Paint Motorcycle Gas Tanks

The gas tank is one of the few places to personalize your bike.

The gas tank is one of the most visual parts of your bike, especially on a chopper, in fact, on classic cruisers, the gas tank is one of the only places you can put graphics. Imagery can certainly define the entire character of your bike, so painting your gas tank is very important. You can do this in a few simple steps, and the more care you put into it, the better your tank (and your bike) will look.

Instructions

1. Empty the tank of gas.

2. Remove the gas tank from the frame. There are usually a few screws in the front and in back. In addition, there may be bolts under the tank. Either way, you will know when they are all off. Before you can do this, you will probably also want to remove the seat, and disconnect the fuel shut off valve, as well as the tank's fuel line.

3. Remove the gas cap from the tank. If yours is not budging, you may decide to leave it on to save time and reduce the chance of breaking the tank seal or cap. If so, tape this part off very carefully right now. Make sure there are no fumes, or excess gas in the tank. Dry it completely.

4. Rig up your sand blaster and blast away all the paint on your gas tank. Go right down to the bare metal, but don't push your luck. You don't want to compromise the tank metal at all. In fact, on old gas tanks, and if you suspect cracks, or rust, you may just want to hand sand, or use a lower power sanding disk attached to a power drill.

5. Inspect the tank for cracks or weaknesses, especially around the seams and dents. If you find problems you have to take care of these now. Take it to a professional to repair or use an approved epoxy to fill the cracks and weakness along with a fiberglass layer. Because, again, the tank is a highlight of most motorcycles, taking the tank to a professional might be the best option.

6. Apply your first coat of primer. Use fast strokes to create several light layers. Let the tank dry between coats and use several coats until you are satisfied. You can apply as many primer coats as you like, sometimes as many as six or more can be used.

7. Sand your primer using a very high-grit sandpaper such as 120 or even 360 grit. This sanding is to smooth the natural texture of the paint, and allow your next coat to go on as smooth as skin. You will want to apply one coat, let dry, then turn the piece over and hit the other side.

8. Tape off any areas you do not want to be covered, if any, then change or clean your spray gun nozzle and fill your paint sprayer with your final paint coat. Holding your nozzle several inches away from a test sheet (aluminum or similar, a piece of poster board even works), spray a few test strokes, moving the nozzle at different speeds and checking to see the result. There should be no bead-ups, or runs in your strokes, but the area should be completely covered in one or two strokes.

9. Apply your paint to the gas can using the nozzle and stroke you mastered on the practice or test sheet. Apply paint to the whole surface at once, getting the top and sides done first. Then after drying, the bottom side. Get into all the crevices around the welds, using a smaller nozzle to avoid runs and bead-ups.

10. Apply the metallic flake, or top coat to the gas can if any. Follow the same process as you did with the first coat of paint.

Customize Your Own Throwback Jersey

It is popular for sports fans young and old to wear throwback jerseys. The term throwback refers to a jersey that is a variation or replica designed to resemble or replicate a uniform from that team's past. Fans wear these jerseys to the game to show their undying support for their team and knowledge of that team's history. They also wear it around town to show a unique sense of sports fashion.

Instructions

1. Pick your favorite sports team and research their history. Pick a jersey design from the team's past that you like.

2. Go to your local sporting goods/clothing store or shop online to find and purchase the design of your choice. Purchase a blank jersey--no lettering, no numbers--so you can customize it at home.

3. Spell your name, your favorite player's name, or even a nickname and place the four-inch letters across the back of the jersey from left to right at the shoulder blades. If you are spelling a long name, arrange the letters so there is a slight arch, which will allow the name to fit on the jersey. A smaller name can go straight across.

4. Use the adhesive backing on the letters and firmly press down on the letter, keeping it in place. Safety pin the letters in position as an extra precaution so they do not move while you are stitching the letters.

5. Thread the needle with the same color as the jersey.

6. Begin sewing at the corner of the letter and work your way around. Form tight stitches so the letter will stay on the jersey. Rotate the jersey around the letter while you stitch.

7. Knot the string tight when you are finished with a letter, so the stitches do not come loose.

8. Place the eight-inch numbers in the middle of the back of the jersey.

9. Repeat steps 4-7 to attach numbers to jersey.

Camouflage Your Airsoft Gun

Camouflage Your Airsoft Gun

Airsoft is a fun sport of skill and strategy. Much like paintball, the less you are able to be seen while playing, the better. It often helps to have an airsoft gun that blends in just as well as the player does, which is where learning camouflage an airsoft gun comes in handy.

Instructions

1. Prepare your space. Use a large cardboard box or a high table that has seen better days to elevate your workspace. Put plenty of newspaper around the area that you will be painting on to keep paint off of your work surface. If you are working outside, it may be a good idea to use masking tape to seal your newspaper down, so you don't have to worry about the wind blowing it away or, worse, into your camouflage paint and ruining your design.

2. Empty the gun. Take all pellets out of the magazine and out of the chamber. In the event paint gets into your gun somehow, you risk cementing your pellets to the inside of your gun or clip, making it difficult or impossible to dislodge.

3. Plug up the tip of your gun to keep as much paint out of the chamber as possible. Roll tissue into a tiny cylinder and jam it into the tip of the gun. If there are any other holes or openings in your airsoft gun, be sure to plug those as well to prevent paint from seeping in.

4. Section off the parts of the gun that you don't want painted, and use masking paint to keep the paint off. Masking tape is the best type of tape to use; it won't damage the gun once it is removed.

5. Spray paint your gun. Use any type of spray paint that is approved for the plastic or metal that your gun is made of for best results. Hold the can about six to eight inches and spray. A camouflage pattern usually consists of two or three colors, so start with the lighter one first and move to the darkest. You may wish to use a brush to paint the army fatigue detail on your gun for a more authentic effect.

