is fired. This movement ejects the shell casing of the bullet just fired and places another bullet in the chamber. When the last bullet is fired, the slide locks back. Semiautomatics handguns are loaded using a magazine. To load the magazine, you push the bullets into it and press them down and back. When the slide is locked back, you will need to push the magazine release button, located on the left side of the weapon. The magazine will drop out of the bottom of the grip. Replace it with a loaded magazine and push down on the slide release button, also located on the left side of the pistol and about one inch above the trigger. The slide will move forward and chamber a new bullet from the magazine. Depending on the caliber and type of pistol, a semiautomatic may hold as few as six bullets or as many as 17.

Marksmanship

Proper aim is required to hit your target.

To fire accurately, you must place the sights of the gun on the target before pulling the trigger. The rear sight is on top of the gun and is shaped like a "U." The front sight is above the end of the barrel and is a single post. To correctly aim the pistol, the front and rear sights need to be leveled with the target, and you should see the same amount of space between the sides of the "U" and the front sight.

Getting a Concealed Handgun License

Getting a license for a concealed handgun could add to your safety.

If you are planning to get a concealed handgun license, expect to spend some time in a classroom, take a written test and also pass a range qualification, according to the Texas Concealed Handgun Association. The classroom portion will explain laws in your state regarding carrying a handgun, places where no handguns may be carried, situations where using a handgun is appropriate and other legal information.

Make A Rifle Stock

Collection of rifles

A rifle is a popular firearm used for hunting and designed to be fired from the shoulder. The part that comes in contact with the shoulder is called a stock, but is also sometimes referred to as buttstock or shoulder stock. Rifle is a specific type of a weapon precisely because of the stock. Basically, the rifle stock provides a firm support for the firearm and therefore enhances its aim and overall performance. If you are an owner or collector of rifles, you may want to learn make custom stocks.

Instructions

1. Identify your rifle and its specific style. If you are looking to replace an old and worn-out rifle stock, you may simply copy the design. But if you want to improve the look of your rifle, you need to look up various websites that deal with stock design so you can choose an appropriate shape and size.

2. Design and plan your rifle stock to the smallest detail. Draw the design to see how it will eventually look like when finished and choose the type of the wood as well. Note that the wood you choose for the stock needs to be of highest quality, aside from being hard, resilient and strong. One of the most common types of wood used for stocks is walnut. When you have the plan and the dimensions, purchase the needed materials and gather all the tools necessary. Remember that the most important dimensions are: length of pull, drop at comb and drop at heel, cast on and cast off and pitch.

3. Choose a particular wood board such as walnut or any other type you want for your rifle stock. Check the wood on all sides to see whether there is any discoloration, knots or other damage. Also check the pattern of the wood grain, since it needs to be healthy looking and, most importantly, spread in the direction of the longer dimension. If you can't see the wood grain clearly, pour some water on the board to see it. Then quickly wipe the excess liquid with a dry clean cloth, since the wood need to be absolutely dry.

4. Make a Plexiglas template of your design and cut it with a saw. Then hold the Plexiglas against the wood board and look through it to see how the grain is directed and positioned. Since the template is transparent, you will be able to see what the best position for the stock is. Use a marker to draw around the template and mark the place for cutting the stock.

5. Cut the wood to the required length, following the edges of the marked template. Make sure to add an extra inch or two for styling and shaping. Use a power saw for this task and make sure to protect yourself and others while using it.

6. Cut the exact shape of the template by using a bandsaw. A bandsaw is a power tool that can accomplish finer and more detailed cutting, ut make sure not to cut inside the lines: that kind of extra fine work is best left for hand-held carpentry tools.

7. Shape the stock into its final form by using a chisel and sandpaper. Treat the edges and the sides with sandpaper and use a chisel to add shadow lines or whatever other elements you wish. Make sure to achieve a comfortable and ergonomic shape of the stock, which provides a secure and firm fit and a stable grip as well. Check the shape from time to time during this part of the process so you can feel it in your hands and, more importantly, on your shoulder. Check the stock against the rifle as well. Now is the time to make the final adjustments if needed. Remember, the stock needs to be firmly and seamlessly attached to the rifle when it's finished.

8. Attach the metal part/hardware that will eventually be mounted to the rifle. Use a chisel to carve the place for the metal part and then attach it with strong wood glue and leave it in a vise for a few hours to dry and harden.

9. Apply a layer of wood primer and then let it dry completely. At this point, you will be able to see the beauty of the wood grain and pattern more clearly.

