Attach A Camelbak To A Molle Vest

A MOLLE vest is a type of tactical modular vest that has many purposes. The military uses a form of MOLLE vest containing tactical armor. Hunters, paintball enthusiasts, fishermen and other outdoor-loving individuals may use them for holding clipped-on items. The main benefit of a MOLLE vest is that it contains webbing strips that make it easy to attach items to the vest, such as ammo pouches, cell phones and other useful accessories. One item that can easily attach to a MOLLE vest is a CamelBak hydration pouch. Some CamelBak pouches come ready to attach right away, while others may take a little more work to connect.

Instructions

DAAS Clips

1. Purchase four DAAS clips to use with the CamelBak hydration pouch. You may want to purchase more in case you lose a few.

2. Slip the split end of the DAAS clip into one of the webbing strips on the back of the MOLLE vest near one shoulder blade. Slip another DAAS clip onto the other side of the vest near the other shoulder blade. Clip the DAAS compatible CamelBak pouch to the DAAS clips.

3. Put the vest on. Note the placement of the CamelBak and how it sits on your back. If you are not happy with the placement, remove the vest and adjust the clips until you are satisfied with the way the CamelBak feels on your back.

4. Add in the other two DAAS clips near the base of the vest and clip the hydration pouch in place. Thread the drinking tube of the pouch through one of the webbing strips on the shoulder to allow easy access to the water as you walk or run.

Velcro Ties

5. Locate the attachment that connects the shoulder straps to the CamelBak hydration pouch itself. Usually there will be a fabric loop, or maybe a metal ring.

6. Slip a zip tie or Velcro strip through this connecting ring on all four sides of the Camel Bak hydration pouch.

7. Slip the other ends of the Velcro strips or zip ties through the webbing holes located on the back of the MOLLE vest. Tighten the straps so the Camel Bak sits tightly against the back of the vest.

8. Adjust the fit as necessary for comfort. Slip the drinking straw through a shoulder web and arrange it over the shoulder for easy access.

Refill Paintball Co2

All paintball guns require propellant to power the cylinder or air tank.

Paintball guns utilize CO2 as a propellant to shoot paintballs. Most players prefer CO2 because it's inexpensive and relatively easy to refill.

Instructions

1. Check the hydro test date on the side of the cylinder to make sure the expiration date is still valid.

2. Determine the cylinder size and type by looking at the sticker on the side of the tank. It will say either "dip tube" or "siphon tube." If your cylinder is a dip tube tank, disregard Step 8 below.

3. Attach the cylinder to the hanging scale. Open the bleed valve and allow the cylinder to completely drain out until it it's empty. Close the bleed valve.

4. Screw in the ASA adapter on the two-valve CO2 refill kit into the bottom of the cylinder. Use a crescent wrench to secure the connection. Attach the nozzle at the end of the fill hose to the cylinder base. Set all valve options and the ASA adapter on the refill kit to "Off."

5. Attach the cylinder to the fill station. Twist and tighten the valve on top of the ASA adapter until the pin pushes through the base of the cylinder.

6. Hang the cylinder on the digital scale and zero it out.

7. Close off the bleed valve of the refill kit. Open the main valve on the cylinder and the main cutoff valve of the refill kit. Fill the cylinder to one ounce under the stated size of the cylinder. The scale will give you the current weight so you can determine the appropriate time to cease filling.

8. Close the main valve on the cylinder. Remove the ASA adapter and the kit. Close the cutoff valve on the refill kit. Open the bleed valve.

9. Close all of the valves and disconnect the cylinder from the fill hose to remove the tank from the fill station.

Clean An Avenger Paintball Gun

Paintball is a fast-paced sport that requires you to keep your equipment in good working order. It's easy for guns to get dirty, grimy and otherwise soiled during a paintball game. After the game, cleaning the gun should be a top priority. Keeping your gun clean and lubed will help it last longer and work better during games. Cleaning an Avenger paintball gun is one of the best ways to keep it working.

Instructions

1. Take apart your Avenger gun according to the schematic that came with the gun. Look up the schematic online if you no longer have it. Take out your gun's air source and put it aside. The air source should not get wet. Take off the gun's grip frame, bolt and hammer or striker.

2. Clean the barrel with a squeegee and wipe it down, inside and out, with warm water and a paper towel or rag. Dry the barrel completely with a rag or paper towel once it has been cleaned.

3. Clean the inside portions of the Avenger's body. Clean the gun with a paper towel or rag and warm water. Use Q-tips or an old toothbrush to clean small parts or hard-to-reach areas of the inside of your gun.

4. Clean out the grip frame with an old toothbrush. Remove all paint and debris before washing the grip frame with warm water and drying it with a paper towel.

5. Inspect the bolt and hammer or striker of your Avenger to make sure the o-rings are intact. Wash the bolt and hammer or striker with warm water and dry them thoroughly. Replace any damaged o-rings, as they can cause air leaks in your gun.

6. Lubricate the internal portions of your Avenger gun with paintball gun oil. Make sure all the parts of your gun are completely dry before putting it back together.

Refill Compressed Air Tanks For Paintball

Paintball markers used in playing the sport of paintball operate with liquid CO2 or compressed air. Liquid CO2 turns into a compressed gas when it runs through a paintball marker. Compressed air tanks are filled with nitrogen, which is just another name for compressed air.

Instructions

1. Fill liquid CO2 tanks by first releasing all the pressure out of the tank. Screw an adaptor onto the end of the tank and release the pressure until the tank is empty.