6. Let it dry. This can't be stressed enough. It is best to allow 24 to 48 hours for your airsoft gun to dry, or all of the hard work you put into camouflaging it will be for nothing. After that time has passed, take it out for a few rounds on your favorite course.

Oil A Paintball Gun

Both the o-rings and bolt of a gun need oil.

Paintball guns use pressurized air to fire paintballs at targets. To keep the gun firing as accurately as possible, both the bolt and o-rings require oil and cleaning. Oiling a paintball gun reduces friction, allowing the bolt to fire balls faster; oiling the o-rings prevents air from leaking from the gun. Users should oil a gun after every two or three uses.

Instructions

1. Remove the gun's bolt. Most semi-automatic and electric guns have a bolt pin on the back of the marker that holds the bolt in place. Pull the bolt pin out to remove the bolt. Not all markers require users to fully remove the bolt pin to remove the bolt.

2. Locate the o-ring on the bolt. Most bolts contain two circular, rubber o-rings, one on the front end and another on the back end. Place a drop of oil on the top and bottom of the o-ring. Use your finger to rub the oil around the ring.

3. Place a drop of oil on the top and bottom of the bolt. Use your fingers to spread the oil around the bolt.

4. Remove excess oil from the bolt with your finger.

Restore An Old Hammer

Restoring an old hammer is one way to get more use out of an effective and efficient tool. Not only will you save some money, you will also lengthen the life of a favorite tool. Many times removing the rust and other buildup or replacing the handle may be all you need to do. This is a fun project that takes little time to complete. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove the handle of the hammer. Use a hacksaw and cut off the handle just below the head. You can purchase a new handle or make one yourself using a variety of woods. Using carpenter's pliers, remove the wedge that's located at the top of the hammerhead.

2. Look for a nail or a screw underneath the wedge. Place the head of the hammer in the vice and tighten it so the head will not move. Use a nail punch and a hammer to remove any nails or screws. If the nail does not fall out, you may need to use a drill to get the remaining pieces out.

3. Clean the head of the hammer using a grinder, sandpaper and a wire brush. The grinder is used to reshape the face of the hammer. If the hammer is covered in rust and other debris, the grinder can help loosen these materials. Use 100-grit sandpaper to smooth out the metal. Use the wire brush to smooth out hard-to-reach places between the claws of the hammer. Use 400-grit sandpaper for your finishing touches.

4. Purchase a new handle for the hammer if you don't want to make one. Bring the hammerhead with you to the hardware store so you can find a handle that's the right size. Stain the handle, or purchase one that has already been stained.

5. Place the hammerhead on top of the handle. You will notice that the handle has a slot at the top. Use a mallet to attach the hammerhead to the handle. Use the mallet to insert the wedge into the slot. File the wedge using a chisel, if necessary.

Build A Woodsball Fort

Build a Woodsball Fort

Woodsball is what many imagine when they think of paintball: the military-style combat game that takes place in wooded lots and rolling fields. A few acres in the back of anyone's property can be turned into a small woodsball field, and one of the most useful improvements that can be built is the woodsball fort.

Instructions

1. Survey the ground and make a mental list of places where you might build the fort. There are two considerations that will automatically rule out any site. First, if a nearby hill or knoll dominates the site, it means opponents can shoot down into the fort. These sites cannot be used. Second, the ground should be reasonably level.

2. Factor in two secondary considerations to narrow down the list. First, does the ground around the site offer a clear field of fire? Second, are there some conveniently placed trees to use in place of posts? Having these two things will minimize the amount of work you need to do, but are not as critical as the factors from Step 1. Choose your site from what should now be a very short list.

3. Sketch a plan for your fort, measuring the distances with the tape measure. Having even a crude plan will make building the fort much easier, especially since many woodsball forts are cheaply built from scrap materials. This plan should include either a doorway or a blind entryway to the fort to prevent opponents from shooting directly into the fort.

4. Set posts around the perimeter of the fort as planned. These can be either metal posts, wooden posts or both depending on what is available. Use the shovel and post-hole digger to dig a neat, cylindrical hole roughly 2 feet deep. Place the post in the hole, check it with the level, and fill the hole back in. Tamp the dirt with the tamping rod to form a solid, compacted earth bed for the post.

5. Fasten the scrap timber around the perimeter to form the walls. This can be done by driving nails into the wooden posts or the trees that have been incorporated into the fort, or by drilling holes and using bolts, nuts, and a wrench in the case of metal posts. Given that the fort will take a lot of punishment, put a nail or bolt into these walls for every foot of height.

6. Use the saw to cut crenellations along the tops of the walls and openings for shooting into the sides as desired.

7. Use the machete or weed whacker to clear away any undesired brush that obscures the fort's field of fire.

Homemade Paintball Field

Paintball players use strategy and accuracy to eliminate opponents.

Paintball is a recreational and competitive activity based on teamwork and strategy. The players compete against opponents and eliminate them by hitting them with paintballs from a paintball gun. The type of paintball course also plays a large part in having a functional paintball game, as it can affect the tactics used by the players. A paintball field without any places for players to find cover can make the game too easy, while one that has too many hiding spots can drag the game out too long.

Instructions

1. Determine the type and size of the paintball field desired. It could be an indoor field or an outdoor field. Though indoor fields are convenient because they offer protection from stormy weather, outdoor fields are not as limited in size.

2. Find an indoor spot or outdoor piece of land large enough for the size of the paintball field desired. You can build your paintball field in the woods, as this allows the paintball players many areas to find cover behind trees and large boulders.

3. Place wooden pallets in different areas around the paintball field. These can be used as bunkers for the players to hide behind. Use tree branches and brush to camouflage the pallets so they are not as distinguishable.

4. Place car or truck tires around the field. Stack the tires in different areas to allow the players to find cover behind or inside the stack of tires.

