Remove Antifouling Paint

The removal of antifouling paint can be a painstaking process.

Antifouling paint is also known as bottom paint, and is a necessary tool to keep the buildup of living organisms on a boat's hull beneath the water line. However, antifouling paint loses its effectiveness when there are several coats applied over the course of a few years and therefore it should be removed. There are three ways that you can remove antifouling paint: scraping it off by hand, through the use of paint-removing solvents or by sandblasting.

Instructions

Removing Antifouling Paint by Hand

1. Have your boat removed from the water and set on boat stands by trained personnel at your boat yard. If there is any grime or barnacles on the hull, use a pressure washer to remove anything that has built up since the last antifouling painting. Allow the bottom to dry for at least six hours.

2. Strip the old paint using the hand scraper. Place a tarp underneath the boat to catch any paint scrapings. You will need to use a stepladder to get close to the bottom of the hull. Remove as much bottom paint as possible using the scraper. You may need to use a chisel for any paint that is difficult to remove.

3. Sand the remaining antifouling paint. Any bottom paint that could not be removed by scraping may have absorbed into the boat's hull. Using an orbit sander with 80-grit sandpaper, sand the remaining spots. Be sure to wear goggles, ear protection and a respirator mask to protect against debris, noise and any toxic dust. Make sure there is a shop vacuum handy to remove dust from sanding the hull.

Using a Paint-Removing Solvent to Remove Antifouling Paint

4. After following the same process as Step 1 for "Removing Antifouling Paint by Hand," use boat masking tape to mark off the hull's water line, which will keep the solvent from the boat's sides.

5. Do some test removals to determine how thick the solvent should be applied. Pick a spot on the hull about six inches wide and six inches deep. Using a paintbrush, apply a small amount of solvent, then attach a small piece of the paint removal blanket cut to the same size. Press firmly and slowly from top to bottom, making sure there are no bubbles or gaps. After a few minutes, remove the blanket. If the antifouling paint removes completely, then you have achieved the right amount of thickness and removal time. If not, continue to test until you get the right combination.

6. Fill an airless paint-spraying gun with the paint-removal solvent to ensure full and even coverage. If you don't have access to a paint sprayer, you can apply the solvent with a paintbrush or roller. Be sure to wear goggles and a respirator mask. Place a tarp beneath the boat to catch any drippings. Spray all parts of the hull that has bottom paint to be removed.

7. After applying the paint-removal solvent, adhere a paint-removal blanket to the hull. Again, making sure no air bubbles occur. After the predetermined time (see Step 2), remove the blanket.

8. Complete Step 4 all the way around the hull. When finished, any remaining residue can be removed using a pressure washer.

Sandblasting Antifouling Paint Away

9. After following the same process as Step 1 for "Removing Antifouling Paint by Hand," place a tarp underneath the boat to catch any debris sandblasting creates..

10. Close all of the valves on your sandblaster, then fill it with silica sand.

11. Pressurize the sandblaster for use. Once it is fully charged, begin removing the old antifouling paint. Spray the sand at an angle to do as little physical damage to the boat's hull as possible, especially if it is made of fiberglass. Spray the sand using large, sweeping motions.

12. Once you have completed sandblasting, spray the hull with a pressure washer to remove any remaining residue. Use a shop vacuum to remove any dirt or sand from beneath the boat.

Spray Gun Work

What Is a Spray Gun?

A spray gun, or water pistol, is a hand-held, plastic backyard toy that kids use in water battles and water games. There are also spray guns used for home improvement, for applying caulking and distributing paint. The same pumping spray gun device is used for everyday household sprays and cleaners. A spray gun always contain a trigger, a reservoir and a liquid, and it requires pumping action for results.

Anatomy of a Spray Gun

A spray gun works in the same way an oil rig pumps oil and your heart pumps blood--with a pulsing buildup of pressure and an ejection of the stored liquid through the nozzle. A child's spray gun has a small plastic stopper on the top end of the gun barrel that is removed for filling the gun with water and then replaced when full. The trigger is attached to a piston and spring in the handle's pump. When the trigger is squeezed, the piston squishes back into the shrinking cylinder area, forcing out any water that is in the cylinder to spray out the nozzle. When the trigger is released, the piston stretches back out, drawing water up from the reservoir below through a small plastic tube with a one-way valve at the top. The water collects in the cylinder, ready for another spray.

One-Way Valve

The one-way valve is what makes a sprayer shoot the water forward out of the nozzle and not back down into the reservoir when the trigger is squeezed. At the top of the plastic collection tube is a small plastic ball that lies against a seal at a slight angle. When the trigger is squeezed, the water pressure holds the ball against the seal, blocking off the chance for the water to escape back down the tube. The water can only move forward, out the open nozzle hole. When the trigger is released, the expanding cylinder inside the gun creates a vacuum, forcing fresh water to be sucked up through the tube, which also sucks the ball up, allowing the water to flood the barrel. When the trigger is pushed again, the ball is forced back down against the seal, and the newly trapped water is ejected forward, out the nozzle.

Make A Paintball Mine

Make a paintball version of this.

Paintball games that take place in the woods and fields, sometimes called "woodball," are military simulations that often use more gear than just paintball guns. One fun way to get the edge on your opponents is to ambush them or deny them territory with paint mines. However, manufactured paint mines can be too expensive to use in quantity, so a good solution is to "go guerrilla" and make your own mines. This design isn't flashy, but it is cheap, easy to make, and will drench feet in paint.

Instructions

1. Cut a three pieces of cardboard that neatly fit into a pan-shaped container. Glue them together, stacked.

2. Glue a powerlet CO2 cartridge to the bottom of the container. These cartridges are meant for paintball pistols, and have compressed, liquid gas for roughly 40 shots. It will power the mine.

3. Push a small nail through the first two layers of cardboard in the three-ply piece you glued together in Step 2.

4. Put the cardboard piece into the container so that the nail is positioned over the powerlet. The cardboard piece and nail serve as the trigger. The cardboard also separates the powerlet from the paint.

5. Cut three or four vents into the container's original lid. Place the lid of the container gently atop the nail.

6. Store the mine until you are ready to use it. Before deployment, fill the upper chamber with paint. When the mine is stepped on, the powerlet will release all its stored gas at once, blasting through the cardboard and blowing paint out of the vents cut in the top of the container.