2. Look at the size tank you are going to refill. Tanks are filled in ounces. For an example, let's use a 24-oz. tank.

3. Close the valve that released the pressure on the 24-oz. tank. Now hang the tank on a digital scale and zero it out.

4. Open the valve on the big supply tank of liquid CO2 that you are refilling from. Watch the digital scale as your tank is refilling. When liquid is going into your tank, it gets cold and heavier. Do not exceed the 24-oz. scale mark on this tank.

5. Cut the pressure off of the big supply tank. Release the pressure off of the line and unscrew the refill tank. The tank is now full.

6. Refill a high-pressure tank by knowing what you are dealing with. These tanks have expiration dates on them. If the refill tank is out of date, you must get it re-tested for safety before you are allowed to refill it. The high-pressure supply tanks start at 3000 psi and go up to 5000 psi, according to the type of tank you purchase.

7. Proceed to refill a high-pressure tank by looking at the gauge on it. They can be filled without emptying. Find the nipple which attaches to your refill tank. This is a quick disconnect feature. Connect the supply tank to your refill tank. The refill tank has two gauges on it. One tells you the pressure on the tank and the other gauge is the regulator gauge, telling you how much pressure is going into your tank as you refill your air tank for paintball.

Most large retailers sell the basics; but to get truly knowledgeable and helpful service, you need to visit a store dedicated to paintball. They will have everything you need. Follow these steps to find a local paintball store.

Instructions

1. Look in the phone book first. Anything listed in your phone book will most likely be an established store.

2. Ask paintball field owners if they know of any local paintball stores. Also find out if they have a bulletin board with store information or coupons.

3. Speak with people wherever you play. Other paintball enthusiasts can provide recommendations on where to buy gear.

4. Look on the PBReview website or the War Pig website. These websites usually have store listings.

5. Buy a few paintball magazines at your local grocer or bookstore. Look through the store listings in the back of your magazines.

Grip A Handgun

On television shows, shooting a gun looks so easy. The detective grabs his handgun while he is running over roof tops, and begins firing away at the bad guys. In real life it, is true that firing a handgun is not difficult. However, in order to learn fire a gun accurately and safely, in a variety of situations, a shooter must first learn properly grip a handgun. A proper grip helps eliminate off-target shots and accidental shootings.

Instructions

Grip a Handgun

1. Steady your mind. It may sound odd when I tell you that the first step in gripping a handgun properly is to steady your mind, but it is true. You need to establish a relationship with the handgun. If you fear it and allow that fear to effect how you handle the weapon, you will put yourself and innocent bystanders in danger. Beginner's nerves are common, but needs to be held in check. You should be in control of the handgun at all times.

2. Grip the butt (handle) of the handgun firmly with your right hand. The right hand should be clutching the top part of the handle. The thumb of your right hand should be on the left side of the handle. The rest of your fingers should be wrapped around the right side of the handle. Your left hand should grip the gun handle from the left side, and slightly below the right hand. Until you are ready to shoot, your trigger finger should either be wrapped around the handle or be resting along the outside of the trigger guard, not on the trigger. The gun should be pointed downward until you are ready to aim at the target.

3. Retain a firm grip on the handgun when you are moving into the shooting position. When you are ready to shoot the target, your arms should be extended with elbows slightly loose to absorb some of the recoil and with the gun straight in front of you. Your trigger finger should move to the trigger. Tighten your grip slightly as you pull the trigger.Recoil will make the entire gun move backwards and the barrel will move up. The degree of recoil varies significantly between handgun models. In some handguns, recoil may be barely perceptible. In other handguns, recoil can be so strong that the unsuspecting shooter may lose control of the weapon. A firm grip helps prevent loss of control over the handgun during recoil.

Refill A Co2 Cylinder

If you are a paintball player, then you know how much fun the game can be. The feeling one receives from running around, using tactics, and attempting to shoot someone to win the game is a rush that must be felt to be understood. However, once you are out of C02 gas, you need to know refill the tank. Luckily, refilling the C02 cylinder is not very difficult.

Instructions

1. Attach the end rod of the ASA adapter on the refill station kit to the nozzle of the C02 cylinder. Turn on the refill station scale and turn it to zero (make sure the unit of measurement for your scale is set to ounces). Using the weight, check to see what the base weight in ounces is for your cylinder. Write this measurement down.

2. Place safety glasses and gloves on before you begin refilling the cylinder. Unscrew the end of the ASA adapter on your refill station kit to turn it off. Once off, attach the rod to the end of the cylinder.

3. Turn off the main valve of the C02 tank (the main valve has a screw on the top). Additionally, turn off the cut-off valve and the purge valve as well. Turn the ASA adapter on by turning it clockwise and hang the cylinder by the hook of the refill station scale. Look at the refill station scale and see what the number says: this is how many ounces needs to be refilled.

4. Turn on the main valve and open the cut-off valve. Watch the scale and see what it says: this is how much pressure can be placed into this cylinder at this time. Close the cut-off valve and open the purge valve. This will release all of the C02 remaining inside the cylinder so you can fill the tank with new air.

5. Open the cut-off valve and fill it to an ounce below what it will hold. The reason for not filling it to its maximum is for safety: if you go to a warmer place or an area with a higher altitude, it could burst the top off of your tank, ultimately damaging it and potentially hurting you. If you get too much C02 into your tank, open the purge valve to release excess C02.

Different Pistol Cartridges

Pistol cartridges come in dozens of forms.