Az Games For Kids

Challenging language skills can be mastered through games.

Spending a rainy day inside, whether at school or home, is an opportunity to teach youth different levels of language skills. Whether you're interested in encouraging students to work on the computer and finding sites online or would rather spend some quality time playing an educational board game at home, various options are available. Learning the intricacies of the English language in a fun way ensures future curiosity.

A-Z Junior

Fundex Games' A-Z Junior is a game geared towards children 5 years of age and older. Kids utilize a single electronic board that props up and has a single square for each letter of the alphabet. Category and player buttons appear at the top of the unit. To begin play, one player pushes his play button as well as a category button. Categories are numbered and random and include topics such as desserts, things that fly and types of nuts. The next step is to pull a card from the draw pile and see which topic applies to his category. The goal is to shout out a name that fits in the category and begins with a letter of the alphabet. Each child or team is running against a timer set at 30 seconds and must get as many different letter answers per round as possible. Each letter corresponds with a point. The player or team with the most points wins.

Anagram Challenge

Intended to be enjoyed by children 6 years of age and older, Activity Village's Anagram Challenge is a fun, educational way to explore the alphabet, individual letters, how letters create words, imaginative thinking and creative reasoning. Use letter tiles from another word game. such as Scrabble, or cut card stock into small squares and mark each space with a letter. Be sure to use a permanent marker for this step. To begin, decide whether kids will compete individually or on teams. Next, determine how many letters players will be unscrambling to make words. For example, ages 5 and 6 should work with three or four letters versus students 7, 8 and 9 working with six and seven letter words. Hand out enough tiles to each team and make sure they are mixed up--out of order. Set a time and instruct players they have that specific amount of time to create as many words as they can. The team with the most correctly spelled words listed on paper or shouted out wins.

Stick to It! Phonics Games--short vowels-long vowels

Stick to it! Phonics Games--short vowels-long vowels are two challenging games from game maker Educational Insights. They share the same board game designs, rules and principles of play. The only difference being the length of the partial words given as clues to players before taking their turns. Suitable for ages 5 years and up, kids take turns throwing a Velcro ball at one of two sides on a game board that attaches to the wall. Players choose between the letter or photo side before beginning play and then attempt to land their ball on a specific space. Once their ball lands on spot, children must identify what they've landed on, say it aloud, provide a rhyming word or answer a provided optional question about it. The player with the most correct guesses wins.

Build A Speedball Field

A derivative of paintball, speedball is a fast and furious game that stresses the use of bunkers during competition. Pioneered in Southern California out of little more than an open field and some plywood, the formalization of speedball helped to jump start the popularization of this now beloved sport. Luckily, speedball fields can be created by most any ambitious amateur. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Locate your site. A speedball field should be located far from cars, pedestrians and other easily-damaged non-participants. But ideally, your speedball site should be easily accessible to players, and shouldn't need to be taken down after each and every game.

2. Measure out your field. A typical speedball field measures about 50-60 yards long, and 30-40 yards wide. The ground should be flat, and as free as possible of holes, rocks and trees.

3. Construct your bunkers. Bunkers can be made out of anything from plywood to tires to old washing machines, although you can also use the official, inflatable types. The bunkers should, however, be stable enough to not get knocked over by players.

4. Place a small bunker in the back center of each team's territory. This will be the starting position for each team.

5. Set up the rest of your field to your heart's content, although each team should have the same number of bunkers, and they should be kept fairly symmetrical across the field. Keep the center of your speedball field relatively open, to allow for shooting lanes and easy running.

Remove Jhook Wiper Blades

Remove J-Hook Wiper Blades

The process for removing wiper blades from a vehicle depends on the type of wiper arms they are connected to. A wiper arm serves as a connection between the blade and the motor that powers the blade's movement across a windshield. There are a variety of connection types, and blades with hooked or "J" wiper connectors are prevalent, sold both at general merchandise store car sections and auto parts retailers. Just as you probably surmised, the end of a J-hook wiper arm has a hook shaped like the letter "J." The wiper blade's center connection fits and locks into this hook. Learning and preforming the blade removal process for a J-hook type of wiper blade is extremely easy to do.

Instructions

1. Lift the driver-side wiper arm off the windshield and let it rest in a vertical position.

2. Find the safety mechanism at the center of the wiper blade. Depending on the brand of wiper blade, you are looking for either a small lever or a clasp. This mechanism is responsible for ensuring that the blade remains securely on the wiper arm.

3. Undo the safety mechanism. This "unlocks" the blade.

4. Hold the wiper arm with one hand; with the other, pull the blade out of the hook.

5. Place a dry sponge on the windshield, and rest wiper arm's bare tip onto it. This is a precaution against scratching your windshield.

6. Repeat this removal process on the passenger-side wiper blade.

Start A 3man Paintball Team

Choose a three-man paintball team to play casually or professionally.

Paintball is a fun way to spend an afternoon with friends and family members. Serious paintball enthusiasts may wish to gather together a few of these friends and fellow paintball lovers to start a three-man team. The team can be organized to play casually against other local groups or can be organized to compete professionally on a regional or national level. There are many points to consider when organizing a three-man paintball team.

Instructions

1. Contact any friends, family members or people you have met at a local paintball field and ask if they wish to join a team. Pick up fellow paintball enthusiasts that have the time, resources and equipment to play on a regular basis.

2. Gather the prospective team members together and discuss your goals and motivations for the group. For instance, you may wish to compete professionally while another potential member may only wish to casually play on the weekends.

3. Organize a practice schedule. Meet with the new members of your paintball team on a regular basis to practice. Make sure that each member knows maintain his equipment. During these meetings you should also organize strategies and choose a team captain and name.

4. Practice together. This practice could entail playing one another or finding another paintball team or group of men or women that are willing to play against you as a team.