Disassemble The Jennings J22 Lr

Disassemble the Jennings J-22 LR

The Jennings J-22 is a small, blow-back action auto-loading pistol chambered for the .22 LR cartridge. The breech action is similar to that of the German Walther PP in that the recoil spring encircles the barrel, but the fire control assembly is much simplified when compared to the Walther. The J-22 is easy to disassemble for cleaning, requiring virtually no tools to do so. A ballpoint pen or even a small stick will suffice for takedown.

Instructions

1. Remove the magazine from the pistol, then retract the slide to make sure it is unloaded.

2. Pull the trigger to drop the firing pin. Always point the gun in a safe direction when you do this, even though the gun is unloaded.

3. Depress the takedown button, located at the rear of the slide. Use a ballpoint pen, small stick or similar object.

4. Lift the rear of the slide away from the frame until it stops, while holding the takedown button in. Gently release the takedown button. Be careful, because it is under spring tension.

5. Push the slide forward until it clears the barrel, then set it aside. Be careful that the recoil spring doesn't escape.

6. Remove the recoil spring by slipping it off the front of the barrel. You have disassembled the pistol as far as is recommended by the factory.

Spray Paint Splatter Tricks

Splatter effects should make a shape out of a burst of paint.

Spray paint can be used for a variety of effects, which are created by the angle and distance of the spray nozzle from the surface being painted on. You get a splatter effect when the spray can is held close to the surface and you press down on the nozzle, making a burst of paint shoot out. Mastering the splatter technique is part of what defines graffiti graphic style.

Trick No. 1: Drippy Spot

Hold the can inches from the desired canvas, with the spray nozzle facing directly toward the surface you wish to paint. The angle of the nozzle to the surface will determine the shape, density and consistency of the sprayed paint. This "trick" enables the artist to create a highly concentrated spot of spray paint, where the drips are part of the effect of having the spray can close to the painted surface.

Spraying the Drippy Spot

Drippy spots appear like regular paint from a distance.

Hold down the nozzle while the can is in this position. As it begins to spray a thick dot on the surface, discontinue spraying. Be careful not to spray for so long that the paint will run completely down the surface. Instead, it is ideal that the drips are minimal, so they appear as part of the spot. The resulting effect should be a drippy spot on the surface.

Trick No. 2: Creating Sprayed Texture

Hold the can a foot from the desired surface. Push a series of short bursts of the spray can in different areas of the surface. This should create a sprayed texture of whatever color paint being used, where it appears as if a spray can was used to add a minimal burst of color.

Trick No. 3: Using Cardboard

Cardboard helps to create defined shading texture.

Holding a piece of cardboard in front of the spray nozzle creates different splatter effects, which can be used to create more shading or texture on the painting surface. The cardboard ensures the spray doesn't go everywhere and is directed to a specific area on the painted surface.

Laws For Shipping A Paintball Gun In Tennessee

There are numerous laws regarding paintball guns in Tennessee.

Paintball is a popular sport that uses guns that fire hollow projectiles filled with paint markers to simulate war games. However the line between a paintball gun and a legal firearm isn't always clear in some states. In Tennessee, for instance, there are specific laws for how paintball guns can be mailed.

Johnson City

In Johnson City, Tennessee there is an almost total shutdown on shipping pantball and related air guns. Any guns that operate off compressed gas or air--which includes both paintball guns as well as airsoft guns and air rifles--cannot be shipped. This means that if you live in Johnson City you'll need to have your paintball gun shipped to a place outside of the city, or you'll need to go and buy it yourself. This law also applies to slingshots, which also cannot be shipped to this city.

Compressed Air

Paintball guns fire with compressed gases, typically carbon dioxide. These gases cannot be shipped overnight in an airplane due to the effect that the changes in altitude and compression may have on the gun's containment area, which could lead to a rupture or potential explosion. These canisters can be shipped separately or with the paintball gun as long as they're shipped via ground transportation, and to a place in Tennessee where it's legal to ship paintball guns.

Firearm Law

Some states file paintball guns--as well as airsoft guns and other replica items--under firearms law, which means that you can't send them through the mail in those states. Tennessee is not one of these states, and paintball guns do not fall under any sort of firearm restrictions. However, parts of paintball guns, such as ammunition and the CO2 canisters, may qualify as hazardous materials. These can be shipped, but only if you pay a hazardous material fee and inform the carrier of what's inside.

Drain Gasoline From A Gas Tank

Draining gasoline from vehicles poses a difficult process for many, and a few different techniques are available for doing so. Due to rampant theft of fuel from vehicles via siphoning, most modern automobile manufacturers have begun installing anti-siphon grids, where the fuel fill neck connects to the fuel tank itself which prohibits insertion of a siphon hose down through the fill neck and into the tank. Car owners must try at least a couple of different methods in an attempt to get fuel drained from the tank.

Instructions

1. Consult your automobile owner's manual and, using the Table of Contents, locate information about features related to your fuel system. Using the manual, determine whether or not your vehicle has an anti-siphon mechanism in the fuel fill neck. If the anti-siphon feature exists, check the manual to see if there is a through-the-trunk access compartment under the carpet of your trunk, or any other access to the top of your fuel tank. If your vehicle is an older model, you may be able to siphon the fuel from the fuel tank using a standard siphoning system as mentioned above. Otherwise, please refer to the steps below.

2. Remove the fuel fill cap from your vehicle's fuel fill neck and insert a siphon hose, feeding it down the fill neck until six feet of hose has been inserted. Place a federally approved fuel container on the ground under the fuel fill compartment and insert the other end of your siphon hose into the fuel container. Pump the hand-operated siphon valve, or activate the pump if electrically powered, and fill the container until completely full. Screw the lid on tight and store in a cool location until needed. Use as many fuel containers as necessary until the vehicle's fuel tank has been completely emptied.

3. Disconnect both battery cables from your vehicle's battery using a properly sized socket wrench and socket. Once loosened, lift them off of the battery posts and lay them off to the side of the battery to prevent them from coming into contact with the battery posts.

4. Open your trunk and clear out any items which may be sitting on the floor. Lift up the carpet and scan the metal surface of the trunk floor for a round or a square access door. If your vehicle is so equipped, this door will provide access to the top of your fuel tank. Lift open the access hatch door to expose the top of the fuel tank.

5. Analyze the circular fuel pump assembly mount on the top of the fuel tank. There should be a fuel supply line, a fuel return line and a vacuum pitot valve all connected to the round cover. Disconnect all lines and electric wiring connectors from the sockets and then remove any screws which may secure the circular mount to the fuel tank.