The earliest handguns consisted of a black powder charge lit by a flint to fire a projectile consisting of nothing more sophisticated than a ball of lead. Technology has advanced since the days of black powder, but the premise remains the same. Modern pistol cartridges consist of a charge of explosive powder and a projectile encased in a cartridge. When the hammer of the pistol strikes a point on the cartridge, the powder explodes, and an aerodynamic bullet fires. There are dozens of types of pistol cartridges on the market today. The three most popular pistol cartridges are the .357 Magnum, the .44 Magnum, and the 9x19 Luger.

.357 Magnum Cartridge

Developed in the 1930s, the .357 Magnum cartridge delivers power that its predecessor, the .38 Special, never achieved. The cartridge is one of the most popular handgun cartridges on the market today. The .357 Magnum is noteworthy for the number of manifestations it took before it was standardized into its current form. The .357 Magnum cartridge currently projects the bullet at approximately 1250 feet per second with a muzzle energy of about 550 feet-pounds.

.44 Magnum Cartridges

The .44 Magnum cartridge was developed in the 1950s. The current standard for the .44 Magnum is 1250 feet per second with a muzzle energy of about 800 feet-pounds. At its inception, the .44 Magnum cartridge was touted to have the power necessary to crack an engine block.

9mm Luger (9x19) Cartridges

In 1908, the German Army adopted the 9mm Luger as its official pistol cartridge. The German Army was only the first of many. Today, every army belonging to a NATO country and most others use the 9x19 Luger cartridge as the standard for all handguns. Civilians also favor the 9x19 Luger as the cartridge of choice for personal defense. It is the most popular pistol cartridge in the world.

Airsoft Scenario Ideas

Airsoft scenarios can provide training for armed forces.

Airsoft is a recreational activity similar to paintball that uses lifelike weapons to help create realistic scenarios and training exercises. Airsoft guns fire small (6 mm or 8 mm) pellets and have muzzle velocities that are generally less than 500 feet per second, making them safe for use in a controlled environment.

While simple games like "head-to-head" and "free for all" can provide players with some quick and easy fun, in order to set up entertaining and educational Airsoft scenarios, do a little bit of advance planning.

Capture the Flag

Capture the flag is an objective-based scenario involving two teams that each have a flag at their base. The goal is to retrieve the opposing team's flag and return it to your base before they can do the same thing. Teams often divide so some players are defending the flag while others go on the offensive and try to steal the opponent's flag.

When a player is shot, he must acknowledge that he has been hit and then proceed to the "dead zone," where he remains for a set period of time before re-entering the game. If a player is shot holding a flag, he must leave the flag where he was hit before moving to the dead zone. The game ends when one of the teams has both flags at its base.

Behind Enemy Lines

This scenario involves two teams. The blue team is in enemy territory and must get to a designated "evacuation zone" within a set time limit. The red team also knows where the evacuation zone is, and their objective is to stop the blue team from reaching it.

The red team is allowed to have a few minutes to position themselves before the game begins. If a player on the blue team gets shot, she is out of the game and must head to the dead zone. If a player on the red team gets shot, she must head to the dead zone and wait three minutes before re-entering the game. The game is over when all the players on the blue team are in either the evacuation zone or the dead zone.

Extraction

This scenario involves two teams: the suits and the company soldiers. Half of the suits play the role of corporate executives who want to defect to another company, while the other half play an extraction team sent by the prospective company to retrieve them. All other players are company soldiers and must try to stop the suits from reaching the designated evacuation zone.

Players who are acting as the corporate executives must only use pistols and side arms; this is to simulate the fact that businessmen would likely not know use larger caliber weapons in real life. Other players can use whatever weapons they want.

At the beginning of the scenario, the corporate executives are trapped in a building surrounded by company soldiers. It is up to the extraction team to find the building and get the executives to the evacuation zone. Any player that gets shot must head to the dead zone; the game is over once all the suits are either in the dead zone or the evacuation zone.

Missed Supply Drop

In this scenario, the blue team has a larger force but is extremely low on ammo. It's their job to find the supply crate and reload so they can take out the red team. The objective of the smaller but fully loaded red team is to kill the blue team before members can get to the supply crate and reload.

Reassemble A Spyder E Marker

Spyder manufactures a wide range of entry-level paintball markers, all of which share the same basic internal design. Some are equipped with electronics in the grip frame that replace the direct linkage between the trigger and the sear, which holds back the hammer. While the internal components will feature the same design, electronic markers may have an additional feature called "eyes" that prevent the maker from breaking paintballs by firing too quickly. Thus, reassembly is largely the same for both mechanical and electronic Spyder markers, as long as extra considerations are made for the electronic sear and eyes.

Instructions

Valve and Foregrip

1. Lay out the components in front of you, arranging them by how similar they fit in the marker. Clean any dirty or greasy components by soaking them in soap and water, Dry their parts with paper towels.

2. Unscrew any air tanks or remote lines and try to fire the marker to ensure that there is no air source connected to your marker. Do not attach a CO2 or high-pressure air tank until the marker is completely assembled and you are in an area where it is safe to fire.

3. Assemble the valve unit, which is comprised of the valve pin, cup seal, cup seal guide, valve spring and valve body. The valve pin is seated in the cup seal, which in turn is seated in the cup seal guide. The valve spring should slide over the end of the cup seal and this assembly is placed inside the valve body with the pin pointed out.

4. Insert the valve into the front of the lower tube of the body and fix it either by pin or by screw, depending on which Spyder model that you own.

