Build A Paintball Cannon

Making a paintball cannon is an inexpensive and moderately simple project. Once completed, paintballs can be added for firing at targets, or during tournaments. The paintball cannon should not be fired within two feet of another person, windows or animals. Paintball tournaments may have specific rules governing the use of paintball cannons at tournaments.

Instructions

1. Apply PVC cement glue to a 3-inch PVC coupling. Use sponge to add PVC cement around the rim and inside the coupling.

2. Attach the 3-inch threaded PVC adapter cap to the coupling. Press firmly to secure.

3. Apply PVC cement adhesive to the three and 3 1/2-inch adapter. Screw the adapter to the remaining coupling.

4. Cut the 3-inch PVC pipe with the hacksaw. Cut PVC pipe to a size which will leave only 2 inches of pipe showing when attached between the assembled coupling pieces.

5. Attach the coupling assembly pieces to either side of the cut PVC pipe by screwing the adapter ends onto the pipe.

6. Drill a dime-sized holed into the center of the attached pipe.

7. Add PVC adhesive cement with the sponge to the inside of the 1 1/2 inch adapter. Insert the 1 1/2-inch pipe to the adapter. Press firmly to secure to PVC cement adhesive.

8. Tape together gas grill ignition switch wires. Use an ignition switch with wires at least ten inches long. Insert the grill switch wires through the PVC pipe hole. Make sure grill ignition switch button is visible, with switch pulled firmly toward the pipe.

Peel back the wire coating one-half of an inch from the end of each wire with pliers. Sparks from the ignition switch will bounce between wires when active.

Spray aerosol hairspray inside the cannon. Put cannon on a holder or the ground, and press grill ignition switch. Do not hold cannon in the hands, or fire within two feet of a human or pet.

9. Remove the PVC end cap, and fill paint ball cannon with newspaper. Place paintballs inside the cannon. Add more newspaper to secure paintballs.

Gunstock Carving Tools

Carve a gunstock from scratch, or carve patterns into an existing stock.

Carving a gunstock can be rewarding and fun. It only has to be as elaborate as you choose it to be, and sometimes just cutting into grain patterns can have a magical affect. It takes a few tools that are easy to come by, and with a little patience and persistence, you can create a work of art that is functional and beautiful.

Templates

There are thousands of gunstock styles with thousands of configurations. When attempting to carve a gunstock, it's absolutely essential that you start out with a plan. This plan should include a template. You can draw up your own template, but it's best to download one from the Internet, cut it out and trace it on your gunstock wood blank.

Power Tools

Power tools are essential to begin the carving out of a gunstock. A blank is too large to carve down by hand. After the template drawing is traced onto the blank, the band saw is used to cut along the template lines. The next power tool to use is a drill press with a 3/4-inch Forstner bit. This is used to bore clean holes through the wood blank. A handheld power drill with a sanding attachment is used to blend any rough edges.

Rasps and Files

Once the gunstock has been roughed out, a medium or large tooth wood rasp is used to blend and round corners. Rasps are also used to form profiles and sweeping curves in the wood. When the curves get small, round files are used to finish inside tight corners.

Scrapers

One overlooked tool in gunstock carving is the wood scraper. This is an extremely sharp steel-hardened blade set at 90 degrees to the handle. It's used to blend and remove wood in long strokes, leaving a smooth surface area.

Gouges, Chisels and Knives

Hand-carving tools are used to give gunstocks aesthetic appeal. Bench knives, or detail knives, are the beginning point for intricate carved patterns. These cut a pattern into the wood much like a pencil is used. From here, to get more refined results, gouges and chisels are used. Back-bent chisels are used to get into curves. Veining knives, dogleg chisels and V-groove chisels are applied to get sharp corners and crisp relief.

Checkering Files

A set of checkering files and knives are applied to give the gunstock the traditional meshlike checkered pattern. Checkering files are small and sharply pointed, and slightly bent on the end. These come with one to three heads fixed parallel to each other to provide perfectly balanced checkered lines.

Kill Diablos In Mhfu

"

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite" is part of a series of games on the PlayStation Portable system that allows you and your friend to team up and fight a myriad of different monsters in a fictional world. As you progress through the game, you will learn abilities and attacks that can help you take down some of the more difficult enemies. Eventually, you will run into the Diablos, a two-horned monster that you can defeat by following a basic strategy.

Instructions

1. Equip the Blango Fur Bow or a similar bow before you enter the area that Diablos is in. Equip the Hornet Armor along with the High Grade Earplugs to protect you from Diablos' high roar attack. Equip the Protection Jewel as well to protect against his Demonic Protection attack. Make sure you have the maximum amount of Potions, Steaks and Sonic Bombs in your inventory.

2. Eat Rations to increase your health and go to Area 7. Move to the giant rock in the middle of the area and you will encounter Diablos. Use a paintball as soon as you see him, then hide behind the rock. Draw your bow and shoot for the head. Use paintball again when he breaks from the trap and repeat this process until you break both of his horns.

3. Wait for Diablos to begin charging at you. When he does, move out of his direct path, then run at him at a 45-degree angle to get close enough for your attack. After the charge, he will attempt a horn thrust at you. When this happens, attack with the bow and aim at the left leg or tail.

4. Keep avoiding the charge attack and attacking with the bow when he attempts a thrust toward you. Ocassionally, Diablos will do a dig attack where he will burrow underground. Run in circular motions around the ground where he went in until he pops back up. When this happens, you have time to fire a shot or two from your bow.

5. Fire your bow when Diablos attempts his scream attack. It will not affect you if you have the proper armor and equipment listed in Step 1. Keep aiming for the left leg, tail and wings if they are open until you are victorious.

Do It Yourself Anodizing

Anodizing can create a colorful finish on aluminum objects.

Anodizing is a process commonly used to make aluminum harder and less likely to corrode. It involves using an electric current to create an oxide on the outside of an aluminum object. If you add a dye during the anodizing process, you can also make the oxide coating a decorative one. Home anodizing is used to add decorative and protective finishes to paintball components, car parts, computer parts and even telescopes.

Precautions

The home anodizing process requires a few dangerous chemicals, and the use of electricity. These can be dangerous if you don't observe the right procedures. Make sure to wear goggles or safety glasses when working with caustic substances or acids. Wear gloves when handling dangerous chemicals or hot water, and choose an apron or old clothes that won't be damaged by chemical spills. Work in a well-ventilated room, or wear a chemical respirator, to avoid inhaling dangerous gases.

Tools and Materials

To anodize aluminum, you'll need a nonreactive container, such as a plastic tub, large enough to hold the aluminum part and another piece of aluminum. Anodizing also requires an electrolyte, such as battery acid or 50 percent sulfuric acid, and a source of electricity, such as a vehicle battery charger. If you wish to add color to your anodized surface, you'll also need a dye, such as commercial fabric dye or food coloring.

Setup

Clean all aluminum parts thoroughly before anodizing. Create a bath of one to two ounces of nitric acid or three tablespoons of lye added to a gallon of water. Always add the lye or acid to the water to prevent a dangerous chemical reaction. Immerse the part in this solution to remove oil and other contaminants. Fill the main container with a mixture of one part battery acid and three parts water, adding acid to water, not water to acid. Suspend the part to be anodized and another piece of aluminum -- the cathode -- in the acid solution. Attach the battery charger's negative lead to the cathode, and the positive lead to the aluminum part, or anode.