6. Locate the slip grooves on the circular mount, as most of these are designed to have the inside steel plate rotated until the tabs are lined up with rectangular notches, which will facilitate the lifting of the center steel plate and the fuel pump assembly out of the tank. Lift gently and avoid jarring the fuel pump against the sides of the opening when removing. Lay the entire assembly on the metal floor next to the opening.

7. Place a federally approved five-gallon fuel container on the ground beside the vehicle and insert the long end of the siphon tube through the opening of the fuel tank until the end touches the bottom of the tank. Stretch the remaining length over the side of the vehicle so the tip of the other end is inside of the fuel container. Operate the hand pump bulb or turn the electric siphon pump on and fill as many containers as necessary until the fuel tank is completely empty.

8. Place the fuel pump assembly back into the tank, lining the center plate tabs with the rectangular grooves on the plate receptacle cut out. Turn the center plate clockwise to lock it into place in the mount groove and reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors. Wipe up any fuel leakages from the metal flooring and allow to dry before unfolding the trunk carpet back over the floor. Reconnect the battery terminals to the battery posts in completion of the task.

9. Consult with an authorized service center if there are no access hatches to the top of your tank, and the fill neck also contains an anti-siphon device. Such vehicles require complete removal of the fuel tank from under the vehicle so the fuel may be removed. Removal of a fuel tank full of fuel isn't a safe one-person, owner-maintenance task.

Upgrade A Well R7 Airsoft Rifle

Upgrade a Well R7 Airsoft Rifle

The Well R7 is a full stock Airsoft replica of the M4 assault rifle. While the gun comes with a number of add-ons and accessories, you may want to further customize or upgrade your gun. This is fairly easy to do since the gun comes with a number of accessory rails mounted and allows easy access to the internals.

Instructions

1. Open the gearbox using the screwdriver and replace the plastic gears and bushings with the new steel components. Be careful to align the gears in the exact position as the original plastic parts. Otherwise they will jam when the motor tries to turn, and the gun won't shoot correctly, if at all. Then rescrew the cover back onto the gearbox.

2. Open up the spring and piston housing, and remove the old low tension spring. Replace it with the M120 and then close the housing back up.

3. Open up the battery compartment and remove the stock 8.4v battery. Plug in the 9.6v and replace the compartment cover.

4. Pull the breakdown lever and push forward to expose the inner barrel. Gently twist it to the left and pull, removing the inner barrel from the outer. Slide the new barrel inside the outer barrel and then twist to the right, locking it in place. Then, close the gun and lock the breakdown lever back into place.

5. Disconnect the old scope and laser from their RIS rails and mount the new ones using the thumb screws included on the base of the mount to lock them into place. Dial them in once in the field, or the trajectories of the gun and scopes won't match.

Make A Paintball Gun Rack

Finding a convenient place to store your paintball guns can be difficult, but building your own paintball gun rack solves that problem. A paintball gun rack also keeps your guns safely out of the reach of children.

Instructions

1. Lay two of the planks flat on the ground, parallel to each other, with 10 inches between them.

2. Arrange the two other planks across the first two to form a square, but balance these two along their 1/2 inch edges, along the ends of the first two boards, and glue them into place. The broad inside sides of these second boards should be 17 inches apart.

3. Flip the entire rectangle over, and nail through the flat boards into the second boards which are balanced on edge. These second boards will be the vertical supports of the gun rack.

4. Hang the frame on the wall to get a sense of the proportions. The two original planks will run horizontally, a foot apart, and the second board will run vertically, protruding four inches from the flat front surface of the first boards.

5. Use a jigsaw to cut out three rectangles from the left vertical support, at one inch from the top, six inches from the top and 11 inches from the top. Each should measure one inch high by two inches deep. These notches will support the barrels of the guns.

6. Cut out three rectangles from the right-hand vertical support, at one inch from the bottom, six inches from the bottom, and 11 inches from the bottom. These should each measure 3 inches deep by 4 inches high. The notches will support the butt end of the paintball guns. They should be lower than the barrel-notches because the butt is lower on the gun, so uneven supports will actually help the gun lie flat.

7. Carve a slight curvature into the bottom of the butt-notches, or simply cant them slightly toward the wall, so they will support the guns and not allow them to roll out of place on the rack.

What Are Some Ways Police Are Using Infrared Cameras

What Are Some Ways Police Are Using Infrared Cameras?

Infrared cameras were first created during the Korean War. The military has long used these cameras to enable night vision for many reasons. Gradually infrared cameras have begun to be used for other purposes. The police are one group that has found many different uses for infrared cameras.

License Plate Scanners

Police use small infrared cameras that are mounted on their police cars. As police cruise and patrol with their cars, these infrared cameras automatically scan license plates of cars that are nearby. The license plate numbers are received and sent through a database where they can be matched to find stolen vehicles and people who have warrants issued for arrest.

Airplanes and Helicopters

Airplanes and helicopters can be fitted with infrared cameras and used to patrol over homes. If a substantial amount of heat is discovered in a particular home, it may indicate a home that is using numerous grow lights to grow marijuana.

Surveillance

Law enforcement can set up infrared surveillance cameras in areas that are prone to high crime. These cameras can be aimed to capture activity and in the event of a crime being committed it may be possible to identify criminals.

Faulty Brakes

Police vans can be equipped with infrared cameras that are designed to detect faulty brakes in semi-trucks and other heavy trucks. When brakes are used, brakes automatically give off heat. The camera can detect this heat as it focuses on the axle of trucks. If the camera detects the heat, the truck brakes are shown to be in good working order. If the camera does not detect heat, the truck brakes are shown to not be functioning properly. The police van can then alert the truck driver that the brakes may not be functioning, and serious accidents may be avoided.

Night Vision

Law enforcement can use hand-held infrared cameras to track perpetrators and criminals who attempt to flee or hide after dark. The infrared cameras can be aimed in the direction that the perpetrators are thought to have gone and the heat sensors can detect people hiding.

The Best Caulking Guns

Learn choose the right caulking gun for your next job.

A good caulking gun can mean the difference between a job finished well and an unsatisfied feeling at the end of the day. Don't ruin your work by purchasing a gun ill-suited to your need or by trying to cut corners on cost. If you've put $1,000 into a new window or complete bathroom renovation, seal your work with a quality caulking gun that's sure to add to, rather than detract from, the good work you've already done. Does this Spark an idea?