5. Insert the vertical adapter, which will be fastened by one screw on the underside of the body.

6. Screw the regulator or gas-thru grip into the vertical adapter on the bottom. If applicable, screw the volumizer into the front of the vertical adapter.

Grip Frame

7. Reassemble the grip frame. If you removed any electronic components, such as the board or solenoid, screw them back into place. Make sure that the trigger and sear assemblies are properly installed and operable.

8. Determine if your marker has eyes by looking for small plastic sensors on the end of wires running from the grip frame. If so, carefully route the eye wires in the channel of the grip frame so they do not get pinched when you attach the frame.

9. Attach the grip frame to the underside of the body with a screw at the back and one or two screws at the front, depending on the model.

10. Place the eyes and screw down the eye covers.

11. Screw down the grips.

Internal Components

12. Lightly oil the hammer and bolt with paintball marker oil. One drop on each should be enough.

13. Slide the hammer and bolt into the rear of the body with the pin linking them so that they will be properly aligned.

14. Insert the hammer spring behind the hammer. Behind the spring usually goes a spacer and spring guide.

15. Insert the rear velocity adjuster and secure it with a pin. Be careful, as the hammer spring will be under tension at this point.

16. Attach a top or rear cocking handle by screwing the handle down through the top of the body for a top-cocking handle or by screwing the handle into the back of the bolt for a rear-cocking bolt.

Start Selling Sporting Equipment

A startup takes time and effort.

Starting your own business can be a very difficult and daunting task. While there is always the possible reward of being successful and profitable at the end of all your hard work and determination, there is also a significant risk of failing and not being able to get your business off the ground. The retail business is an extremely competitive one, and succeeding in the retail sporting equipment business can be a long and expensive process.

Instructions

1. Find a suitable location for your sporting equipment store. Visibility and accessibility are key components of a successful location. Find a location for your store that will attract a lot of people, such as a shopping center or an outdoor strip mall.

2. Find a wholesaler of sporting equipment. You must agree on a suitable wholesale price so that you can turn a profit. Securing a contract with a reliable wholesaler is a crucial step in establishing a reliable supply of sporting equipment and other products for your store.

3. Start building a customer base. Visit local institutions, such as schools and colleges. Ask them if they would like you to be their sole provider of sporting goods for their athletic departments. Some of them will have existing relationships, which means it will take time to build a customer base. However, be persistent because dedicated institutional customers will purchase equipment from you for years to come.

4. Increase visibility of your retail business. Volunteer to be the sponsor of local sports teams. Displaying your company name on team shirts and banners may increase your company's visibility in the area and potentially your customer base.

5. Run advertisements. When you are first starting out, you may not be able to afford television or radio spots. Therefore, use more cost effective alternatives, such as Internet ads, newspaper ads and flyers. Over time, you may be able to run ads on local radio and television stations, ideally during sporting event broadcasts.

6. Strengthen your relationship with customers. Provide courteous and reliable customer service. Service damaged sporting equipment promptly. Building a strong rapport with your customer community will help your business succeed over the long term.

Fix An Air Soft M4

Airsoft, like paintball, is a combat-style sport usually played on a private field or range. Airsoft incorporates replicas of military weapons that shoot non-metallic ammunition. The Airsoft M4 is a replica of the U.S. military-issued M4 carbine rifle, and, as is the case with all weapons, will require periodic maintenance. One common problem associated with the Airsoft M4 is a shaky or wobbly stock that occurs over time. The problem can be fixed easily with the right tools.

Instructions

1. Unload the weapon completely. Visually inspect the chamber to ensure that no ammunition is present.

2. Pull down on the stock lever, then slide the stock off. Locate the end rod, into which the stock lever locks.

3. Locate the 1/4-inch Allen screw at the end of the rod. Remove the screw with the Allen key.

4. Pull off the plastic cap on the end of the rod. Look at the end of the rod and you'll see a small Phillips-head screw. Tighten the screw a half turn. If the stock is still wobbly, tighten the screw further until the stock is tightened to your satisfaction.

Read A Scuba Tank

Familiarization with equipment and establishing a regular maintenance routine are habits that ensure a diver's safety. The scuba or air tank is no exception, and each scuba tank should be visually inspected every two years and complete hydrostatic testing every five to ensure the interior and exterior of the tank are sound enough to support pressurized air. The crown markings are imprinted information that enable manufacturers to track each unit in case of problems. When buying a used scuba tank, these crown markings provide information on the quality and care of the tank.

Instructions

1. Place the scuba tank on the table and orient it so that the tank valve is pointing to you. Place ankle weights on each side of the scuba tank to secure its position.

2. Identify three rows of imprinted letters at the top (crown) of the tank, near the tank valve. Write down each row of letters and numbers.

3. Translate the first row of information using the legend below and reading each line from left to right:

Transport mark: "TC" or "CTC" means "Transport Canada"

Tank material: "3AL" means the tank is aluminum

Working pressure in bar (e.g., M207)

Tare weight in kilograms (e.g., T11.3KG)

4. Translate the markings in the middle row:

"DOT" specifies US Department of Transportation

Tank material code (e.g., "3AL" is the code in the US)

Working pressure in PSI (e.g., 3000)

Tank model (e.g., S80)

Manufacturer name or code (e.g., LUXFER or M4002)

Tank serial number assigned (e.g., U123456)

5. Translate the markings on the bottom line:

Month and year of hydrostatic test, each expressed in two digits and separated by an inspection code (e.g., 01A00 for January 2000 independently inspected)

Carbon dioxide capacity (e.g., 20#CO2)

Tare weight in pounds (TW24.9)

6. Check whether additional markings are included such as:

Overfill is indicated with a "+" sign which enables some steel tanks to be filled 10% greater than the pressure indicated on the tank (see Step 3 or Step 4)

Test pressure in PSI (e.g., TP4500 which is greater than the working pressure)

Homemade Paintball Gun Mods

Homemade Paintball Gun Mods

Bolt action paintball guns frequently jam during use because the paintball gets stuck inside of the firing chamber. This makes you unable to play in a paintball game until you have removed the paintball and reloaded a new one into the firing chamber. You can modify, or mod," the tension of the spring being used in a bolt action paintball gun so that paintballs will no longer get stuck. You will need to partially disassemble the paintball gun, but it will not be damaged in any way by the modification.