Adding Power

Switch on the battery charger to begin anodizing. The greater the voltage, the stronger the anodizing effect, and the faster the process will go. If current is flowing correctly, the cathode will emit bubbles or a fog. Leave the setup with the power on for about two hours, or until the surface of the anode appears dull and slightly yellow. Remove the part from the acid bath and rinse it thoroughly in distilled water.

Water Bath

If you wish to color the part, mix water and dye in a nonreactive pot. The stronger the dye concentration, the darker the finished part will be. Place the aluminum part into the dye and heat it to 100 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes. While it's heating, bring distilled water to a boil in a separate pot. Remove the part, rinse it in clean water, and add it to the boiling water. Keep the water at a boil for half an hour to seal the surface of the part.

Troubleshoot My Halo Hopper

High-speed electronic paintball markers require an equally fast Halo electronic paintball hopper.

The Halo brand paintball loader is one of the most versatile electronic paintball hoppers. Capable of feeding up to 15 balls per second, the Halo loader was one of the first electronic hoppers to be able to keep up with the rate of fire of electronic paintball markers. However, because of the advanced electronics, the loader can be a bit temperamental. If the loader isn't operating properly during play, it can cause a paintball marker to misfire or not fire at all.

Instructions

Trouble During Game Play

1. Spin the rip-drive wheel under the drive motor if the loader locks up and fails to load paintballs into your marker. Spinning the rip-drive wheel will clear the jam.

2. Open the lid and reach down into the loader if your loader doesn't have a rip-drive wheel (the first versions of the loader did not). Move the paintballs around by hand to release any jammed paintballs.

3. Look at the back of the loader, just above the "On-Off" button. If the LED is blinking red, the loader's batteries are too weak to make the unit operate as designed. Turn off your loader, exit the field and replace the batteries.

4. Examine the feed neck of the Halo hopper where it's connected to your marker. If your marker chopped a paintball or two, the paint may have sprayed back up into the loader. In this case, the Halo's electronic eyes that "see" the paintballs in the feed neck may be covered with paint and require cleaning.

Trouble off the Field

5. Replace the batteries if you cannot turn on the loader, particularly if it has been sitting for awhile. Check the battery wires as sometimes the battery harness wiring becomes crimped and shorted.

6. If the loader doesn't turn on, Check the "On-Off" switch behind the melamine plate on the rear of the loader as these switches can break after heavy use. When the switch is depressed, you should hear a faint "click." No click means that the circuit board in the Halo needs to be replaced.

7. Take the paintballs out of the loader and move the drive cone back and forth with your fingers if the loader is not pushing balls into the marker consistently. The drive cone should be spring-loaded. If the drive cone spins freely, the spring has come loose or it may be broken. Remove the drive cone, reset the spring and re-install the drive cone.

8. Check the loader's instruction manual to enable you to slow down the loader's speed if the loader consistently pushes balls into the marker too far, resulting in chopped balls in the marker's breach. In some paintball markers, the Halo develops so much momentum it pushes paintballs past the marker's detents. In this case, a second ball drops partially into the firing chamber and is chopped in half when the marker fires. Check the marker detents. Replace them if they are worn or missing.

Choose A Sniper Rifle

Choosing a sniper rifle is the most important decision any sniper will have to make. There many different kinds of sniper rifles to choose from. You can choose anything from a 7.62mm Russian SVD to an American made Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifle, but it all depends on what kind of weapon you need to get the job done. These requirements will be different between the military and law enforcement communities.

Instructions

1. Know exactly what your assignment is. Whether it is long range, short range, or gathering intelligence, this will be very important information. Knowing this information will greatly help you when it comes time to choose an appropriate sniper rifle.

2. Be aware of the location you will be working in. It may be an urban or rural location. This fact will have a direct effect on the type of weapon you choose, as well as the weapon itself. In an urban environment, a smaller caliber rifle would be more desirable and easier to carry, because the rifle would be lighter and the rounds smaller. Shots in this type of area are usually a short distance. A rural location would tend to have larger open and wooded areas that would require a larger caliber rifle for longer distance shots.

3. Have an idea of the population density. This is going to be a factor in choosing your sniper rifle. In a densely populated area, which is where law enforcement usually operates, smaller caliber rounds are preferable, so something that fires a round like the 7.62mm or 308 calibers is a good choice. There is less likelihood of collateral damage due to passing completely through your target and hitting an innocent bystander with smaller caliber rifles. In a location with little or no population, .40 and .50 caliber heavy weapons are more desirable for their absolute stopping power and ability to penetrate defensive positions. This type of area is all most exclusively operated in by the military.

4. Consider weather conditions. When choosing the correct sniper rifle, this will be an important piece of information. Most sniper rifles have been weatherproofed against things like condensation, water, or even desert type conditions. The worse the conditions, the more rugged the weapon you will require. Weapons like the Russian SDV and Mosin Nagant are perfect examples of all weather, all conditions weapons. It's also important to remember that the higher the wind is the heavier the rounds you fire will have to be.

5. Pick your sniper rifle. Once you know exactly what your assignment, area of operation, weather, and terrain are going to be, then you can choose the sniper rifle that best fits your needs. Fortunately there are a wide variety of manufacturers and weapons systems to choose from. The popular nameplates in the business are companies like Barrett, Hawkins, Winchester, Mosin Nagant, Ruger, and Armalite. Make sure that the weapon you do pick is both easy to use and carry. Consider weight, length, and maintenance of the weapon, as you will have to carry and properly maintain your rifle.

Troubleshoot A Spyder Mr1

A functional paintball gun can help prevent untimely jamming.

The Spyder E-MR1 is a paintball gun, or marker, manufactured by Spyder Paintball. The company was founded in 1994 and continues to provide a variety of markers and paintball equipment. Markers, or paintball guns, use expanding gas, such as carbon dioxide or compressed air, to propel balls of paint through the barrel. The term "marker" was originally coined by foresters and ranchers who would use the technology to mark trees and wandering cattle. Regular care and inspection of the Spyder E-MR1 can help optimize its continued performance.

Instructions

1. Refill the gas or air tank if the paintball gun appears to be firing poorly. If the pressure in the tank is too low, the paintballs will discharge weakly. Unscrew the CO2 or compressed air tank by firmly rotating it counterclockwise until it detaches from the adapter. The paintball will release a small amount of gas or air when the tank is detached, which is normal.

2. Check for a jam if the paintball fails to fire when the gun is loaded, the CO2 or compressed air tank is full and the safety is off. Be sure to wear safety goggles or glasses when checking for a jam. Flip the safety switch into the "SAFE/OFF" position. Remove the CO2 or compressed air tank. Remove all paintballs and the loader from the feed neck. Unscrew the barrel from the receiver by rotating it counterclockwise until it detaches to allow paintballs to roll out of the unit. Pull back on the cocking knob to release the bolt from the jammed position. If a paintball broke while in the gun, clean the breach and barrel with a dowel rod and soft cloth.