Skeleton Style

Skeleton style caulking guns offer quick release features and are easy to use. Tubes of caulk are easy to load and remove from either side of the gun shaft. Strong handles and levers characterize this type of caulking gun which allow for greater control over the flow of the caulk and width of line emitted. These guns in various brands, often cost, as of 2011, only $3 to $5 more than ratchet style guns and may be worth the investment if you plan to caulk more than once.

Ratchet Style

Ratchet style caulking guns are generally the cheapest and most common type found on the market. If you plan to caulk only once in a great while, this may be the best gun for you, even though your one time of using it may require more time and skill than is demanded from other styles of guns. The best caulking guns in this style are automatic release as opposed to standard release guns as they do not require two hands to stop the flow of caulk and are therefore more convenient and easy to use.

Dripless Style

Dripless style caulking guns cost more than non-dripless guns but the added benefit may be worth it, if it fits your budget. Dripless guns automatically cut off the flow of caulk when you stop spreading it. They are ideal for daily use whether you are a contractor or an individual who just does a lot of renovation work on your own home. With these types of caulking guns simple squeeze the trigger on the handle to make caulk flow and release your grip when all the nooks and crannies are filled.

Worthwhile Features

Two other features make caulk guns of various brands the best -- spout cutters and tube piercing lances. A spout cutter is a blade on the end of the gun near the handle that allows the caulk tube to be cut as it is placed into the gun. A tube piercing lance is a similar feature that punctures the tube when it is placed into the gun. Both eliminate the need to cut the tube spout before placing it into the gun, which can cause spillage and mess.

Use Sniper Spotting Scopes

Proper use of a spotting scope is vital to a successful sniper team.

The spotting scopes used by sniper teams are generally no different than their civilian counterparts; however, having a mil-dot reticle in the spotting scope is ideal for sniping as it allows the spotter to calculate adjustments independent of the shooter. When sniping, the spotter uses the spotting scope to find targets, calculate windage and elevation adjustments based upon wind, range, and movement of the target if the scope comes with a reticle. It also allows the spotter to provide the shooter with follow-up adjustments after a missed shot.

Instructions

1. Position yourself as close to the shooter as possible without disturbing their firing position. This allows for a truer view of bullets in-flight which is critical to giving an accurate adjustment after missed shots.

2. Use your non-dominant eye while spotting. Doing this keeps your shooting eye fresh in case you need to take over the rifle.

3. Scan for targets by searching on a low magnification if the spotting scope has variable power settings. If the scope only provides high magnification then the shooter uses his rifle scope to scan and you use the spotting scope to search out likely target locations.

4. Calculate range using the mil-dot reticle by using the following formula: range to target in meters = (size of target in inches x 25.4) / size of target in mils. To determine the size of the target in mils measure from the center of one mil dot to another, dividing the distance between them into tenths.

5. Use the spotting scope to estimate wind along the length of the bullet's flight. The Beaufort Wind Scale is a standard tool for estimating wind speed in a vegetated area. Reading the heat waves off the ground, also called mirage, is another method for determining wind speed with a spotting scope.

6. Determine the speed of a distant target by estimation or comparison of their rate of movement against a known length.

7. Watch the bullet in-flight with the spotting scope and note the place of impact. The shooter will probably not have been able to see the bullet's place of impact due to weapon recoil. In the event of a missed shot give the shooter an adjustment to get him back on target based upon where you saw the shot land.

8. Care for your spotting scope so that it will provide clarity and precision when it is needed. Use a soft-bristled brush or lens wipes to clean the lenses, taking care not to grind dust particles into the glass. Close lens caps when the scope is not in use and take care not to drop or jostle the scope.

Homemade Paintballs

Paintballs

Paintball is one of the most popular recreational sports in the world. The sport has made its way into the professional ranks with the creation of different organizations and leagues, both domestically and internationally. The production of paintballs is a big business for the sport. Making paintballs does not need any expensive materials or equipment, so producing homemade paintballs is fairly easy and cost-effective.

Making the Outer Shells

To make a hollow shell, you will need a mixture of water, corn-type oils, flour and, most importantly, gelatin, like the substance used to make gummy bears. Paintballs are made of nontoxic materials, including the materials used to make the outer shells and the paint filler. Melting and mixing everything can take up to a half hour. Once the mixture is complete, you must store the shells in a colder temperature to allow the shape to solidify.

Paint

As mentioned, all paint, or the dye, used in paintballs should nontoxic and biodegradable. However, there are some commercially produced paintballs that can contain toxins, so be sure to check the products you buy. Most paintballs use a dye made of polyethylene glycol, the same liquid used for cough syrup. When selecting a paint color to buy, keep in mind where you usually play, whether inside or outside, and the ease to notice paint on an individual's body. Most paintballs used today are of a bright pink, yellow or blue color.

Filling Paintballs

Filling paintballs is easy to do. The most popular method is to use a syringe filled with the select dye of your choice. Take the finished hollow paintball shells and inject the dye into the shell until it is filled. It is common to leave a small amount of air space inside the shell to allow for an easier break upon contact with an object.

Sealing and Storing Paintballs

Once filled, use a sealant such as super glue to close off the small hole made by the syringe. Once you have filled and sealed your homemade paintballs, store them at room temperature. This is important because if stored at a cold temperature, the dye inside the shell can thicken and will rarely allow the outer shell to break upon contact. An illegal method in Paintball known as "freezing" shells can be very dangerous and is highly frowned upon.

Places To Go Paintballing In California

Paintball opportunities are present throughout California.

Paintball's popularity continues to increase, and new fields are being opened with frequency. California fosters many opportunities for participants to enjoy the sport, with hundreds of options located throughout the state. California's paintball fields feature scenarios such as World War I trenches, urban battlefields and wooded hillsides.

Paintball Jungle

To the north of San Francisco, the town of American Canyon boasts the Paintball Jungle, a 65-acre paintball field. The wooded field contains a bunker area, a tower area and other hiding spots. Players at Paintball Jungle can play several different types of games: airball, speedball, capture the flag and elimination. Paintballs and the carbon dioxide necessary to operate the gun are not included in the admission fee.

Field of Fire

So Cal Paintball rates Field of Fire in the San Jose area as the top location for paintballing in the area. It features several fields, including opportunities for speedball and airball games. It has two main fields, the Bottom Field, with tunnels and a submarine installation, and the Top Field, with a full city of abandoned buildings and hillsides with hiding places.