5. Seek sponsorship, if desired. Ask local businesses, friends or family members to sponsor you in order to pay for tournament entrance fees, team uniforms and equipment. In return, businesses can be offered free advertising or a share of any winnings.

6. Play at local or regional tournaments. Information for these tournaments can be located at a local paintball field's website or through advertising at the local fields. Before this occurs, make up team uniforms and practice your plays and strategies.

Attach An Adjustable Stock To A Paintball Gun

You can add a stock to the rear of the paintball gun.

Playing paintball is a fun way to enjoy virtual warfare with friends. It involves strategy, teamwork and, most important, an effective weapon. There are various paintball guns on the market, but almost all of them have the capacity to add a rear stock. Adding an adjustable stock to your paintball gun allows you to support the weapon better, which increases accuracy when firing. These stocks can be attached and removed quickly, depending on how you like to play.

Instructions

1. Access the CO2 cartridge in your paintball gun and remove it. This cartridge is usually located inside the handle of the gun. On other guns it is a larger tank that screws on to the rear of the gun near the base of the handle.

2. Locate the slot at the rear of the paintball gun. This is the slot where you attach the adjustable stock.

3. Slide the small end of the stock into the slot at the back of the paintball gun and flip the locking mechanisms near the base of the stock down to lock it in place. Some stocks may have screws at the base, which need to be tightened to secure the stock. If the stock attachment is inside the gun, proceed to the next step.

4. Remove all screws on the side panel of the paintball gun. Remove the side panel to expose the internal components. Locate the stock attachment mechanism at the rear of the gun.

5. Fit the stock in place over the mechanism and replace the side panel of the gun and screws.

Make Darts For Blowgun Hunting

Blowguns have been an effective hunting tool for hundreds of years, and some are still used in their traditional form today by many tribes across the rain forest regions of South America. Blowgun darts are known to be more effective than arrows because of their easy construction and rate of fire, in fact blowgun darts can reach speeds in excess of 400 feet per second and are easily retrievable and re-useable. Blowgun dart construction is a very simple process, and with a few basic instructions anyone can create blowgun darts for hunting.

Instructions

1. Use a material that can be sharpened to a fine point such as bone or hardwood (for example, bamboo). These materials can be made light and durable for multiple use.

2. With a rough rock or sharpening stone, sharpen the material to a fine circular shape that will fit inside the hollow of the blowgun, allowing a slight space around the diameter of the projectile around 1/16 of an inch. Scrape and grind the material while rotating it in your hand to form a smooth circular exterior.

3. Sharpen the tip to a fine point, enough to prick your finger with light pressure, then apply grease from animal fat. Bacon grease is fine to use.

4. Attach a one-inch long tuft of rabbit hair or frayed feathers to the thick end of the dart by using glue made from pine pitch or sap. Wrap the tuft around the dart and secure with glue or tie with animal sinew.

5. Allow the darts to dry for a few days and then test their efficiency by firing the blow gun.

Repair Bb Guns

A spring-loaded BB gun can jam when the BB gets stuck in the spring.

Spring powered BB guns rely on the integrity of the spring to properly transport the BB from the magazine to the firing chamber. The spring can inadvertently capture a BB pellet inside of its loops during use and keep the BB from traveling to the firing chamber. This causes the gun to misfire. You can repair a BB gun that has jammed by following a procedure that works on any spring-powered BB gun. The repair does not damage the spring and will enable the BB gun to again fire BB pellets when the trigger is pressed.

Instructions

1. Cock the BB gun's spring by pulling back on the sliding plate on the top. Press the trigger to release the spring. Repeat this procedure two more times.

2. Remove the magazine cartridge from the bottom of the BB gun's handle.

3. Cock the BB gun's spring by pulling back on the sliding plate on the top. Hold the sliding plate back with your other hand.

4. Shake the BB gun from side to side. Continue shaking the BB gun until the stuck BB pellet is ejected from the bottom of the magazine cartridge. Release the sliding plate.

5. Straighten out a paper clip. Hold the magazine cartridge in one hand with the grooved slot at the edge facing you. Hold the paper clip in your other hand.

6. Insert one end of the paper clip into the slot on the magazine cartridge. Pull up about three inches on the end of the paper clip to compress the spring that is inside of the grooved slot.

7. Hold the end of the paper clip inside of the slot at the three-inch mark for 30 seconds. Remove the paper clip from the slot.

8. Cock the BB gun's spring by pulling back on the sliding plate on the top. Aim at a tree or rock in your backyard. Press the trigger to shoot a BB at the tree or rock.

Compressed Air Tank Safety

Compressed air is useful, but can be dangerous.

Compressed air is used to power pneumatic tools. It is a very useful technology for sanders, nailers and other applications, but the presence of compressed air in a work environment presents certain safety concerns that are not present in other workplaces. Injury can result as a result of projectiles fired by air guns, broken hoses that are whipped around by escaping air, or, in a worst-case scenario, an exploding air tank.

Tools

Air tools, like weapons, should be treated as loaded at all times. Don't make the mistake of thinking that something powered by air couldn't be dangerous. A nail, staple or rivet accidentally fired under high pressure could easily blind or even kill a person. Air nailers and staplers should always have working safeties on them, which prevent them from firing unless they are pressed against a surface. All air tools should be disconnected when not in use and kept out of the reach of children.

Hoses

Air hoses should be inspected regularly for wear, leaks or corrosion. Air hoses must be rated at minimum to a pressure equal to the compressor to which they are connected. If you connect a 120 psi compressor to a hose that is only rated to a 100 psi, you run the risk of the hose exploding, causing a hazard to yourself and other workers.

Compressors

Compressors should be drained of air at night or whenever they will not be used for a period of time. They should be oiled according to manufacturer instructions, maintained regularly, and kept out of rain or extreme cold. Situating a compressor in a separate room from where most work is done will increase safety and also relieve workers of the sometimes annoying levels of noise made by air compressors.