3. Charge the battery if the gun fails to fire when the CO2 or compressed air tank is full, the gun is loaded and the safety is off. Make sure the battery harness is firmly connected to the gun adapter. A low battery or loose connection might impede or prevent the electronic grip from activating the firing mechanism.

Shoot A Screw Barrel Pistol

A screw barrel pistol was often used as a last defense resort.

A screw barrel pistol was designed several hundred years ago as a "hide out" gun, able to be slipped into a boot or other tight space and readily available. The one-shot small-barreled firearm uses a cap and ball system to fire and is quite deadly at short range. Modern replicas are available and, because they are based on antique designs, are not as regulated by the federal government as more up-to-date firearms.

Instructions

1. Fill the barrel with the correct amount of black powder according to the instructions for the screw barrel pistol. Each pistol caliber is going to use different amounts of powder. Do not overfill.

2. Lubricate a patch with grease and set over the top of the barrel. Seat the ball into the middle of the patch and push down with your reamer until the ball is seated against the powder.

3. Snap the percussion cap onto the nipple. Some shooters like to squeeze the cap before putting it on the nipple to ensure a better fit, but this is optional.

4. Pull the hammer back while the firearm is pointed in a safe position. When the gun is fully cocked, then carefully and gently pull the trigger while aiming at the target.

Troubleshoot A Paintball Co2 Tank

Does the CO2 supply for your paintball gun seem to vanish quickly? Can you hear gas escaping from your gun, but you're not even engaged in shooting competitions yet? Learn to troubleshoot the problems that occur with a paintball gun CO2 tank and you can save yourself time and money.

Instructions

1. Clean your gun. Make sure none of it is dirty or coated with paint, which could cause internal parts to stick open and produce a leak.

2. Find the leak. If the leak starts as soon as the tank is screwed on or the gun has no propellant pressure once the tank is in place, the problem is a burst disk. You need to replace it. Unscrew the burst disk cap on the side of the tank, pull the old burst disk out, slide a new one in place, and then screw the burst disk cap back on.

3. If the burst disk is not the problem and the propellant is making a hissing noise when the tank is in place, check the O-ring.

4. Remove the tank from the gun and remove the O-ring. Inspect the O-ring for cuts, cracks, wear, or distortion. If any are present, the O-ring needs to be replaced.

5. Inspect the CO2 tank valve and make sure you do not hear or feel any propellant escaping. If CO2 is leaking from the valve, proceed to next the troubleshooting step.

6. Once you determine that the valve is leaking, use a small screwdriver and slightly depress the valve to remove any dirt causing it to stick. If the problem persists, have a professional take a look.

Be Stealthy In Airsoft

Camouflage is very important for stealthy players.

Players engage in pitched simulated combat with imitation firearms that fire plastic pellets in the extreme team sport of airsoft. Airsoft teams work together to hone their tactics and gain the advantage over other players. One of the more important elements in an airsoft player's arsenal is stealth. Being stealthy gives a player the ability to fire upon and remove enemy combatants without giving away their position. Stealthy players get into excellent firing positions and then quickly move away before their target's teammates close in on them.

Instructions

1. Stay low as you move or hold position. Opponents can easily see someone who rises above barriers or other terrain obstacles. Keeping close to the ground reduces your profile and gives your enemy a far more difficult target.

2. Move slowly unless you are closing on an enemy. Slow movements are far less likely to draw the eyes of the opposing team toward your position. Advance rapidly only when you are closing on an opponent who has given away his position, and be mindful that this may be a trap.

3. Wear appropriately camouflaged gear. Wood camouflage won't be effective in an urban setting, nor will black help you in most wooded areas. Choose the correct coloration for your surroundings.

4. Use compact, quiet weapons. Airsoft sniper rifles and spring-firing pistols are ideal for stealth. Snipers may pick off opponents from afar without any fear of their weapon sounds giving them away. Spring-loaded weapons are far quieter than electronic or gas-powered guns.

5. Keep quiet and use hand signals or other non-verbal communication with your teammates. Many units will work out hand signals such as those used by modern military operations so that they can quickly share information and tactics wordlessly.

Treat A Paint Ball Stain On Fabrics

Paintballs do not generally stain clothes permanently, according to Xfirepaintball.com. Paintball is nothing more than a bath oil bead filled with food coloring, says Pointbreakpaintball.net. Despite these statements, common sense is required to prevent permanent paintball stains on fabrics. Treat paintball stains by washing clothes immediately after playing. Also avoid wearing delicate fabrics during the paintball games because these fabrics stain more easily. Red dye is the hardest to remove and might need extra soaking or stain-removing products. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Wear old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty when actively using paintballs. Stick to cotton options and steer away from delicate fabrics that need to be washed by hand or dry cleaned.

2. Wash the clothes as soon after the paintball game as possible. The sooner you wash off the paint, the less time it will have to soak into the fabrics and the more likely it will wash out easily.

3. Rinse the clothing off in a laundry tub before placing the clothes in the washing machine. This will reduce the amount of paint that your machine has to dispose of, and it will save other clothes from being unnecessarily soaked with paint.

4. Follow the general washing directions for the piece of clothing. Feel free to presoak the paint stains with laundry soap or any type of laundry product you usually use. Allow areas of red paint to soak first because these are the hardest to remove.

5. Check the fabric after the wash to see if the paint came off. If there are any areas that still show remnants of paint, spray that area with a stain remover, allow it to soak in for five to 10 minutes, then rewash the clothing.

Some of us get attached to things and don't want to let them go.

Our keepsakes become worn and need a little pick me up to make them desirable and pretty again.

If you keep your eyes and ears open you can find ways of doing a lot of things. I am one of those people.

I have this cell phone that I do not want to part with so I was at a gathering and heard two people talking about painting a

cell phone, I went and ask them if they mind if I listen to how they had done this. Then I went and did the same thing and I have a great cell phone and it is my own colorful creation.

Instructions

1. First you disassemble the phone. Paint and the fumes can damage

the sensitive electronics. Carefully tape or cover the areas you don't

want painted.

2. Use a paint that is made for plastics and will be easy to work with.

Use a paint that is design for models.

You can find these paints at most hobby stores.

3. Use plastic model-filler to fill in any nicks or areas

you want smoothed out. Sand with a 400 grit sandpaper and wash thoroughly. Make sure you sand it good so that you wont' have a problem

with the housing fitting back on.

Use dish washing soap or a plastic cleaner that leaves no residue.

4. When painting, put the paint in a bowel of warm water for a few minutes.

This will help the paint to atomize better.

5. Let the paint dry for 48 hours before using. The longer you can give it to dry, the better. Before the paint is fully cured, it's still soft and can be easily damaged

Paintball Gun Work

How Does a Paintball Gun Work?

Paintball Guns

A paintball gun, which is also referred to as a paintball marker, is a piece of equipment used to play in the sport referred to as paintball. Many in the paintball community use the term marker as opposed to gun with an intention to oppose the public's belief that paintball markers are weapons and that paintball is a dangerous sport to participate in.