Paintball USA

Located in Santa Clarita, Paintball USA has 11 different fields for paintball play. Many of them are elaborately decorated to resemble real-life locations. There is an Afghanistan field, an Iraqi-themed field and a field that attempts to re-create the trenches of World War I. Other locations include a wooded area and a maze. There is also an observation area for those who would rather just watch. Equipment rentals are separate from admission fees.

Capital Edge

The Capital Edge Paintball Park is located in Sacremento. This park's fields includes one full of mounds, one decorated with large wooden spools and another that creates an urban scenario. That field contains several cars, bunkers and a castle structure. Group rates are offered, as are packages for those with or without their own equipment.

Fix A Jammed Airsoft Gun

A realistic-looking toy rifle, the airsoft gun employs a spring mechanism to fire its projectile, but it ceases to work if the projectile becomes jammed inside of the spring mechanism. You can fix the airsoft gun so that it will fire again using a common rifle-cleaning tool that you can get from a gun shop or hobby supply store. You will also need to partially disassemble the airsoft gun.

Instructions

1. Push down the "hopup" unit switch located in the middle of the airsoft rifle just above the magazine. Pull the magazine out of the airsoft rifle and put it aside.

2. Use your fingers to pull off the magwell cover that is above and slightly forward of the "hopup" switch to reveal the firing mechanism.

3. Insert the tipped end of the cleaning rod into the barrel of the airsoft rifle. Gently push the cleaning rod all the way into the barrel while watching its progress inside of the magwell.

4. Use the end of the cleaning rod to push the jammed projectile up and out of the magwell.

5. Reattach the magwell cover. Reinsert the magazine. Push the "hopup" switch back to its original position. Clock and fire the airsoft rifle now that it is no longer jammed.

Play Double Speed Card Games

The Double Speed card game uses a regular deck of cards.

Double Speed, or Double Flip, is a relatively new two player card game. The players use a standard deck of 52 playing cards. A player attempts to rid his hand of cards before his opponent does the same. Both participants place cards simultaneously, so each has to race his opponent to complete available moves and shorten his card stack. The first player that gets rid of all of the cards in his hand is the winner.

Instructions

Directions

1. Deal the entire deck evenly to both players. Players should hold their cards in a face down stack in their hands.

2. Deal two rows of four cards, one from each player's stack, face up on the table in between the players. Each player should deal four of the cards simultaneously from the top of her deck, keeping the two rows lined up as well as possible.

3. Scan the eight face-up cards for any pairs. As soon as the last two cards are dealt, each player can deal a new card from the top of his hand to the top of any pair of face up cards. If both players spot the same pair on the table, then one player can cover one card while the other player covers the other card, first come first serve. If there are no pairs on the table, then each player picks up the four stacks of cards in front of him, adding them to the bottom of his stack, and play continues. Each player deals two new rows of four cards on the table in front of him.

4. Continue covering pairs and dealing new rows of cards until one player places the last card from her hand on top of a paired card. The player that rids her hand of cards first is declared the winner.

Make An Airsoft Gun From A Nerf Buzzsaw

The Nerf-branded Buzzsaw toy gun is able to fire a series of Nerf foam pellets when the trigger is depressed. You can make an automatic firing airsoft-type rapid fire weapon from the Nerf Buzzsaw by modifying the trigger. You will need to partially disassemble the Nerf Buzzsaw, which will void its warranty. A few hardware tools are needed as is adult supervision if you are underage, since some cutting of the Buzzsaw will need to be done.

Instructions

1. Put a bath towel on a table. Put the Nerf Buzzsaw on its side on the bath towel with the barrel facing to the left.

2. Remove the two screws from the top edge in front of the tube assembly with the Phillips screwdriver.

3. Remove the screw at the bottom edge in front of the rotating barrel assembly with the Phillips screwdriver.

4. Remove the screws from around the handle at the back of the Nerf Buzzsaw with the Phillips screwdriver.

5. Remove the screw at the back end of the handle of the Nerf Buzzsaw with the Phillips screwdriver.

6. Lift the top shell of the Nerf Buzzsaw off the bottom shell. Put the top shell aside for reassembly later.

7. Pull back on the trigger that is in the bottom shell. Mark the top of the trigger where it enters the tube assembly with the black Magic Marker.

8. Remove the screw near the top edge of the trigger with the Phillips screwdriver.

9. Pull the trigger off the bottom shell of the Nerf Buzzsaw with your fingers.

10. Cut off the top of the trigger, using the blade of the utility knife at the mark made with the black magic marker.

11. Sand down the cut end of the trigger with the rough sandpaper.

12. Put the trigger back into its original position. Reattach the screw.

13. Put the top shell back onto the bottom shell of the Nerf Buzzsaw. Reattach the screws.

14. Go into your backyard. Drop a dozen or more plastic pellets into the tube at the top of your airsoft-type automatic gun.

15. Aim your airsoft-type automatic gun at a tree or rock. Depress and hold down on the trigger to fire the plastic pellets one after another automatically at the target.

Outdoor War Games For Youth

Outdoor spaces tranform into playful war games for children with a few simple supplies.

Tap into kids' competitive spirits while developing essential strategizing and athletic skills with high energy outdoor war games. Outdoor war games place teams of children against one another in challenges designed to test their problem solving skills, athletic ability and teamwork. Adapt outdoor games to suit both the skill of the players as well as the available playing area.

Capture the Flag

To host a round of the classic game of capture the flag, you need a significant amount of moderately wooded space. Divide a large group of children into two teams. Give each team a brightly colored flag on a stake. The team must plant their flag in a space that is visible but challenging to reach. The goal of the game is to send players to the other team's area to capture the flag. If an opponent is tagged or captured in enemy territory, they must remain in an area designated as a jail until their either escape or are released by a fellow teammate who tags them. Teams just decide which players serve as guards of the team flag and which players attempt to retrieve the enemy flag. Elaborate games of capture the flag may last several hours. Adding scouts, two-way radios, paintball guns or water pistols adds an element of excite to the game. The first team to retrieve the enemy flag and bring it back to the location of their team flag wins.

Winter Prisoner Escape

Cold weather doesn't necessarily put a stop to outdoor fun. On a snowy day, arrange a game of prisoner escape. One player from a large group is designated as the prisoner; the prisoner has five minutes to wander through the snow, make snow balls and build a hideout in an outdoor space. The prisoner can leave tracks strategically to throw other players off course or build a fortress to protect himself. After five minutes, all other players begin tracking the prisoner in an effort to capture him. Players must decide whether to stick together or split up. If the prisoner hits any advancing player with a snowball, the player is out and must return to the start point without giving up any information to other players. If the prisoner manages to eliminate all other players, he wins. If the other players are able to capture him without being hit with a snowball, the prisoner loses.