10. Finish your rifle stock by applying a coat of wood gloss or wood lacquer to its surface. Use a fine, soft brush with natural fibers to apply the gloss and make sure to allow one layer to dry and harden before adding another one.

Pigeon Racing Sprint Tips

Checking a pigeon's strength will help you find the right sprinters.

There's no official distance for a sprint in pigeon racing. A marathon is about 600 miles, although many long-distance races fall between 500 and that number. A sprint is only a fraction of that, and to improve your chances of winning you should put your pigeons on a sprinting diet, check your birds for strong muscles and feather health, and use only your strongest birds in the race.

Diet

A diet rich in proteins and grains, and slim on fat, is a good diet for short-distance pigeons. Feeding the birds a diet of barley, rice, wheat, and some seeds gives them mainly proteins, fibers, and sugars to power their body. The more you change out grains for seeds, the more fat and oil the birds will take. This may be good for long-distance flying, where the energy stores of fats really counts, but for racing sprints you'll want to stick to a lighter mix of grains.

Checking Your Birds

Dr. John Lamberton, a birding enthusiast and pigeon racer, says that evaluating a pigeon's health and vigor is one of the most important tasks in getting good results in a race. If you put unhealthy or comparatively weak birds in the air, you're not going to do well. Fortunately, evaluating the health, vigor, and strength of your birds isn't that difficult. When holding the pigeon, one hand pressing the legs to the body and the head facing your stomach, you can press your palm against the pigeon's feathers. There should be some resistance. If there's not, the pigeon is not that strong. You can also feel for the density of feathers by running your hand down the ventral side of the body. This area should be replete with many feathers.

Your Best Birds

You'll want to use your best birds in a sprint. Having many training sessions before the official race, as well as checking the evening before the race will help you find which birds are healthiest. The strongest birds have long, thin flight feathers, a flat breast, proportionately sized head and wings, feel buoyant in your hands, and have a keel bone about the length of one of your fingers. It'll take practice getting used to feeling for the differences among your birds using your hands, but as long as you have trial sprints you can see which of your birds did best, and get a feel for them in your hands so you know what to look for.

Build A Wooden Watchtower

Outdoor structures are often built using treated lumber.

Watch towers are raised platforms that are used for lookouts. Watch towers are used in a variety of settings. Beaches and forests use watch towers for safety reasons. Sports like paintball use watch towers to enhance the excitement of the game. Build a watch tower using treated lumber. Treated lumber will ensure a long life to your watch tower without the need of being stained. Secure the base of your tower in cement and the tower will be sturdy for many years. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Dig four 12-inch diameter holes that are 48-inches deep so their centers outline a square that is 66-by-66-inches. Position a timber in the center of each hole so the sides on each timber are aligned with the square that you outlined and so they are perpendicular to the ground. Pound two landscaping stakes around each timber so each pair of stakes create a right angle with each other. The stakes will hold the timbers in an upright position. Pour 2-cubic-feet of cement around each timber and let it cure according to the instructions on the package.

2. Screw a 72-inch board to a pair of timbers so it is at a right angle to the timbers and 48 inches away from the top ends of the timbers. Use six screws. The ends of the board should be flush with the sides of the timbers. Repeat this process on every side so you have a square frame around the timbers.

3. Screw four joist hangers to the inside of one 72-inch board. Space the hangers 8 3/4 inches apart and position them so their bottom lips that hold the joists are flush with the bottom edge of the board. Repeat this process on the board that is across from it so the joist hangers are facing each other and aligned.

4. Place a 72-inch board in each pair of facing hangers. Screw two screws through each hanger and into these boards. Angle the screws so they also screw into the 72-inch board that they are perpendicular to.

5. Lay ten 72-inch boards on top of the four boards you fastened on the last step at right angles. Position them so they're spaced 1/2 inch apart and so their ends are flush with the two outside 72-inch boards that are screwed to the timbers. Screw the boards in place using 12 screws for each board. Screw the two 61-inch boards on the outside of the 10 boards you just fastened so their ends are against the timbers and so they're 1/2 inch away from the ten 72-inch boards. Use eight screws for each board.

6. Screw a 72-inch board to each pair of timbers so their top edge is flush with the top ends of the timbers and so their ends are flush with the sides of the timbers. You will have a 72-inch board on each side of the watch tower. Screw another 72-inch board so it is 18 inches below the first. You will have one side of the watch tower that does not have a lower 72-inch board. Use your ladder to enter the watch tower from this side.