Paintball Guns and How They Work

Paintball markers quickly thrust and propel paint balls out of the marker via a burst of compressed gas. They are pump-action guns. A long valve tube is in the center of the marker. The valve tube runs the length of the barrel, where paint balls are inserted, down to the chamber which is located at the rear end of the marker. This is also where the gas cartridge is attached. The valve tube passes through the bolt, the hammer and a spring along this path. It also passes along the valve seat which is located at the gas-intake end position of the marker (gun). The valve tube is at all times open at the barrel end of the marker. However, the other openings that are at the sides of the tube are obstructed by the bordering valve seat. The tube is kept in place by a device referred to as a cup seal. When the marker is not cocked, the bolt expands and blocks the paint balls from entering through the barrel. To shooter must cock the gun to release and shoot the paint balls. This is done by pulling the bolt backward on the marker and pressing the spring to get the bolt to hit against the hammer. As the bolt slides backward, the ammunition intake opens allowing a paintball to enter the barrel of the marker. A device referred to as the sear is located at the bottom of the hammer. The sear spins on a small pin and latches onto the bolt once the bolt is pressed against the hammer. The sear also causes the hammer and the bolt to connect resulting in their working together as one component. Once the shooter pulls back the bolt, the hammer is also pressed forward. The trigger is pulled to fire the marker (gun) causing the trigger to press against the rear portion of the sear. This motion causes the front end to move down freeing the hammer from the bolt causing the hammer to spring and propel swiftly backward. When the hammer springs backward, it presses against a raised device surrounding the tube. The valve tube is propelled backward with great force and is pressed back momentarily. The spring pushes the valve tube back into position causing the sides of the tube to be exposed. The pressurized gas is able to stream through the barrel at this time resulting in a paintball being propelled forward out of the paintball marker at a respectable velocity of speed.

Auto-Cocker Paintball Guns

With an auto-cocker paintball gun, a flexible valve automatically redirects condensed gas to the front of the gun once the gun is fired. The gas drives the bolt back into position allowing the gun to re cock automatically. The shooter does not need to re-cock the marker every time he wants to shoot. Automatic paintball markers are either comprised of compressed air or they have an electric motor that caused the marker to automatically re-cock itself. The marker can be fired continuously when the trigger is held downward.

Strap A Kayak Onto A Thule Jstyle Rack

Thule Hull-a-port J-style racks offer a secure way of transporting whitewater, recreational and touring kayaks. The J-style rack not only holds the kayak securely, but protects the hull from distortion, which can be a problem when strapping a kayak to the cross bars of a factory or aftermarket roof rack. By cradling the hull in place the J-style rack more evenly distributes the tension of the tie-down straps. Thule J-style racks also have cushions to protect the kayak from scratches.

Instructions

1. Position the top pad on the J-style rack so the centerline of the kayak will rest in the middle of the pad.

2. Feed the strap assembly through the top of the carrier above the top pad. Do this for both cradles.

3. Place the kayak on the rack with the cockpit facing out toward you and centered between the two rack cradles.

4. Bring the strap assemblies over the kayak and feed them through the bottom of the carrier or around the roof rack cross bar. This will depend on the model of J-style rack being used.

5. Push the buckle bumper out of the way and thread the end of the strap through the buckle, pulling tight. Pull the bumper back in place.

6. Tie one hook to the end of each length of rope.

7. Attach one hook to the bow and one to the stern. Use the attachment straps included with the rack if needed to prevent damaging your kayak.

8. Feed the free end of each rope up through the bottom of the rachets while rotating the spool in a clockwise direction until the rope comes out the top.

9. Attach the ratchet hooks to the bottom of the bumpers or to tow hooks and draw the ropes tight.

Fade An Auto Paint Job

Faded auto paint jobs have been around for several decades. This type of paint job was very popular in the early 1990's, even showing up from the factory on some trucks. A faded paint job consists of two different colors, one one top of the vehicle and the other on the bottom, fading into one another instead of having a solid line divide them. The area where the two colors meet is blended and faded to create a softer look.

Instructions

1. Find the location on the vehicle where the two different color paints will meet. Place a strip of masking tape along this line so you have a visible reference point. Use masking paper to cover the top half of the vehicle so that only the lower portion is visible.

2. Pour the paint for the bottom color into the spray paint gun. Begin at the front of the vehicle and work towards the rear. Hold the spray gun 6 to 8 inches from the surface and move it left and right, not up and down. Spray a total of three to four thin coats of paint on the prepared surface. Wait 5 minutes between each coat. Let the paint dry for 6 to 7 hours, or place automotive paint heating lamps around the vehicle to let it dry faster. Rinse the paint gun with reducer or paint thinner to clean it completely.

3. Remove the masking paper and tape from the top of the vehicle. Once you know the new paint that is on the bottom of the vehicle is completely dry, place masking tape and paper over it so only the top half of the vehicle is visible. Move the first strip of masking tape down so that the bare area under it can be painted.

4. Pour the second color of paint into the spray paint gun. Using the same spraying techniques, paint the top half of the vehicle. Allow it to dry completely. Remove all masking paper and tape from the vehicle.

5. Put more paint into the spray gun, choosing either the top or bottom color, whichever you prefer. Add some reducer to the paint, at a ratio of two parts paint to one part reducer. The reducer will cause the paint to become very thin and once sprayed, will 'burn' the surface and existing paint on the vehicle, causing it to fade slightly.

6. Spray this mixture along the line where the two colors meet. Concentrate on spraying the line first so that it is no longer visible and then move slightly higher than the line and then slightly lower. This makes the faded area look more even. For a larger fade, move even further above and below the original lines. Let the paint dry completely and then spray three to four coats of clear coat paint over the entire vehicle.

Tint Eyeglasses Using Rit

Tint your plastic lenses with RIT dye.

If you have an old pair of prescription glasses you would like to tint but you do not want to spend a lot of money having them professionally colored, you can try RIT dye at home. RIT dye is designed as a fabric dye that you can use at home, but it is also effective on plastic. Therefore, you can use it to tint your eyeglasses as well. The tinting process will only work on plastic eyeglasses. The results depend on the type of plastic, how long you leave the eyeglasses in the RIT dye and what type of coating is on the lenses.

Instructions

1. Remove the lenses from your glasses if desired and if possible. You can also tint the entire pair of eyeglasses, including the frames. Some eyeglasses do not allow easy lens removal.

2. Bring 2 quarts of water to a low simmer on the stove in an old saucepan that is large enough for your eyeglasses to fit inside. Stabilize the temperature at a very low setting. If the temperature is too high, the plastic may melt or warp.

3. Add 1 ounce of RIT dye and 5 drops of distilled white vinegar. Stir well.

4. Submerge the lenses or eyeglasses in the dye solution. Make sure they are completely covered by the dye.

5. Check the glasses every few minutes to make sure the eyeglasses are not being warped or melted. Do not go longer than 10 minutes between checks.

6. Leave the lenses or glasses in the dye on the stove until the tint is as dark as you want. You can leave them for as little as 10 or 15 minutes for a light tint and as long as an hour or more for dark tint.