Stealing Sticks

Stealing sticks is a game that tests strategy building, problem solving and quick reflex skills, and is ideal for smaller outdoor spaces. Divide into two teams of at least five players each. Lay a long rope down the center of the playing area so that each team has their own space. Use jump ropes to create an equal number of circles on either side of the line; each side should have at least three circles, but you may add more to make the game more challenging. Place four Popsicle sticks inside each circle. The goal of the game is to retrieve the sticks from the other team and return them to the home team's side. However, if a player is tagged over the line he must go to the back side of the enemy team and remain there until a teammate tags him back into the game. If a player makes it across the line and within one of the stick circles without being tagged, she is safe and cannot be tagged until she leaves the circle again. Players must balance guarding their own sticks with retrieving the sticks from the other side. The team who collects the most sticks at the end of 10 minutes wins.

Make A Homemade Airsoft Minigun

There are many types of airsoft guns that can be made. An airsoft minigun has the advantage of being small enough to avoid detection while still providing firepower. You can make a minigun from common household items, and the cost will be almost nonexistent. Your minigun will fire a projectile as good as any store-bought airsoft gun but will be personalized because it was made by hand.

Instructions

1. Place the skinny end of the balloon over one end of the plastic straw. Work the balloon down onto the plastic straw until the end of the straw meets the part of the balloon that inflates.

2. Place the packing tape against the plastic straw where the end of the balloon is. Wrap the packing tape around the plastic straw and end of the balloon to secure the two of them to each other.

3. Roll a small ball from the modeling clay. Drop the small ball into the open end of the plastic straw.

4. Hold the plastic straw in your left hand. Grab the small ball from the inside of the balloon with your other hand (reverse this for lefties).

5. Aim the open end of the plastic straw at a tree in your backyard. Pull back on the small ball to stretch out the balloon. Release the small ball to fire it from the airsoft mini gun you have made.

Paintball Marker Color Regulations

Paintball colors help determine friendly fire vs. enemy fire.

Paintball markers are the guns that fire paintballs. In a paintball battle, players must follow regulations regarding the splashes of color that indicate a player has been hit. While these regulations may change depending on the organization that sets up the paintball game, some general guidelines apply. Know your paintball color regulations so you can present yourself as a valuable player on any team.

Standard Colors

Paintball markers can fire white, blue, red, green or purple paintballs. However, any of these colors may be prohibited if a game referee deems it too difficult to see a particular color. For example, if players wear camouflage, paintball markers firing a green color may not leave a distinctive mark. Players must review the regulations at each paintball game to make sure the colors they intend to fire from the paintball markers are acceptable.

Designated Colors

A team may designate a color for all team members to fire. This helps determine whether a player gets hit by friendly fire. This can be important to teams because they may want to determine if any players are a liability. Players who shoot their own team members can cause the team to lose. A player who is hit by friendly fire must leave the playing field.

Splatter

If a paintball hits a nearby object and splatters onto a player, that player is out. The size of the splatter must be at least as large as a quarter. The referee makes this determination. Color comes into play during a dispute. If the shooter can show that the color fired by his marker belongs to him, he has a strong case for claiming he was firing at the player who got splattered.

Night Colors

Paintball games that occur at night may use glow-in-the-dark paintballs. Paintball markers can fire any color of this type of paintball. The purpose is to make hits visible in the dark so that the referee can tell if a player is out, or conduct a paint check. A paint check is when a player asks a referee to determine if he has been hit in a place he can't see. An opponent may also ask a referee to conduct a paint check on someone he has fired at. Glow-in-the-dark colors make paint checks much easier at night.

Colors and Rules Violations

Referees can resolve rules violations more easily with designated colors. If a player has been hit in a prohibited area, such as the face, a referee can check to see what player shoots the color that is on the face. This kind of safety violation can get a shooter ejected from the game, and the designated colors help determine who is committing the violation.

Be A Stealth Airsoft Bb Gunner

An Airsoft brand weapon is a pellet shooting replica of a weapon first created by the Japanese in the 1980s. To participate in an Airsoft "war game" without becoming a casualty, find ways to remain undiscovered by the enemy. By practicing stealth, you will be able to approach your targets without fear of detection, take them out and be victorious. A bit of preplanning and preparation is all that is needed.

Instructions

1. Empty your pockets of coins and other objects that can make sounds when you are moving. Pour spare Airsoft ammo in a sock to muffle the sound while carrying it.

2. Wear camouflage clothing, including a hat, that is appropriate for the locale where the "war game" will take place. The type of camouflage for a wooded area such as a forest will be different than that for rocky terrain.

3. Move slowly and hug the ground as much as possible to avoid betraying yourself through movement that catches the eye.

4. Memorize hand signal commands that will enable you and your team members to communicate with each other without calling out. Your voice is not an asset in stealthy maneuvers.

5. Paint your Airsoft gun a dull gray color, if the weapon is a bright color initially, so that it does not call attention to itself.

Adventure Gift Ideas For Men

Paintball playing can quench a man's thirst for adventure.

An adventurous gift for the man in your life can be exactly what he needs to reinvigorate his boyish spirit and sense of adventure and fun. Choose something that will challenge him but not to the degree that it pushes too far outside his comfort zone. Use your knowledge of his skills and interests as well as limitations to choose the best adventure gifts for him.

Paintball

Giving him a gift certificate to a paintball field could be the ideal way to get his adrenaline pumping. Many fields offer specials and promotions for large groups that may fit into your budget, or ask his friends to pay their own way. Your man can satisfy his craving for adventure by playing Capture the Fort or Last Man Standing, as he snipers paintballs and ducks hits.

Kayak

A new or rented kayak or canoe is an effective way to give the gift of excitement and adventure to the water enthusiast. Set aside an afternoon for him to take a spin in a local river or amidst the waves of the ocean. There are differences between ocean kayaks and river kayaks, so be sure you purchase or rent the right type. Don't forget to also include comfort and safety accessories, such as a wet suit and life jacket.

Trip

An adventurous trip could be the ideal choice for the adventurer in your life. Consider a weekend of white water rafting, a sky-diving expedition or a rock-climbing excursion. These trips will require you to take his interests as well as limitations into account when planning. A man who is terrified of heights may not be thrilled at a sky diving-adventure, for example. Choose activities that will excite him rather than scare him. As a little something extra, include items associated with the trip, such as a wet suit, helmet or merely an action-equipped camera.