Instructions

1. Remove the magazine clip from the bottom of the paintball gun’s handle. Slide the top of the paintball gun toward you to check that there is no ammo in the firing chamber. Release the top of the paintball gun.

2. Place the paintball gun right side up on a table with the barrel pointing to the right.

3. Remove the screws from the top edge by the tip of the barrel, the middle top edge and the top back edge by the hammer with the Phillips screwdriver.

4. Remove the screw from in front of the hammer with the screwdriver.

5. Remove the screws from around the trigger guard with the screwdriver.

6. Remove the screws from beneath the tip of the barrel with the screwdriver. Remove the screw to the right of the trigger guard with the screwdriver.

7. Remove the screws from the handle grip with the screwdriver. Pull off the cover plate from the paintball gun. Place the cover plate aside.

8. Twist the spring plate that is at the rear of the paintball gun below the hammer to the right. Pull the spring plate rod out of the rear of the paintball gun with your fingers.

9. Remove the spring from the spring plate rod with your fingers.

10. Measure four inches from one end of the spring. Cut the spring at the four inch mark with the metal shears. Dispose of the cut piece of spring.

11. Place the spring that was just cut back onto the spring plate rod. Place the spring purchased at a hardware store or hobby shop over the length of the spring that is on the spring plate rod.

12. Insert the spring plate rod back into the back of the paintball gun. Twist the spring plate rod to the left.

13. Place the cover plate back on the paintball gun. Reattach the screws. Insert the magazine clip into the bottom of the handle.

Build Woodsball Bunkers

Woodsball is the variant of paintball that uses natural settings and immobile terrain to approximate real warfare. It is different from other versions, such as speedball, because of the emphasis on natural environments instead of constructions and movable terrain. Woodsball bunkers are constructed to protect a team as it moves throughout the play area. Natural obstacles and concealment should take precedence over player-constructed forts and foxholes. Building a bunker will require a bit of forethought and an eye for tactical placement, but it can be great fun for the woodsball enthusiast.

Instructions

1. Construct two starting areas on either side of the field. Designate these with police tape or another clearly visible material. These will be the encampments that both teams will launch from as well as a safe zone to protect players who must have a timeout to adjust gear or goggle problems.

2. Line the exit from the starting area with a conical shield of barrels. Road construction barrel indicators can be purchased from many supply stores at a minimal cost. These will protect members as they emerge onto the field without affecting line of sight.

3. Place hurdles or short wooden fences in the middle of the field. Anything that requires players to jump over, climb under or otherwise navigate while partially exposed will add depth to your game.

4. Scatter leaves or pine needles to create natural hiding places and areas that camouflaged or Ghillie Suited woodsballers can use to surprise opponents.

5. Use leftover barrels or hurdles to obstruct otherwise clear channels that players run through. This will provide cover and further tactical options for a strong woodsball team.

Fill Scuba Tanks With An Air Compressor

Scuba diving is one of the few sports that has a built-in limit: You can dive only as long as you have air in your tanks. But compressed air is a critical life-support supply, so although you cannot safely use the air compressor in your garage to refill your tanks, there are several options that divers have for keeping their cylinders full and their dives frequent.

Tank Pressure

Scuba tanks come in different sizes and materials, including aluminum and steel. Tanks rated for recreational use typically are compressed so that between 2,000 and 2,500 pounds per square inch of air is contained within them. Any compressor rated to fill a diving cylinder must meet this pressure requirement and must also be able to fill the tank with pure, dry air. Any impurities in the air will be concentrated under the pressure of depth and could lead to injury or death for a diver breathing contaminated air.

Commercial Refilling

The safest bet for refilling a diving cylinder is to take it to a certified dive shop. Most dive shops have special equipment that will fill tanks with purified air, and their equipment can compensate for pressure problems related to the heat expansion of the tank as it undergoes rapid pressurization. Make sure your dive shop insists on refilling tanks only for certified divers, and check their inspection records to make sure they follow safe protocol.

Personal Refilling

For divers who can afford the expense, there are personal refilling stations available for purchase from scuba-supply companies; they can cost more than $1,000. These stations provide for purified air under appropriate pressures, and should be regularly inspected annually by a certified technician.

Put Packing Tape In A Tape Gun

Tape guns make taping jobs go much quicker and more efficient. They allow tension to be put on the tape, keep the loose end from sticking to the roll and have a serrated edge that makes an easy, clean cut to the tape. Although they are great as they are in all these aspects, it is not obvious load them with tape.

Instructions

1. Set the tape gun on a flat surface with the tape wheel facing up.

2. Press a new roll of tape onto the tape wheel, with the loose end of the tape facing the front of the gun and the sticky side facing down towards the handle.