7. Remove the glasses when the tint is as dark as you desire. Rinse the lenses or glasses in warm tap water then in gradually cooler water until they are completely cool. Dry them with a soft cotton cloth. Reinstall the lenses if necessary and your tinted glasses are ready to wear.

Airsoft Field Ideas

Airsoft is a hobby involving air-powered guns that fire non-lethal pellets rather than actual bullets. It is becoming a popular pastime among young adults. If you run an airsoft field, you might face competition from other local airsoft and paintball facilities. In airsoft, one of the ways in which you can set your field apart is with clever design. Most airsoft fields are built in the woods. While the woods can make for entertaining combat scenarios, an airsoft field can be much more than a small section of forest.

Video Game Level

Build a replica of a famous video game level. For example, millions of people have played the computer game Counter-Strike, and a map called Dust provides the setting for many Counter-Strike tournaments. A replica of a famous game level such as Dust would be immediately recognizable to many airsoft players, who wiould delight in the opportunity to live out their video game fantasies in real life. A replica of the map 2Fort from Team Fortress would also be certain to attract airsoft players from miles around.

Hedge Maze

If your airsoft field is based in a forest, add variety by turning a section into a massive hedge maze. Alternatively, construct a maze from wood to prevent players from seeing and shooting through the walls. A maze can provide opportunities for players to hide, and not knowing the way out lends an extra level of challenge to the experience. Create an ideal environment for Capture the Flag-type gameplay by building small wooden forts at opposite corners of the maze.

Urban Combat

Construct a simulated urban environment by placing walls inside a pre-fabricated steel building and painting them to look like brick or stone. If you hire professional contractors, you may even be able to add areas with stairs and ledges to your building, giving snipers places to perch. Not only would a simulated urban environment be a hit with airsoft players craving variety, but it would also provide a place to play during poor weather.

War Scenario

Airsoft is essentially a war game, but few airsoft fields make an effort to create a historically accurate environment. Pick a war--the Vietnam War, for example--and design your field so that it truly reflects the feel of that environment. Use plants native to that area of the world, and put up a few inexpensive wood structures that look as though they could have existed in that location and era. If it is appropriate for the war you have selected, dig a trench in the middle for combatants to fight over.

Movie Set

Recreate a set from a famous film, or simply use a film as inspiration to draw upon. For example, the Nakatomi office from the film Die Hard might provide fertile ground for ideas. You can use items such as cubicles, desks and old computers to construct a simulated office environment where players can act out terrorist and hostage scenarios.

Gun Rack Laws

Transporting firearms varies state to state.

Gun rack laws vary from state to state. It is important to check with state's firearms possession laws prior to transporting your firearm. Most states require that you cannot transport a firearm loaded or uncased. Other states ask only that the firearm be contained and unloaded. In North Dakota, South Carolina, Tennessee, South Dakota and Texas, there is no requirement to have guns stored in cases, allowing them to be transported in either a gun rack, trunk or on the front seat in most areas.

Concealment

Gun cases come in a variety of styles.

Many states require that your transport your firearm in an enclosed case designed to carry a firearm instead of using a gun rack. This means that the case must fully enclose the firearm by either being zipped up, snapped closed, buckled closed, or tied closed so that no part of the firearm is visible. All states require that the firearm be completely unloaded of any ammunition prior to transporting.

Restrictions

Wildlife management lands protect nature and wildlife.

States that allow transportation of guns in a gun rack, such as South Carolina, do prohibit the act on state lands and wildlife management area lands. You are not permitted to carry any type of firearm unless it is enclosed in a case on protected lands. Target practice is especially prohibited on wildlife management lands.

Transportation

Guns must be concealed in most states.

Many states allow firearms to be transported in a vehicle that has a trunk. Many of these states do not allow for the firearm to be visible while being transported. This includes moving the firearm to and from the vehicle. In some states it is required that the firearm be transported to and from the vehicle in an enclosed case and no part of the gun is visible at any time. All states require that anyone transporting a firearm have a license to carry that firearm.

Install An Invert Mini With Oled Board Shooting

Add an LED display to your Invert Mini paintball marker.

The Invert Mini is a popular 2-pound paintball marker, or gun. Due to its popularity, manufacturers design logic boards that improve the stock marker with enhanced features. This includes the Virtue OLED Board, which sports a display that provides the user constant updates about the state of the marker, including a shot counter and error codes. Installing the OLED Board is a two-step process: removing the stock logic board and then fitting the new board, LED screen and battery compartment door.

Instructions

1. Determine the hex wrench in your set that fits the screws on the body of the paintball marker.

2. Locate the screws on the rear of the marker handle, just in front of the trigger. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws and detach the handle from the marker body.

3. Use the hex wrench to remove the screws on the back and underside of the handle. Lift the lid of the battery compartment and remove the battery. Next, carefully push the circuit board flat in the casing and slide it out of the compartment.

4. Slide the OLED board into the compartment, battery attachment end first. Secure the board in the compartment with the original screw. Next, attach the white pin harness to the LED screen.

5. Insert a 9-volt battery to the terminal and wrap the excess wire around the terminal cap. Place the battery into the compartment, then put the LED flat against the side of the battery.

6. Place the battery compartment door on. Arrange the clear panel and LED so the readout is visible through the window. Secure the battery compartment door by replacing the bottom screw. Reattach the handle to the marker body.

Wear A Bandana Under A Paintball Mask

Bandanas help keep sweat out of your eyes while playing paintball.

Paintball masks are necessary to protect the face from damage and paint while playing the sport paintball, though with some helmet makes, the top of the head and neck are uncovered. Bandanas are used under the mask to catch sweat and protect the uncovered areas from feeling the full power of a paintball, or at least protecting your skin from paint stains. It is important to position the bandana under the mask properly as to not interfere with game play. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Over the Head

1. Open the bandana completely -- it will be in the shape of a square. Most standard bandanas measure 22-by-22 inches.

2. Fold up one corner to the center of the bandana. Pull the bandana over your head, with the fold at your forehead and the remained over your scalp and back of your head.

3. Take hold of the two side corners -- on either side of your head -- and tie them in a half knot at the back of your head. Grab the middle and remaining corner and pull it back over the half knot.

4. Take the ends of the half knot and make a single knot to secure the bandana at the lower back of your head.

5. Place the helmet on, adjusting it so that it fits over part of the bandana resting over the forehead and the very top of the head.

Over the Mouth and Chin or Neck

6. Open the bandana completely.

7. Pull one corner across to the opposite corner and make a crease at the fold. The bandana is now in the shape of a triangle.

8. Arrange the bandana under the nose, but above the mouth, with the point facing down. Take hold of the two side ends and pull them to the back of the head. Tie a knot so that the bandana is snug.

9. Place the bandana around the neck, instead of over the mouth. Take hold of the two side ends and pull them to the back of the neck. Tie a knot so that the bandana is snug.

10. Place the helmet on, keeping the bandana in place.

Calculate Velocity At An Angle

Calculating velocity at an angle is a trigonometry problem.

Velocity is a vector, which means it has both magnitude or length and direction. In math and physics, however, we often need to break the velocity vector down into its components -- how fast an object is traveling with respect to the x-axis and how fast with respect to the y. Thanks to trigonometry, this kind of problem is not as difficult as you might think. If you have the angle between the velocity and another vector, you can use this in your calculations.