Remove Runs In Automotive Paint

Runs in the paint of a newly painted vehicle can be seen once the paint has completely dried. They are unsightly and can show up on almost any surface of the vehicle. Rather than sanding and repainting sections of the car, there is another way to remove runs that is much easier. Almost anyone can learn remove runs in automotive paint using a method that only takes about an hour of time.

Instructions

1. Park the vehicle in the sunlight, if possible, so that any runs are easily seen. If there are several runs, you can use a marker to make small marks directly on the runs to easily find them.

2. Use 600-grit wet sanding paper to gently sand the runs smooth. Keep the sandpaper soaking wet the entire time you are sanding. Sand until the run is smooth, though the clear coat will now appear dull.

3. Sand the run again with 900-grit wet sanding paper and water. Once this is done, sand over the area again using 1200-grit wet sanding paper and water.

4. Rinse the car, paying attention to all of the areas that have been sanded. Allow the car to dry completely before moving to the next step.

5. Apply liquid rubbing compound to the clean buffing pad of an orbital polisher. Polish all areas that were sanded until they shine. You can polish the entire car for a deep, glossy shine.

Paint Flecktarn

Flecktarn camouflage uses smaller dots of color than other types of camouflage.

Flecktarn is a type of spotted camouflage developed by the German military. Sometimes also called fleck, flecktarn comprises three, four, five or six colors in a spotted pattern. The exact number and colors of the spots vary according to the type of terrain in which you plan to use the camouflage. The spots eliminate the boundaries between colors and provide a camouflage effect. The pattern, originally designed for use in temperate woodland areas, has also been adapted for desert use through the varying of the colors.

Instructions

1. Place a bit of each color paint into a paint tray. Lay out your brushes and a dish of water. Place a rag or piece of paper under the material you are painting to ease cleanup.

2. Clean and dry the material you want to paint. If painting on metal, remove any oil or grease. Wash the material with soap and water, and dry it thoroughly.

3. Use the black and white paints to lighten or darken the green colors to create a range of colors that suit your tastes, or that match the area where you plan to use the camouflage. You should have one dark green area, one light green and one color between the two.

4. Place some of the brown paint on a large brush. The exact size of the brush will depend on the material you are painting. Dab the brown paint on the material so it makes large spots. Aim to cover around half of the material with brown spots. The spots can overlap in places but should not all run together.

5. Use the medium brush to dab on spots of dark green. Dab paint on areas with no color, as well as overlapping some of the brown. Clean and dry the brush.

6. Use a medium-size brush to dab on spots of a medium green color. Layer the paint on top of and next to spots of other colors, as well as on areas with no color. Clean the brush, then dab on spots of the lighter green in the same way. At this point, most of the material should be covered in spots of paint.

7. Mix black and white paints together to make dark gray. Dab spots of gray onto the material.Create fewer gray areas than green or brown areas; the gray will provide a shadowy effect on the finished material.

8. Use a small brush to fill in any areas not already covered in paint. Dab on any of the colors you wish.

Spray Paint A Camo Pattern

Create a camo pattern freehand with spray paint.

Camouflage is man's way of mimicking nature, in order to blend in. Artfully painting machines and uniforms to meld into the environment gives you a tactical advantage, as you can see but not be seen. To add a camo pattern to an object, first you must determine the environment you want it to blend into, be it the forest, desert or digital space. Create patterns using the environment as a reference to freehand draw shapes, and select spray paint colors that will work with the pattern to give you a realistic result.

Instructions

1. Pick matte spray paint colors that fit with the environment you are trying to blend into. Choose three shades -- dark, medium and light -- of the same color for a camo color palette. For a forest camo, choose black, dark green and light green. For a desert camo, choose dark brown, medium brown and light brown. For digital camo, choose black, gray and navy blue.

2. Spray the object with the darkest color of the color scheme selected. Hold spray paint 6 to 8 inches from surface, and use long sweeping motions to avoid harsh start and stop lines. Apply an even coat. Let dry.

3. Examine the environment you are trying to mimic, either in pictures or in person. Create a pattern freehand on the object. Draw chalk lines in a contrasting color from the basecoat to correspond with effect you'd like to achieve: foliage-like shapes for forest camo, long, wavy shapes for desert camo and blocky, pixel-esque shapes for digital camo.

4. Spray medium color onto the pattern, following the chalk lines. Do not coat the entire object; let some base color show through. Let dry.

5. Spray the lightest color onto the object to highlight certain pattern areas. Let both the basecoat and the second coat show through to create a textured appearance. Let it dry.

Raise Revenue In An English Football Club

Increasing revenues could upgrade this football training facility.

English football is awash with money at the top of the professional pyramid system. Elite clubs make huge sums from selling their worldwide TV rights, as well as in sponsorship deals and prize money. However, even for amateur "grass roots" clubs based in smaller communities, there are ways to raise funds. Whatever your club's goals, there are ways of increasing revenues to pay for them, as long as people within the club are prepared to think creatively and donate their time.

Instructions

1. Approach local businesses, using contacts from within the club if possible, in order to find a sponsor. Shirt sponsorship is a key way of raising revenue. For teams at grass roots level, this will most likely involve a local business providing funding, on the condition that their business is advertised on the front of your shirts and on any club literature. When speaking to businesses, remember that you are able to offer them a significant publicity opportunity and the chance to enhance their brand by becoming involved with a source of local pride.

2. Ensure you have a venue at which the club can hold social events. Any social activity that your players, their families and friends enjoy is a potential source of revenue for the club. Hold as many social events as you can. For example, organize a quiz night, with a small entry fee and a prize for the winners. Provide food, which you can charge for. Appoint a member of the club as Events Coordinator, with responsibility for generating fundraising opportunities through such social activities.

3. Search for community development grants, which are offered by various major British companies and charities. Thoroughly research and understand the requirements of the grantmakers before completing the application form, to avoid wasting effort and resources. Remember that your club has the power to benefit the community, and a grant may come with the responsibility to focus some of the club's activities on specific social goals. Be prepared to report back to your funders, in the event that they require feedback on how the grant has been spent.

Make Polar Kebbit Clothing On Runescape

Make Polar Kebbit Clothing on RuneScape

Polar kebbits populate the high mountainous regions in the "RuneScape" multiplayer online video game. Players with the hunter skill often track down these creatures in order to sell their fur on the marketplace. Anyone in the game who obtains this fur, either by purchasing it from the market or hunting kebbits, can transform the fur into polar camouflage armor that makes the wearer harder to locate in snowy regions. Polar camouflage armor also offers decent protection against ranged and crushing damage.