3. Open the spring loaded flip at the front of the gun with one hand, grab the loose end of the tape and pull it through the opening between the flip and the roller. Pull about 6 to 8 inches of tape through.

4. Allow the flip to close. Pick up the tape gun with one hand, grasp the loose end of the tape with the other and pull it up and over the plastic shield and towards you. This will cause the serrated cutting edge to come out and cut off the tab on the loose end of the tape.

Make An Electronic Airsoft Gun More Powerful

Make an Electronic Airsoft Gun More Powerful

Electric airsoft guns rely on a spring to fire the projectile, just as those airsoft guns that must be manually reloaded after each shot do. Make the electric airsoft gun more powerful by stretching out the spring in the firing mechanism. The procedure can be done in less than 10 minutes and will not harm the electric airsoft gun. Once you have reassembled the gun, its projectiles will go farther and strike with greater force than they did before.

Instructions

1. Hold the electric airsoft gun in your left hand. Push down on the magazine catch on the right side of the electric airsoft gun that is on the side of the handle with the thumb of your left hand.

2. Pull out the magazine holding the projectiles from out of the handle of the electric airsoft gun with your right hand. Release the magazine catch. Put the magazine aside.

3. Place the barrel of the electric airsoft gun into a trash can. Pull the trigger to fire off a BB that might still be in the firing mechanism.

4. Lay a towel down on a table. Put the electric airsoft gun down on its side with the barrel facing to the right.

5. Remove the screws from on the handle and at the back edge by the hammer with the Phillips screwdriver.

6. Remove the screws from the top edge by the barrel and at the bottom, using the Phillips screwdriver.

7. Turn the electric airsoft gun over and remove the screws from the side in a similar manner as was done for the other side.

8. Insert the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver into the seam between the sliding panel and the body of the electric airsoft gun on the top just in front of the hammer at the back edge.

9. Wiggle the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver to loosen the sliding panel. Remove the sliding panel with your fingers.

10. Pull the sliding panel off the top of the electric airsoft gun and put it down on the towel.

11. Lift out the firing mechanism from the top compartment now revealed by removing the sliding panel. Put the firing mechanism down on the towel.

12. Remove the spring from off the firing mechanism, using the needle-nosed pliers.

13. Hold the end of the spring in one hand and clamp the needle-nosed pliers on the other end of the spring.

14. Pull the spring to stretch it out. Return the spring onto the firing mechanism.

15. Reverse the disassembly process to put the electric airsoft gun back together.

A Laser Sight To A Colt Cobra

Few guns have a history as long and storied as the Colt Cobra. A lighter, aluminum-alloy version of the famed Colt Detective Special, the Cobra is prized for its ease of concealment and speed of withdrawal. Many customizations can be performed on the Colt Cobra, and one of the most popular is the addition of a laser sight. With the proper tools and technique, you can install a laser sight on a Colt Cobra in a few steps.

Instructions

1. Empty the Colt Cobra of all ammunition before installing the laser sight. The Colt Cobra holds six bullets. Make sure each chamber is empty.

2. Unscrew the stock bolt from the center of the Cobra's grip with a standard screwdriver. The stock bolt and stock nut from the opposite side will come loose. Set them aside for later use.

3. Install the batteries required by the laser sight. Most "D" frame laser-sight grip kits require small "watch" batteries, and many kits come with these batteries included. Refer to the kit instructions for the correct type of battery.

4. Wrap the laser sight grip around the stock of the Cobra, placing the dust shield between the stock and the inside of the laser sight grip.

5. Place the stock nut from the original grip in the stock-bolt hole in the laser sight grip.

6. Pass the stock bolt through the stock-bolt hole in the laser sight and screw it securely in place with a standard screwdriver.

Plant Cannons

The canna is the official flower for the month of May.

Cannons, also known as Cannas, are sometimes referred to as lilies-of-the-valley. They produce orange, red, yellow, peach and pink flowers in early summer. Cannas come as bulbs and bloom every year with minimal care needed in between. These flowers must be planted after the last frost or else the bulbs will be damaged and will not grow. Cannas need plenty of space and will grow in every United States climate. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Dig a 2-inch deep hole in the soil at one end of your garden. The hole needs to be large enough in diameter to fit the bulb comfortably.

2. Place the bulb into the hole so that the green "eye" shoot is facing upwards.

3. Cover the bulb loosely with soil. Do not pack it in tightly, as this will prevent the bulb from growing properly.

4. Move approximately 12 to 14 inches down to your right or left and repeat steps 1 through 3 for the next bulb. Repeat until all are planted.

5. Water your freshly planted bulbs until the soil is moist, but not soaked.

Replace Airsoft Barrels

Airsoft is an extreme sport that uses plastic pellets fired from airsoft pistols and rifles at targets or enemy competitors. Airsoft teams rely on each other and their gear to carry them through simulated military battles and longer events called airsoft wars. The barrel is an important piece of the airsoft gun that controls the direction of the pellet as it leaves the chamber. Damaged or warped barrels must be replaced to prevent injury to the user or others.

Instructions

1. Set the safety on your airsoft weapon. Guns should never be maintained unless the safety is on.

2. Hold the gun so that the end is pointed toward the wall. Make sure it is aimed away from bystanders or fragile objects such as glass or ceramics.

3. Grasp the barrel with your hand and gently unscrew it in a counter clockwise direction. Take care to ensure that you do not overstress the threads.

4. Remove the existing barrel from the gun. Don't forget to keep the barrel cover if your new barrel does not have its own.