Instructions

1. Measure the magnitude of the velocity vector and the angle between the velocity vector and the vector or axis of interest. Alternatively, if you're working a math quiz question, you'll probably be given this information.

2. Take the cosine of the angle between the velocity vector and the vector or axis of interest using the "cos" button on your calculator.

3. Multiply the value from the last step by the magnitude of the velocity vector. This operation gives the magnitude of the velocity in the direction of the vector of interest.

Example: Imagine a rocket traveling at 200 mph at an angle of 70 degrees above the horizontal. The rocket is cruising towards the summit of a hill whose surface is inclined at 45 degrees above the horizontal. How fast is the rocket traveling with respect to the hill's surface (i.e. in the direction of the hill's summit)?

Answer: The angle between the rocket's velocity vector and the slope of the hill is 70 degrees - 45 degrees = 25 degrees. The cosine of 25 degrees is 0.906, therefore 0.906 x 200 mph = 181.26 mph.

Co2 Theory Science Projects

Carbon dioxide theory science projects introduce students to the greenhouse effect, the carbon cycle and the effects of CO2-induced climate change. Students can investigate and compare man-made sources for dangerous levels of CO2 in the atmosphere as well as how excess CO2 in seawater may affect life in the oceans. These projects increase a student's awareness of global warming and the need to reduce humanity's dependence on fossil fuels.

Easy: Compare CO2 Emissions of Cars

Write down the mileage from your family car's odometer after the tank has been filled with gas. Repeat this procedure the next time your family car's gas tank needs filling. Subtract the first mileage reading from the second one. Divide the number of gallons of fuel required to fill the car's tank to obtain number of miles per gallon of gas. Record your data in a table. Continue to record your family car's gas intake and mileage for at least three more fill-ups. Divide 23.6 lb. CO2 per gallon by your car's average mpg to calculate the CO2e, or the greenhouse gas emissions of your family car. Research the average fuel efficiency of a plug-in hybrid car. Calculate the CO2e for the hybrid and compare it to your car.

Easy: Probe the Greenhouse Effect

Gather four 1-inch by 6-inch by 20-inch wood boards, eight 2-inch-long nails, a sheet of 24-inch by 24-inch by 1/4-inch clear plastic and a thermometer. Have an adult hammer the boards together to construct a frame. Place the frame on soil where it can remain exposed to sun. Put a thermometer inside the frame. Cover it with the plastic sheet so that no air can pass through gaps. Put the second thermometer outside of the plastic. Record the temperatures inside and outside of the frame in three identical intervals over a 24-hour period for seven days. Create a graph with time of day on the x-axis and temperature on the y-axis, noting the heat differential between an environment with and without an atmosphere.

Moderate: Investigate the Acidification of the Sea

Consider what happens if the sea absorbs excess CO2. Gather a pH meter, 6 oz. of mussel shells, plastic baggies, a scale, a camera, a paper towel roll, six pint-size jars, a marker, labels, white vinegar, an eye dropper and a sieve. Purchase some Instant Ocean salt. Stir the salt and water to make seawater according to the manufacturer's instructions. Mix enough solution to fill six jars. Use the pH meter to record the seawater's pH, which should be about 8.1. Weigh an ounce of shells. Place them in a baggie, crush them and weigh them again. Photograph the fragments. Put the shell bits into a jar. Pour seawater up to the jar's rim and seal. Label the jar with the pH, date and the shells' weight. Repeat the procedure to fill two more jars. Repeat the procedure for the remaining three jars; however, use the eyedropper to squeeze three drops of vinegar into the solution, stir and measure the pH. Check to see if the pH is 7.5, or the expected pH of ocean water by 2100. Seal the jars and label. Open the jars after a month and pour their contents through a sieve. Rinse the shells with filtered water. Dry with towels and then weigh. Record the appearance of the shells in normal water versus acidified seawater. Calculate the percentage change in the shells' weight.

Challenging: Compare CO2 Levels in Different Gases

Gather five test tubes, four different-colored balloons, four twist ties, household ammonia, bromothymol blue indicator solution, vinegar, baking soda, a funnel straw, a bottle, a graduated cylinder and modeling clay. Have an adult, who should wear thick gloves and goggles, slip a balloon over the nose of the funnel, and then place the funnel over the tailpipe of a running vehicle. Overinflate the balloon. Release gas until the the balloon's diameter is about 7.5 cm. Use a twist tie to seal the balloon. Pour 15 ml of water and 10 drops of indicator solution into each test tube. Label the test tubes A, B, C, D and Control. Use a tire pump to inflate balloon A, which will fill with ambient air. Blow up balloon B with your breath. Use the exhaust-filled balloon for sample C. Pour 100 ml of vinegar into the bottle. Funnel in 5 ml of baking soda, and allow the mixture to roil for three seconds. Slip balloon D over the bottle's mouth, inflate to 7.5 cm in diameter and seal. Mold clay around a straw tip to form an airtight collar. Plug balloon A's neck into the collar. Put the straw's other end into test tube A's indicator solution. Allow the gas from the balloon to bubble through the solution. Repeat the last three steps for the rest of the balloons. Record which bromothymol blue solutions turned yellow, signaling the presence of carbonic acid, a CO2 byproduct. Observe how the solution did not react when mixed with your breath but reacted strongly with vehicle exhaust. Consider the impact of CO2-rich exhaust on the Earth's atmosphere.

States Where Owning A Silencer Is Legal

State laws govern the legality of gun silencers.

United States gun laws vary from state to state, and federal firearms laws are supplemented, broadened or limited by state laws. Ownership of gun silencers is permitted by state law in a majority states, although some states' laws place restrictions on silencer ownership. A silencer, which is also commonly known as a suppressor, sound suppressor or sound moderator, is a device which reduces the amount of noise and flash occurring when a gun is fired.

States Where Silencers Are Legal

It is legal for private individuals to own silencers in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Missouri

Owning a silencer is legal in Missouri, with the condition that the owner must hold a C&R (curio and relic) license. This is a federal license which allows people to collect antique firearms. The C&R licensing process takes several months to complete.

Dealers and Manufacturers

Class 3 dealers and Class 2 manufacturers may legally own a silencer in the following states: California, Iowa, Massachusetts and Michigan. Private individuals, however, are not allowed to own a silencer in these four states.

More Information

For further information regarding the legality of silencer ownership in a specific state, check with either your state's attorney general, or the local office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The law is changeable and it is best to fully check into silencer laws several months before considering purchasing one.

Make A Camo Ghillie Suit

Make a Camo Ghillie Suit

Ghillie suits are used to conceal one's position of attack. Nowadays they are popular with the recreational sport of paintball. A ghillie suit can be constructed many different ways. Some people choose to use BDU's (battle dress uniforms), which are the standard military dress of soldiers, as the base of their ghillie suit. As long as you choose a discrete set of clothes as your base (no bright colors) you'll be fine.

Instructions

1. Sewing on the net

Sew sections of netting onto the outside of a jacket, poncho, or similar apparel. Be sure to cover all areas of your jacket with sections of netting.