Work Environment

Never lay air hoses across walkways in a workshop. This is a tripping hazard. Run permanent air connections along the ceiling that drop down to work stations. Use a compressor that is appropriately sized for the number of people who may be using it at one time. All employees should be trained in the proper use of air tools, as well as in the functioning and maintenance of the air compressor.

Personal Safety

Safety glasses should be worn when using air tools. A nail that is fired at high speed into a piece of wood, if it meets another nail or an obstruction, has the potential of ricocheting back, possibly hitting the operator in the face. Compressed air should not be used for cleaning dirt or dust from clothing or skin, particularly around the ears. A blast of compressed air into an ear is capable of rupturing the eardrum.

Import Body Armour Into Canada

Importing items into Canada requires the business that's having the shipment sent to them to get a variety of paperwork together, to pay any necessary taxes and tariffs, and to have shipments inspected. If the business is importing body armour then it's important that all laws for the types of body armour being brought into the country are followed and that all of the necessary forms are in order.

Instructions

1. Put together your final accounting package. This is all of the necessary copies of the documents listed in the "Things You'll Need" section. Make sure that all of these documents are properly gathered before you proceed.

2. Submit your documentation to the Canadian Border Services Agency. This agency is responsible for checking shipments and for authorizing imports into the country. Once your documentation has been submitted, the agency will calculate what taxes or tariffs you will owe on your shipment of body armour.

3. Pay all of the necessary fees that you owe the government. Once the fees have been received and your import paperwork evaluated, the shipment of body armour will be released into your custody.

Pc Beach War Games

Relive a famous moment from World War II with a PC beach war game.

The D-Day landing at Normandy was a decisive moment in World War II, the moment at which the United States threw its military might into the fight to stop Hitler. Because this event was such an iconic moment in United States military history, there are several PC games that allow players to re-create the battle, either explicitly casting the player as a soldier at Normandy or providing a fictionalized beach warfare scenario.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

"Medal of Honor: Allied Assault" was created by Steven Spielberg, the director of "Saving Private Ryan." That movie famously brought the beach warfare of the D-Day landing to movie screens in a vivid cinematic depiction, and "Allied Assault" seeks to do the same in an interactive context. The game's first level is a harrowing re-creation of the Normandy landing in which players must dodge explosive mortars and negotiate barbed-wire mazes to fight their way up the beach and liberate the German gun nests. Like the movie, this is a bloody affair in which death, for the player and their allies, is a gunshot away.

Beach Head

The "Beach Head" series of games--"Beach Head," "Beach Head 2002," and "Beach Head: Desert War"--take place in a fictionalized conflict clearly inspired by the Normandy beach warfare. In "Beach Head" games, players take on the role of a lone sniper with only a turret-mounted heavy machine gun to defend them against the oncoming waves of enemy soldiers. Later levels pit planes and attack tanks against the player, whose firepower is augmented with grenades.

Call of Duty 2

While the first "Call of Duty" game distanced itself from the earlier "Medal of Honor" by avoiding the Normandy landing, the sequel attempts to one-up Spielberg's game. The "Call of Duty" games place a premium on smooth, fair game-play over the "Medal of Honor" series' cinematic excess, and as such the beach war level in "Call of Duty 2" is a more arcade-style test of reflexes and the player's skill with a rifle. However, without a fast trigger finger and a little luck, the beach warfare in "Call of Duty 2" is still hectic and hard to survive.

Close Combat: Invasion Normandy

Offering a more tactical, considered approach than the fast-action gun-play of other titles, "Invasion Normandy" continues the long-running "Close Combat" series with an installment set in the beach fighting of D-Day. Players assume the role of an all-seeing commander who must deliver his men safely through a series of missions centered around the Normandy landings... but if the choice is between saving a man or winning the round, the mission always comes first.

Build An Airsoft Tank

The term "airsoft" applies to commercial and homemade weapons and equipment that duplicate real weapons used by soldiers, although the non-lethal use is designed for use by hobbyists and "war game" enthusiasts. You can build your own "tank" to provide both protection and assault capabilities during airsoft games. A golf cart will be adapted for this purpose, with supplies from a hardware store and hobby shop also necessary. Tools that most hobbyists already have on hand will be needed as well.

Instructions

1. Measure the height and width of the open compartment on both sides of the golf cart. Write these measurements down on a piece of paper. Measure the width and height of the open space on the front and back of the golf cart. Write these measurements down on the piece of paper.

2. Purchase 1-inch thick pieces of plywood large enough to make the sections that were written down. Have the hardware store cut the plywood to these dimensions.

3. Drill a series of holes down the two sides of the plywood section with a portable drill, starting a 1/2 inch down from the upper left corner and 1 inch in. Stop drilling when you reach the bottom of the plywood section. Repeat this procedure with the other side of the plywood section.

4. Place the plywood section against the vertical poles that are on the left and right sides of the golf cart where the passenger sits. Run plastic twist ties through the holes and around the vertical poles. Tie the twist-ties down to secure the plywood section to the side of the golf cart. Repeat this entire procedure with the other plywood section and the driver's side of the golf cart. Repeat this entire procedure with the front and back of the golf cart.

5. Stand on the hood of the golf cart and climb into the cab and sit in the driver's seat Draw a 5-inch by 7-inch rectangle against the plywood facing you at about eye level with the grease pencil. Cut out the outline with the hand saw.

6. Cover the hole with thick layers of cellophane wrap. Tape the cellophane wrap to the sides of the plywood with masking tape.

7. Repeat this entire procedure to make another rectangle, only this time facing the passenger seat. Repeat this entire procedure to make yet another rectangle to the right of the first one, only half the size. Leave this opening uncovered.

8. Have you and your "gunner" enter your "airsoft tank." Place the barrel of an airsoft rifle through the uncovered hole. Start the engine and plow into the "enemy" as your gunner fires from the safety of the tank you have made.