5. Line up the new barrel and screw it onto the weapon. If you begin to feel resistance, stop and start over. It is very easy to double-thread a gun barrel, ruining the airsoft weapon.

6. Tighten the barrel to complete the operation. Once the barrel can no longer be hand-tightened it is finished. Do not attempt to mechanically tighten the barrel further as this may ruin the threads.

Use Compressed Nitrogen In Paintball Guns

Though pump-action paintball guns are useful, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and compressed air powered semi-automatic guns are the most popular.

Semi-automatic paintball guns are powered by one of three types of gas: compressed air, nitrogen or carbon dioxide. Nitrogen has the advantage of reducing the moisture present in the firing system drastically, as pure nitrogen atmosphere contains no water. This will reduce the overall wear and tear on the gun. Compressed nitrogen cartridges are usually loaded into the gun above the pistol grip but below the paintball hopper. Most ranges that use nitrogen will be able to top off nitrogen canisters for players.

Instructions

1. Check the old canister on the paintball gun. If the canister is not empty, do not remove it.

2. Remove the paintball hopper and check that there are no paintballs in the chamber. Fire the paintball gun to discharge any paintballs still in the chamber and to empty the old gas canister. Remove the gas canister by turning the canister counter-clockwise.

3. Replace the old canister with the new compressed nitrogen canister by turning the canister clockwise. Tighten the canister until it is secure, but be careful not to over tighten, as this may damage the canister threads or the gun threads.

4. Attach the paintball hopper. Fire a few paintballs to test if the compressed air is powering the bolt correctly. Most canisters are good for several hundred shots but will have to be either replaced or replenished frequently.

Start A Gun Shop Business

Opening a gun shop business is difficult.

Opening a gun shop is much more challenging than opening any other business. Government regulations overseeing the sale and distribution of guns complicates this small businesses operation, whether it's obtaining a license to sell guns, ordering guns from distributors, or selling guns to consumers.

Instructions

1. Obtain a Federal Firearm's License from the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Your application will have to prove that you are over 21 years of age, are not already prohibited from handling or owning firearms, have not already violated the Gun Control Act, and have not lied on any part of your application. You will also have to outline exactly what you plan to sell in your store, including whether you will offer ammunition and/or gun repair. Your FFL will be good for three years before needing renewal.

2. Choose a location. You will have to check with your city or county's zoning codes to make sure it is acceptable to open a gun shop at your location. You can find out about zoning restrictions from your city's office of urban development.

3. Contact various gun manufacturers regarding wholesale purchases. You will want to have a wide variety of guns, and it may take time to get your purchases approved. If you meet with a guns dealer representing a manufacturer, be sure to ask questions about the guns and be well-informed about the stock you are purchasing. Customers will be hesitant to spend large sums of money on guns you are not familiar with.

4. Purchase a security system for your store. Some states require gun shops to install security systems to prevent the illegal possession of arms. It is a smart business move and a service to your community to keep your guns under tight security and surveillance.

5. Market your new gun shop to local gun and hunting clubs, shooting ranges, and firearm instructors. Drive traffic in your store by offering quick, free seminars on aspects of owning and using a gun, such as gun cleaning and gun safety.

Scenarios For Paintball Games

Scenarios for Paintball Games

Paintball is a sport that involves a paintball gun loaded with thin plastic coated balls filled with different colored paint. In recent years, hundreds of people gather together to role play and create paintball scenarios or reenactments in which they compete for prizes and awards. There are several different scenarios available for paintball games that are ideal for various skills levels.

Significance

Many people choose to utilize their paintball skills in a social setting involving strategy and goal setting that revolves around hitting targets and completing missions. Setting up a scenario for a paintball game or competition involves a sense of reenactment which generates suspense and drama within the game. Many scenario games include using camouflage, paint or smoke bombs, telecommunications gear such as two-way radios, night vision equipment and GPS systems.

Function

Paintball scenarios are used for multiple players that play alone or as a team with a specific goal or strategy in mind. Twice a year one of the largest paintball scenario clubs meets at the Oklahoma D-Day Paintball Competition. Thousands of paintball gamers around the world replicate scenarios in the competition to compete against each other using their paintball guns. For many, the sense of reenacting video games, war scenes, movies or books gives them a chance to physically live out their virtual reality fantasies.

Types

Some of the most popular paintball game scenarios are search and rescue missions, fortress capturing, terrorist team, body guard, predator, bunker hill, military missions or training, village takeovers, covert operations, special agents and scavenger hunts. Team members are given certain roles, such as guards, healers, militants and captains. Barrels, buildings, tree forts and blinds are props that are commonly used in paintball scenarios. For special agent scenarios, there will likely be one agent and several villains hunting the appointed special agent. Designated items like flags, may need to be retrieved before the game is won. Reenacting historic battles involves the players making their way through fields and wooded areas before reaching a battlefield and striking out opponents for the victory of a team title.

Time Frame

Most large paintball scenario competitions last more than four hours but some can last up to two days depending on how fast players are cast out of competitions and scenarios. Planning for a large group scenario can take weeks and months to plan and coordinate. Typically, most are planned online where a story line is shared with prospective players--if they later decide to sign up they are assigned a character at a particular post and taught complete their mission. Making sure there are enough players who will participate in a scenario is essential in guaranteeing the game will be successful.

Warning

Paintball guns can be considered a dangerous weapon and can cause life threatening damage if proper safety equipment is not worn and directions are not followed carefully. Protective chest and head gear are essential in preventing injury. Most paintball guns are air pressured and can travel at high speeds and leave large welts and bruises on the skin. Many scenario games require the players to hit certain targets on the body such as the back of the head or chest. If this is the case, making sure that every player is protected will provide peace of mind for all involved in the game.