2. Adding the jute

Take individual strands of jute or burlap (5 to 15 inches in length) and weave them into your netting securing them with a knot at the end.

3. Repeat step 2 until you have covered the entire jacket with jute/burlap

4. Surrounding natural vegetation

Weave natural vegetation, such as branches from a nearby bush, fern, or plant, strategically into your netting.

Airsoft Tournament Rules

Just like paintball, the hobby of Airsoft is a wildly popular activity that has spawned hundreds of groups dedicated to gathering together and having shootouts with their mock weapons. Just like any projectile weapon, there are safety concerns involved, and before any tournament can begin it's important to set up some ground rules.

Follow the Basics

There is no single official set of Airsoft rules. Each group varies, so finding a single set of concrete rules will be difficult. But there are some basic rules that every group should follow regardless. 1. Wear protective gear. Full-length clothing and eye wear is a must at all times. 2. In the U.S., all Airsoft weapons must be orange tipped according to Federal Law, to delineate from real weaponry. 3. Check all players' ammo and muzzle velocity. No metal BBs allowed (as they pierce skin) and velocity must be under 400 fps.

Tournament Play Basics

First, make sure the teams are balanced and easy to pick out, meaning some type of colored jersey is helpful. One-hit kills are best; meaning any contact on the body is considered a kill. Honesty is key with players, as only they truly know if they've been hit. If they have, they must shout "OUT!" and clear the field. This ensures other players won't hit them when they are already "dead." Dead players must remain silent and offer no hints to their teammates as to enemy placements or strategy. Hostages must not be taken, as this can be misleading and dangerous. Timeouts are prohibited, due to player confusion on large playgrounds. It's important to lay out play boundaries, and set up "no fire" zones. If each player respects these rules and respects his/her fellow players, no issues should arise.

Special Rules

In order to add interest and keep the game fresh, it's a good idea to add some more complex game play into the mix. For example, to reward stealth instigate the knife kill rule. This allows players to sneak up behind other players and tap them on the shoulder. If they do this unnoticed, it's considered a kill. Moreover, integrate the classic game of Capture the Flag into the mix. Keep the one-hit-one-kill game going, but make allow "killed" players to come back every five minutes. This way, in order to win, one team must capture the flag. This game type usually needs a referee, but the extra effort pays off. Be creative and have fun!

Make A Stock For A Paintball Gun

A gun stock makes for more accurate shooting.

As with any weapon, paintball gun accuracy is improved by the ability to hold the weapon securely while shooting. You can make a stock for your paintball gun that will enhance your firing and lead to more success when shooting at a target. To do this, you will need a few hardware supplies and tools from a hardware store. You will also be cutting wood, so you will need adult supervision if you are a minor. Your wooden gun stock might not be as polished as one made professionally, but it will help you shoot more accurately.

Instructions

1. Spread newspaper over your work surface. Using the ruler and black permanent marker, draw a gun stock on the acetate sheet. Make the width of your drawing the same width as the handle of your paintball gun, and its length twice the length of your paintball gun (from the tip of the barrel to the hammer at the back).

2. Cut your drawing out with a utility knife to make a template.

3. Place the wood block on the newspaper. Pour some water onto the wood so that the grain can be seen.

4. Place the template on top of the wood block with the wood grain running straight through the length of the template (not from side to side).

5. Using a black permanent marker, draw around the template on the wood.

6. Using a circular saw, cut out the piece of wood that the template is drawn on, leaving six inches on each side of the cut-out block of wood.

7. Cut through the length of the block of wood with the band saw, making the block of wood half as thick as it was before.

8. Use a table saw to cut around the template on the wood block.

9. Use the circular saw to cut around the template on the wood block. Sand the edges of the wood block with sandpaper.

10. Apply a coat of varnish to all sides of the wood block and let dry. Apply a coat of black paint to the wood block. Let dry.

11. Attach your new stock to the back of your paintball gun, even with the back edge of the handle.

12. Wrap duct tape around the stock and the handle. Lift the paintball gun up and rest the stock against your shoulder before aiming and firing.

Chicago, known for being one of the most passionate sports towns in the United States, just might be a single woman's metropolis for meeting men. When you consider that Chicago is home to the Bulls, the Bears and the Cubs, the odds of finding at least one good guy somewhere in the mix of all those professional sports increase dramatically. The truth is that if you are a single woman hoping to meet new men, you have got to think like one, and put yourself in their shoes long enough to find out where they gather.

Wrigley Field

Put on your baseball cap and head out to Wrigley Field for a relaxing day of baseball. Baseball is to men what shoes are to women, a necessary part of life. The best thing about attending a baseball game, opposed to basketball or football, is that the season takes place during the warmer months and there is room for some distraction. Baseball, though exciting, isn't as intense as the other sports, allowing for some shameless flirting in between batters and innings. Wrigley Field, the second-oldest ballpark in the majors behind Boston's Fenway Park, is Chicago's classic male hangout. And so what if you're not particularly well-versed in the sport of baseball. If you don't mind hot dogs and beer and are able to explain the infield fly rule, you are ahead of the game. After the game amble over to Wrigleyville just outside of the ballpark, offering a variety of options, such as sports-themed bars, dining, drinking and entertainment.

BeerAdvocate Monthly Gathering

Raise your glass and toast to the perfect place to meet men. If there's one thing that men enjoy as much as (if not more than) baseball, it's beer. At Goose Island's Clybourn Brewpub, Chicago's Craft Beer, you can relax and enjoy a wide variety of distinctive, crafted beers at the same time as you watch those unique beers being brewed, in-house. And if you're a beer lover, take part in Goose Island's monthly gathering, a literal beer-swap of Chicago area BeerAdvocate members. The cost of admission is free, and it takes place from 6 p.m. till 10 p.m. "Here's mud in your eye!"'

Highlife Adventures

Get out of the chat room and connect with men who have similar interests while partaking in extreme adventures such as white-water rafting, sky-diving, Martini tasting, pub-crawling, playing paintball, water-skiing, cycling, snowboarding or horseback riding. Highlife Adventures provides thrilling opportunities for singles to meet in the Chicago area, offering 60 different events every month.

New Jersey Law And Airsoft

Airsoft gun modeled after the Beretta M9A1

If you're planning to play or purchase an Airsoft gun in the state of New Jersey, it is important that you educate yourself on the state's gun laws, which were amended in 2008 to include Airsoft guns.

Revised Airsoft Laws

On Nov. 8, 2007 senator Bob Smith submitted amendments to the state legislature that were designed to restrict the sale and use of Airsoft guns. All Airsoft guns are now considered firearms and are subject to the same rules and regulations as conventional handguns and rifles.

Sale and Licensing Requirements

Potential owners of Airsoft rifles or pistols must "obtain a permit to purchase the gun, pass a criminal background check, and not be subject to any disqualifications for firearms ownership." Buyers must also be at least 21 years old to purchase Airsoft handguns and 18 years old to purchase Airsoft rifles.