Remove The Magazine Plug On A Browning A5

Remove the plug to increase your shotgun's magazine capacity.

The Browning A5 is a semi-automatic shotgun popular for sporting and recreational uses. Like most sporting shotguns, the A5 comes with a magazine plug installed that limits its magazine capacity from 4 rounds to 2 rounds - the legal limit for hunting in most states. However, when shooting for recreational purposes, the higher magazine capacity may be desired. Removing the magazine plug is relatively easy, requires no extra tools or parts, and can be accomplished in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

1. Cycle the action multiple times to make sure that the magazine is empty. Make certain the gun is unloaded by pulling back the slide until it locks in place and visually verifying that the action is empty.

2. Unscrew the magazine cap. You should be able to do this by hand without the assistance of any tools. With the magazine cap removed, the top of the magazine plug should be visible.

3. Grasp the top of the magazine club and pull it upward to remove it.

4. Replace the magazine cap.

Make A Mini Water Gun

Super Soakers and other mammoth liquid death guns are the ultimate water weapons short of the hose, but some water fights demand stealth rather than outright power. Fortunately, lying around your house you probably already have a powerful squirt gun: the common spray bottle. Make the tank a little smaller and you can easily smuggle it with you in places where a bigger squirt gun would be conspicuous.

Instructions

1. Get a used spray bottle such as one used to hold window cleaner and clean it out. Rinse out the bottle, then fill it up with water and squirt water out of the nozzle until there is nothing but water in the bottle.

2. Cut the bottom two-thirds of the bottle off with scissors. This is going to be the tank of your mini water gun. Make it bigger or smaller depending on how small you want the gun to be.

3. Cut the tube so that it is slightly shorter than the section of the bottle remaining. It should come down to near the bottom, but not push against it.

4. Cut a square of plastic the size of the hole in the bottom of the bottle. Glue it to the bottom with epoxy. Wait for the epoxy to set. You now have a mini water gun.

5. Add some rubber cement to the outside of the joint. This can help protect against leaks.

Make A Rocket Shoot Straight In "Lbp2"

Rocket Funland is a secret world you can unlock as you progress through the "LittleBigPlanet 2" (LBP2) video game for the PlayStation 3. This is a platform-style level in which you control your Sackboy, armed with a rocket launcher. The object of the level is to shoot the other Sackboys with rockets to score points. If you want your rockets to shoot straight and hit their targets, you must operate your PS3 controller with steady hands.

Instructions

1. Move your Sackboy around with the left thumbstick. Press "X" to jump -- the longer you hold down the "X" button before releasing it, the higher your Sackboy will jump.

2. Aim with the right thumbstick. There is no targeting reticule, so you must take notice of where the rocket launcher is aiming. To make sure your rocket flies as straight as possible, stop moving as soon as you have your target in sight.

3. Tap "R1" to fire your rocket. If you stop moving the rocket launcher and your Sackboy before firing, the rocket will fire straight at its target.

Assemble An Airsoft Gun

By knowing assemble an airsoft gun, you can make your own modifications.

Airsoft guns provide a good way to learn the basic mechanics of a gun. Not only are they much safer to operate, but they also have very few parts compared to most other guns. Whether you need to clean dirt out of your airsoft gun, are fixing a jammed pellet, making modifications or just want to learn about the internal workings of the gun, learning assemble an airsoft gun is a valuable skill.

Instructions

1. Spread all of the parts out on a towel or piece of newspaper so they are within easy reach and none of the parts gets lost.

2. Set the barrel in the gun, with the end lining up with the front end of the gun. The barrel should rest inside the half-round plastic piece designed to hold it.

3. Slide the recoil spring plug into the recoil spring guide. The guide looks similar to the barrel, but is shorter. The plug should slide straight into the back of the guide.

4. Set one end of the spring inside the spring guide, letting it rest loosely inside the guide.

5. Place the opposite end of the spring over the round plastic piece at the end of the gun, farthest from the barrel.

6. Put tension into the spring by compressing it until the spring and the spring guide can fit inside the gun, directly behind the barrel.

7. Push the barrel guide securely down into the gun, right behind the barrel.

8. Set the slide on top of the gun, lining it up with the body of the gun on both sides.

9. Push the slide back, causing it to slip into the grooves on the side of the airsoft gun.

10. Release the slide, allowing it to move forward into place.

11. Slide the clip into the bottom of the gun.

Paintball Grenade Work

About Paintball and Paintball Grenades

Paintball is a recreational sport that simulates armed combat via the use of CO2-powered guns that fire balls filled with paint that break on impact, marking any players struck. Normally, any player marked with paint is considered dead for that round, and must sit out until a later round. The most common types of paintball games are: Capture the Flag, in which two teams attempt to capture a marker and bring it back to their starting point; and Team Deathmatch, in which two teams attempt to mark each player of the opposing team without being marked themselves. As paintball evolved, more powerful rifles and weapons that better simulate true combat came into use--including paintball grenades, hand-thrown objects that simulate the effect of real hand grenade by spraying paint around a localized area. In games in which paint grenades are allowed, being marked by the paint grenade on any part of the body usually counts as being killed for that round.

Non-Explosive Paint Grenades

There are two types of paintball grenade: explosive and non-explosive. Non-explosive paint grenades are somewhat similar to water balloons, in that they involve a flexible bladder (often made of rubber tubing), which is sealed off tightly on one end and more loosely at the other end. The paint in the grenade is under pressure, and secured with a pin that, when pulled, further loosens one end. After a pin is pulled and the grenade is tossed, the end opens at it strikes the ground, and it spins due to the release of the pressurized paint inside, splattering the paint around in radius similar to the explosive radius of a real hand grenade. Although not perfect in their distribution of paint, most modern grenades produce a fairly uniform scattering of paint, which will almost certainly mark an uncovered player who is too close to the grenade.