Start A Paintball Manufacturing Company

Paintballs are manufactured using complex machines.

The game of paintball has become increasingly popular. This has caused many entrepreneurs to consider entering the paintball business, either by making paintballs or by selling paintball-related merchandise. The main ingredient of the sport, the paintball, is manufactured using complex machines, so starting your own paintball manufacturing company will require planning.

Instructions

Start a Paintball Manufacturing Company

1. Research the industry. Producing paintballs can require a significant initial investment. This is because most paintballs are mass produced using complex machines. While these machines save in labor costs over the long run, they can be very expensive to purchase. You will also need to consider the material required to make paintballs, insurance, physical property or a manufacturing facility, licensing and employees.

2. Write a business plan for your paintball manufacturing company. This will serve as a blueprint. Your business plan should include details about the business operations, sales and marketing, products and services, competitive analysis or SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats), management team, financial plan, and projections. When creating your business plan, pay special attention to start-up costs.

3. Obtain financing. Unless you have the necessary business start-up capital, you will need to borrow money. Banking institution will likely ask to see your business plan, so have it ready for inspection. A down payment or security deposit may be required.

4. Implement your business plan. With the necessary start-up capital, you can execute your business plan. Acquiring the manufacturing facility, hiring technical expertise and obtaining insurance, licensing and other requirements, will put you well on your way to manufacturing your own paintballs.

Illinois Gun License Requirements

Illinois has several gun license requirements.

A gun in the home, in the car or on your person can increase the feeling of personal security, provide a deterrent for criminals and even prevent harm from affecting a loved one. Still, in the wrong hands, guns can kill the innocent just as readily as the guilty. Because of this, states such as Illinois have introduced laws to ensure that licensed gun carriers are of good moral character.

Possession

While the U.S. Constitution protects the individual’s right to bear arms, and the state of Illinois Bill of Rights states that the right to bear arms can only be infringed through police power, Illinois still has a number of regulations concerning possession of firearms. In the state of Illinois, a Firearms Owner’s Identification Card, or FOID, is required even to purchase a firearm or ammunition. Citizens of Illinois over 21 years of age (or over 18 with parental consent) can apply for the FOID card by mail. Approval for a FOID card requires that the individual has never been convicted of a felony, has never been a narcotic addict, is not mentally retarded and has not been a patient of a mental hospital.

Cooling Off Period

As with many states, Illinois has a mandatory 72-hour wait period between the time a person purchases a handgun and the time he can take the gun home from a licensed dealer. This period, called a cooling off period, allows the gun dealer to call the state police for a background check of the potential gun owner. Purchasing a rifle or hunting gun in Illinois carries a smaller wait time of 24 hours. Private sellers need not run a background check on a potential buyer and no wait time is legally mandated, but the seller must verify the purchaser’s FOID and keep a record of the ID number.

Illegal

A person may legally buy handguns and hunting rifles from either a licensed dealer or a private broker. Even so, many guns are illegal to possess in Illinois, including any rifle with a barrel length of 16 inches or a shotgun with a barrel of less than 18 inches (e.g. sawed-off shotgun). The law also prohibits possession of machine guns or any guns "from which more than one shot may be discharged by a single function of the trigger, including the frame or receiver of any such weapon."

Laser Tag Birthday Party Ideas

A laser tag party is engaging for kids of all ages.

Laser tag is enjoyable for both children and adults, which makes it an excellent birthday party option. Laser tag birthday parties are even a suitable option for teenagers. A laser tag party theme offers plenty of creative and interesting ideas for refreshments, favors and invitations. You may even find that you enjoy a laser tag party as much as your kids. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations

Take a digital photograph of your child in dark clothing holding a laser gun. Use editing software on your computer to add a laser-looking backdrop to the photograph. Print party information on the back of the photo for an invitation. You can also use your computer to create VIP passes guests hang around their necks with party information printed on the back and use those as invitations. Finally, use your computer to create laser tag brochures featuring the facility, your child with laser guns and pictures of space aliens or villains and mail those as party invitations. Remember, in the printed information, remind your guests to wear dark clothing.

Decorations

Use red, yellow and neon colors (neon oranges, greens, pinks, blues and purples) as your color scheme. Hang a banner reading, "Happy Birthday, (your child's name here)!" Hang balloons and streamers matching your color scheme everywhere that you can. Cover tables with table cloths matching your color scheme and scatter them with glitter and star-shaped confetti in the colors you have chosen to use. Attach a bouquet of balloons to a toy laser gun as a center piece for each table.

Cake and Food

Bake a cake in a heart-shaped cake pan, rounding off the top edges to make the shape of an alien's head. Frost the cake green and use piped-on frosting and candies to make an aliens face cake. Or, bake a sheet cake and cut off round sections on the top to make it in the shape of a laser tag vest. Frost the cake black or gray with piped on details (buttons, hooks and so forth) in silver or red. Serve traditional birthday party foods such as pizza or hot dogs, and make a punch of green sherbet with pineapple juice and lemon-lime soda (alien punch) for a beverage.

Favors

Fill neon colored bags with party favors. Examples of favors to include are glow sticks, glow necklaces or bracelets, pens, flashlights, stickers, stick-on tattoos and plastic alien toys. Anything glow in the dark makes a good laser tag birthday party favor. Also, check with the facility that hosts your party, as they often provide favor bags for birthday party guests.