Penalties for Unlicensed Use

Owning or using an unlicensed Airsoft pistol or rifle could lead to stiff criminal charges including "unlawful possession of a weapon or possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose." Ryan Narcisco was pulled over for speeding in central New Jersey and arrested when the officer noticed a Gamo P-23 Airsoft gun sitting in the passenger seat. Under New Jersey's Airsoft laws, Narcisco could face three years in prison.

Test A Compressed Air Tank

Compressed air cylinders should be checked before every use.

Compressed air tanks are built to carry high-pressure air. Therefore, to avoid accidents, they must be inspected for safety every time they are used. Common uses for compressed air cylinders include scuba tanks and auto shop tire inflators. Accidents that could happen with compressed air range from blown discs to explosion, meaning the safety inspection is critical.

Instructions

Instructions

1. Locate the o-ring on the valve of the tank. Check that it is intact without cracks and seated correctly in the valve.

2. Examine the exterior of the tank for any visual problems such as dents or cracks in the structure.

3. Check the hydrostatic test date. On most cylinders, this is stamped on the neck of the tank. Make sure that it is within local regulations. This is within five years in the United States as of 2010.

4. Check the external visual inspection sticker for a date. Visual inspection is necessary every one to two years, depending on local law. Outdated visual inspection tickets make it difficult to obtain refills without being re-inspected.

5. If the tank contains oxygen or enriched air, then attach an oxygen analyzer and slowly turn on the valve, to obtain an oxygen percentage reading. It should contain a reading to within 1 percentage point of the desired mix. Once you have this, slowly turn off the valve.

6. Attach the regulator first stage to the tank valve.

7. If the tanks contains breathing gas then analyze the gas by breathing from the regulator second stage attached to the tank. The gas should be tasteless and odorless. The presence of taste or odor might indicate internal corrosion or oil in the compressor.

8. Close the valves and depressurize the system by using the purge valve on the regulator second stage.

9. Disassemble the unit carefully if transporting the equipment.

Tell If Your Air Tank Is Low Or High Pressure

The gauge attached to your air tank indicates the amount of air remaining.

Air tanks, used primarily by SCUBA divers and paintball enthusiasts, are either low or high pressure. The air is measured in pounds per square inch (psi). Low pressure for divers is defined as 2400 to 2640 psi. High pressure is defined as 3300 to 3500 psi. 3000 psi is a standard amount. Low pressure in paintball is a 450 psi output with high pressure being 850 psi. The tanks will range from 3000 psi to 4500 psi. Paintball also sells tanks that allow you to adjust the pressure of the air in the tank. This is not possible with SCUBA tanks.

Instructions

SCUBA Tank Identification

1. SCUBA cylinders will have a flat bottom if they are low pressure.

Look at the entire cylinder. A low pressure tank will have a flat bottom. The bottom will be covered in hard plastic to protect the cylinder. A high pressure tank will have a round bottom. Hard plastic also covers this bottom, but the plastic curves with the metal and has square edges that protrude from the bottom, showing the round portion.

2. Look at the top of the cylinder around the valves. There should be a label that identifies the maximum pressure the tank can hold. For example, it might say "Maximum Pressure 3000 psi." Many dive shops do not overfill a tank to avoid damaging the tank, valves and regulator. In the example, they might only fill the tank to 2800 psi instead of 3000 psi to avoid overfilling.

3. Ask a dive shop professional to identify the make and model of your tank to determine the maximum pressure it can withstand. Shop professionals have likely seen the majority of makes and models and can assist you in identifying the pressure your cylinder can hold. You can also use an internet search engine to input the specifications of the tank and search for the specific tank's pressure.

Paintball Air Tank Identification

4. Paintball tanks hang off the bottom of the gun and often have covers.

Identify the brand of the air tank. The leading paintball air tank brands are Crossfire, Pure Energy, Ninja, Guerilla, Empire and Custom Products. The more information you have about the tank, the easier it is to locate the tank's specifications.

5. Find where the psi is listed on the tank. It will often be on the label or printed on the tank itself. Each brand produces different sizes, from 3000 to 4500 psi. Use a search engine to check the brand's tank variety and where they list the size of their tanks on the product itself.

6. Consult a seasoned paintball enthusiast at a local paintball court or store. Bring the tank to the person to try and identify the size of the tank. Compare your tank to others on sale in stores to narrow down your particular tank's pressure limits.

Sell Airsoft Guns

Sell Airsoft Guns

Airsoft guns look fairly realistic, except for the bright orange color painted on the gun. These guns shoot BBs, and many parents let their children play with the guns because they offer a safer way to teach children to shoot properly. As a seller, you'll also find others interested in buying and collecting the guns--including adults without children. Due to the large number of retail outlets, you'll start out with a built-in market.

Instructions

1. Find wholesale suppliers that offer Airsoft guns at below retail cost. Check with your local flea market for wholesale guide books, which list hundreds of wholesale suppliers offering a variety of products. The cheaper you can get the guns, the more profit you'll make.

2. Look at the Airsoft gun, checking for the orange stripe. This stripe must be on the gun for you to sell it as an Airsoft gun because it indicates that the gun takes BB pellets. You cannot sell Airsoft guns without the stripe, nor can you advertise the guns as Airsoft.

3. Read the laws of your state, checking carefully for information on selling Airsoft guns. Certain areas, including Washington D.C., San Francisco and New York City, prohibit the sale of Airsoft guns. In portions of Michigan, it's also illegal to sell these guns.

4. Sell the Airsoft guns at gun shows in your region. Check with the organization or group planning the event and follow the rules in place about selling at the show. You'll often have access to thousands of customers and may even find new wholesale suppliers working at the show.

5. Ask to see identification before making any sale. Most states require that customers be at least 18 years to purchase an Airsoft gun. Depending on your city or state, you may need to make a copy of their ID or keep a personal record of the sale, including the purchaser's name and address.

Remove Black Anodizing From Aluminum

Colored anodizing makes aluminum clips more durable.

Anodizing creates a hard layer on metal that makes it more durable and weather resistant, but over time, anodized surfaces develop scratches that don't clean or polish away. As with most things, the darker the color, the more defects tend to show, making black anodizing one of the worst colors for showing scratches and dings. Because anodizing is a chemical process in creation, a chemical process is also required to de-anodize aluminum, but the de-anodizing process is much easier. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove the aluminum parts from other objects if possible. If you cannot detach the aluminum parts from adjacent objects, cover the adjacent objects with plastic and tape them with duct tape so that they will not be damaged during the de-anodizing process.

2. Fill a gallon container with warm water, and add 1 tbsp. of drain cleaner.

3. Mix the drain cleaner in the water, and place the aluminum pieces in the container. If you could not remove the aluminum pieces, apply the cleaner to the pieces using a sponge.

4. Remove the pieces from the container every minute or two to wipe away the residue, called smut, with a rag. Place the pieces back in the container, and repeat the process every minute or two until you have removed all the anodizing. For stationary pieces, wipe down with a rag every minute to remove the smut, and reapply the cleaner with a sponge. Repeat this process every minute or two until you have removed all the anodizing.

5. Rinse the pieces thoroughly with cool water. Rinse separate pieces in a container or with a water hose. Spray attached pieces with a water bottle or rinse with a sponge.