Explosive Paint Grenades

An explosive paintball grenade is even more similar to a real hand grenade in that it uses a fuse and a small amount of explosive black powder to spread the paint. A core of black power with a fuse is contained inside a pouch of paint, which is then placed inside an outer casing. A fuse topped with a friction igniting material extends from the top of the grenade, and is lit by striking it like a match. When the grenade is thrown, the fuse burns down; the black powder then explodes, spreading the paint around a localized area. Non-explosive paint grenades are more commonly used, as they do not produce a loud bang (which can be strategically detrimental), while non-explosive grenades are easier to make.

Make Paint Balloons

People that want to play a game of paintball without the equipment can play with paint balloons instead. You can fill the balloons with paint and throw them at others. This can be made into a combat game with teams. Each team can have a number of balloons filled with a specific colored paint. Learn make paint balloons and start planning how you will attack your opponents.

Instructions

1. Wear gloves to start this project. Place newspaper down on your work area.

2. Pour some paint into a clean empty soda bottle using a funnel. You will need enough paint to fill the balloon so that it will break when thrown. You can try this with water first so that you know how much paint you will need in each balloon.

3. Blow up the balloon. Quickly, place the balloon lip over the bottle opening.

4. Hold the balloon lip on the bottle and turn the bottle upside down, so that the balloon is on the bottom and the bottle of paint is draining into the balloon.

Padkontrol Vs Trigger Finger

TriggerFinger and padKontrol are competing drum devices for the discerning deejay.

Korg's padkontrol and M-Audio's TriggerFinger are simple MIDI drum controllers that allow the operator to select and assign musical attributes and functions to a dashboard of pads, sliders and knobs. Controllers are useful for music editors, mixing studios, and deejays who need a convenient method of combining and altering various drum files simultaneously.

Pads

Decide on the kind of pad and how responsive you need it to be. TriggerFinger offers sixteen finger pads. Pads can be assigned with a MIDI channel. The padKontrol pads are slightly more sensitive, with softer and more supple surfaces. TriggerFinger pads detect your pressure and motion primarily in their centers, while padKontrol senses pressure all the way to the edge of the pad.

The Look

Consider the weight and design of the units. TriggerFinger is bulkier, and manufactured in gray and black. PadKontrol is sleeker and lighter, although it is made of the same material, and comes in white with silver knobs and a narrow strip of mirrored material.

Controls

TriggerFinger offers you eight knobs, which can be assigned by the music editor, as well as four sliders. PadKontrol has fewer control knobs, with two of the three present assignable; there are no sliders but the unit does have an X-Y touch pad. The operator can set the two axes to change pitch, apply "aftertouch," or send a "control change" message. There are adjacent flam and roll buttons for impressive note- and time-bending effects. PadKontrol controls also light up to confirm they've been triggered.

Connections

TriggerFinger has a midi line-out, while padKontrol has both a line in and a line out, allowing for better connectivity to your other equipment. PadKontrol also offers a connection for a foot pedal.

How Much Information?

Consider your own expertise with a MIDI package and how much guidance and sofware you're going to use in order to use it proficiently. TriggerFinger offers only a two-page starter's guide, although a PDF manual is also available online; the package also offers Ableton Live Lite, music production software. padKontrol comes with editor software that allows operators to organize music file libraries, and Creative Kontol Pack, a bundle of music production software.

Disassemble A Browning A5

The Browning A-5 semi-automatic shotgun is a fairly straight-forward weapon regarding operation and assembly/disassembly. The A-5 comes barreled either for the 20-gauge or the 12-gauge shotgun shells. Production on the weapon began in 1902, making it one of the older guns still in use. Disassembling the Browning A-5 is a fairly simple task, requiring no tools beyond your own hands.

Instructions

1. Unload the shotgun by pulling back on the operating handle-located in approximately the same place a rifle's bolt might be found-several times to eject any shells that may be loaded into the weapon's magazine. Unloading your weapon should always be the first step whenever you are working on a firearm.

2. Pull the operating lever all the way back to completely open the breech.

3. Place the butt of the shotgun's stock on any sturdy surface so the barrel is pointing skywards and grasp the barrel firmly in one hand.

4. Push the barrel straight down and use your free hand to unscrew the magazine cap underneath the barrel at the very end of the weapon's forearm.

5. Continue applying pressure on the barrel with one hand and use the other to slide the forearm off of the magazine tube.

6. Keep a firm grip on the barrel and gradually release the pressure you have been applying until you are able to draw the barrel out of the receiver.

Remove Paint From A Scuba Tank

After many dives, water can creep underneath the paint, causing bubbles to form.

Scuba tanks are a vital part of every scuba dive or paint-ball trip. Unfortunately, after many dives, or after lots of use, your tank's paint can begin to corrode. Not only will this look awful, but it can harm the protective barriers of your scuba tank. Luckily, the paint can be removed with some equipment and time. This job is best done before your tank has to by hydro-tested, because in the process of removing the paint, you will also need to remove the stickers located on your tank containing vital information concerning your test dates. If you're seeking a "new look" for your tank, removing the paint is the first step. After that, just color in your tank with some permanent markers.

Instructions

1. Cover the valve of your scuba tank with painter's tape. This prevents any type of chemical stripper from getting into your tank, which could contaminate your air.

2. Lightly score your entire scuba tank with the scraper, making sure to score the sticker area. Although you shouldn't make direct contact to the metal, you should get close.

3. Place the stripper on your tank using your chemical-safe brush while wearing the gloves and gas mask. This brush will need to be thrown away afterward, so purchase a cheap one.

4. Let the stripper sit on the paint for at least 15 minutes. The chemical needs time to work.

5. Remove the bubbled-up paint as lightly as possible. If you try to scrape it off too hard, you could damage your tank. Keep reapplying the stripper for stubborn spots.

6. Polish the tank with soap, water and a rag. This gets rid of any leftover paint, stripper or dirt.

7. Clean up the area using the paper bags. Paper soaks up chemical stripper quite well, so grab lots of them.

8. Reapply your hydro inspection stickers to the top of your scuba tank. If you are getting a new test done afterward, make sure to bring the receipt from your last inspection, which provides proof that it is a legal tank.

Make A Nerf Gun Belt

Making a Nerf gun belt gives you a huge strategic advantage over your opposition in which you can easily cream the enemy. A Nerf belt enables you to carry all your preferred Nerf guns during a Nerf battle. Follow these steps to make your very own Nerf belt.

Instructions

1. Gather up all your Nerf guns and decide which guns you need to have on your belt. The most important gun needs to be in the focal holster where you can easily grab it and shoot the enemy. The backup Nerf guns go at other points on the belt. You need to have three or four Nerf guns on your belt.

2. Measure the width and length of your most important Nerf gun for the focal holster. Note the measurements on a piece of paper to refer to as you measure the cut-out from the cardboard.

3. Make the holster 4 inches if the Nerf gun width measures a little less than 4 inches. A small amount of room needs to be available for the Nerf gun to come in and out fast. If the length measures 8 inches, the holster length needs to be 6 inches for the front part, pull out the gun fast, and 8 inches on the back for belt loops.

4. Cut the size of cardboard you need for the front part of the holster and the back part of the holster. Make sure you cut side pieces the same length as your front part of the holster.

5. Tape the holster together and make it look really sharp and ready for action. Again, make it roomy for the Nerf gun to slip in and out of the holster easily.

6. Cut squares in the piece of cardboard that is sticking out the back, so you can thread the belt through the holster. Continue the same steps to make holsters for your other Nerf guns.

7. Thread your holsters onto your belt, being careful not to rip the cardboard. Then, buckle the belt around your waist to fit the holsters so they balance on your hips. You don't want to feel lopsided but even all the way around. Now, tape the holsters to your belt. You want them to be secured and not fall off.

About Gun Cabinets

About Gun Cabinets

Gun cabinets are an essential part of homes where hunters are a part of the family. Display cabinets can be built as custom as the hunter, or gun collector desires. They can be built from exotic wood or as solid as a bank safe complete with combination locks. If you have guns stored in a closet or some other area of the house that anyone can get to, a gun cabinet is something you might want to consider. Does this Spark an idea?

Types

Just as there are many choices in cabinetry in general, the same holds true for gun cabinets. Create your own design or choose one of the many that are available in a local retail outlet. The two basic types are steel and wood, and even a combination of the two. The gun cabinet constructed from wood is used by consumers who want to display their collection. If security is the main issue, a steel gun safe is the choice for you. Keep in mind that the steel cabinets are very heavy and difficult to move.

Prevention/Solution

As with any display case, the glass can be shattered. However, for the prudent homeowner, this will be as far as the would-be burglar will get because the guns will be locked in the cabinet with a steel bar that holds them in place. Glass can be replaced, and cabinets can be rebuilt, but the danger of a thief with your gun is a fear you don't have to live with. The right cabinet for your specific needs is within reach.

Considerations

A gun cabinet is a great way to display your antique gun collection. Since they are built from wood, the avid collector can draw up her own set of plans and see her collection nicely displayed. In addition, the gun cabinet can be a part of her décor in her study or office. By remembering that wood has to be protected, the gun cabinet can last a lifetime. As with any product made from wood, extra care should be taken when moving the gun cabinet as this could cause joints in the wood to work loose.

Features

A nice fireplace with a cherry wood mantle becomes the central focus of any den or living room. With gun cabinets on either side of it, they also become objects of attention. A nicely displayed gun collection in a cabinet constructed from cherry, or other exotic woods, will add features to a room that can be had no other way. The features of the gun cabinet will include cut glass, raised panel doors, decorative molding along the top and carvings around the doors. Feature for feature, the gun cabinet holds more possibilities than any other piece of furniture.

Function

Gun cabinet function is at least two fold; display and security. If your collection is a source of conversation, a custom-built display cabinet is what you need to show off the collection in the living room or den. However, if your gun collection is private, then a gun safe will meet your need as it can be installed in a closet or back room of a house.

Make Simple Paintball Grenades

Paintball is a game played with paint markers and small-diameter paint-filled plastic balls. Many different scenarios may be played, but typically the object of a paintball game is to enter another team's territory with an objective and mark other players to tag them out of the game. Many players also use paintball grenades, which are essentially a delivery mechanism for spraying an area with marking paint.

Instructions

1. Fold one sheet of standard size paper towel in half. The goal is to have a sheet of towel which is doubled for strength and a size which is easier with which to work.

2. Sprinkle a line of baking soda down the middle of the paper towel. The amount should be approximately two tablespoons.

3. Form a packet with the paper towel. Fold one short end of the towel up about 1 inch. Begin with one of the longer sides and begin folding across to the opposite side in 1- to 1 1/2-inch increments. Once folded, apply two or three strips of tape to hold the packet closed. Tap the baking soda down and cut the packet in half to shorten it. Tape the remaining end closed.

4. Remove the top from the water bottle and place 10 to 12 paintballs into the bottle. Add 1/2 cup of hot water, recap the bottle and shake. Set the bottle aside momentarily to allow the paintballs to dissolve.

5. Add one half cup of vinegar to the water bottle. Cap the bottle and move to an open area outdoors.

6. Remove the cap from the bottle and drop the paper towel packet into the bottle. Quickly recap and either set or toss the bottle to an open area. The vinegar and baking soda will react to form gas which will expand the bottle to the point of bursting. The result will be a dispersal of paint in much the same manner as the shrapnel from a grenade.