Instructions

1. Travel to the Fancy Clothes Shop in southeastern Varrock. The shopkeeper, Asyff Bymajique, can transform your furs into polar kebbit clothing for a fee.

2. Select the Polar Camo Top from Asyff's list of available items. Asyff requires two of your polar kebbit furs and 20 gold pieces for this item.

3. Select the Polar Camo Legs from the list. The legs also require two furs and 20 gold pieces.

4. Click "OK" to complete the transaction. Your furs will disappear, and the two polar camo items appear in your inventory for use in the polar regions of "RuneScape."

Assemble A Remington Rw

Air rifles are enjoyed by youth and small-game hunters alike.

Remington is the only American gun maker that simultaneously produces weapons and ammunition. Many of its shotguns and rifles feature a model and serial number, preceded by the letters "RW." This is the abbreviation for "Remington Works." Although this monogram is affixed to a number of gun models, it is most common among Remington air-rifles.

Instructions

1. Insert the piston into the action of the gun, where the compression chamber resides. The piston is the component that compresses the air to fire the gun. Follow the piston with the spring guide -- it has a washer attached -- and the mainspring.

2. Attach the trigger housing to the back of the action apparatus. The mainspring resists this operation, so place the trigger housing against a wall or table to hold it in place.

3. Insert the one or more bolts into the base of the action, to the front of the trigger. Begin turning the bolts manually, and then switch to the adjustable wrench.

4. Place the action in the stock, with the trigger closest to the butt-end. Screw in the trigger guard using an Allen wrench.

Decorate A Splatter Paint Room

Splatter-painted rooms offer ample decorating opportunities. The technique calls for using a paintbrush to splatter paint on one or more walls, which are usually white. When one color dries, another color is splattered on the wall or walls and then another until the person who's painting is satisfied. Decorating a splatter-painted room does not require special skills or talents. Repeating the colors in accessories pulls the room together. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Replace the furniture in the splatter-painted room with white furniture. White furniture complements the white in the walls.

2. Dress the rest of the bed in solid-colored sheets and a comforter, if you're decorating a bedroom. Select a color that matches one of the splatter-paint colors. If you want, pull different colors from the splatter-painting for the comforter, pillows and sheets. Don't forget to add toss pillows.

3. Remove the light fixture in the room, and install a ceiling fan according to the manufacturer's directions. Ceiling fans come in a variety of colors, styles and shapes, ensuring that you can purchase one to match a splatter-paint color.

4. Replace the switch plate covers on the wall with colored switch plate covers. Typically, switch plate covers are white. Replacing them instantly adds another touch of color.

5. Remove framed artwork from the walls. Artwork makes splatter-painted walls look too busy.

Invert Mini Operating Pressure

High-end paintball markers can fire more than 20 paintballs per second.

The Invert Mini is an electro-pneumatic (EP) paintball marker, manufactured for the intermediate to advanced paintball player. The marker is capable of shooting over 20 balls per second (BPS), if the loader will feed paintballs at that rate. Most EP paintball markers use two air pressure regulators, one each for high and low pressure systems in the marker. The redesigned Mini only uses a one pressure regulator, which is included and preset when the marker comes out of the box.

Instructions

1. Air up the marker. Screw a compressed air tank into the Invert Mini's ASA adapter. The ASA on this marker is also the air pressure regulator, which comes preset from the factory at 200 PSI. Kee Action Sports, the marker's manufacturer, determined that this is the optimal air pressure for the marker.

2. Test the marker. Connect your favorite loader to the top of the marker, and test fire a few hundred balls though the gun without adjusting the air pressure. In most cases, the marker's factory setup is perfectly suited for paintball play.

3. Verify the marker's velocity. Most paintball fields set paintball marker velocity between 250 to 300 feet per second (FPS). Before you step onto a field, test your marker with a chronograph and verify the speed.

4. Change the regulator's pressure hesitantly. The paintball velocity is changed via the velocity adjustment screw. If you do choose to change the marker regulator's pressure, turn the pressure down by turning the Allen screw on the front of the ASA-regulator. Take a few shots and then look at the pressure gauge on the ASA-regulator. The marker will continue to fire at less than 200 PSI. A lower setting will economize on air consumption, but may cause performance problems at high rates of fire. The marker should never be set to over 200 PSI, because higher pressures can damage the gun's internals.

Ideas For Paintball Game Scenarios

Using new paintball scenarios can spice up your games.

Paintball is an adventure sport in which individuals or teams armed with air guns that shoot paint filled ammunition, or "paintballs," compete by shooting one another in an elimination-style competition. If you get shot, you are out. The popular sport has become quite creative over the years and those who host paintball events use a variety of scenarios to set up the games and keep them interesting. Lining up two teams in a game of straight Capture the Flag doesn't always cut it anymore. Try these scenario ideas to spice up your paintball experience.

Blackjack

With the rise in popularity in paintball came a wave of new and advanced weapons that truly separated the ability of the players to compete depending on what they could afford. The Blackjack scenario takes the advantage of high-powered weaponry off the table, according to WarPig.com. Blackjack is set up to resemble a game of capture the flag. Two teams are divided equally and start at opposite ends of the course at their flag station. The object is for one team to "capture" the flag and return it back to their flag station before the opponents can do the same. If you are shot during this game, you are eliminated. The major difference in Blackjack and regular Capture the Flag is that each player is limited to 21 paintballs to complete the game. Someone with a semi-automatic doesn't have much advantage over a single shot pump pistol.

Traitor

Traitor is a captain elimination game in which two equally divided teams enter the playing area and battle until one team's captain is eliminated. Before the game starts, each player draws one card. The cards contain only two face cards, a king and a jack. The rest are just random numbered cards. No one shows their card or can mention what they got, with the exception of the king. The player dealt the king is team captain and announces it and must wear a special armband or another identifying mark during the game. The process is repeated for the second team. All players return their cards to the pile without mentioning what they have drawn. The player who drew the jack is the traitor -- a secret agent working for the other team. His job is to remain undiscovered and get close to the captain. Once certain conditions in the game are met, such as the elimination of a percentage of the players, the traitor yells, "I'm a traitor!" He can begin playing for the other team immediately.

Bunny Hunt

Bunny Hunt is a paintball scenario in which a group of players hunt a single (bunny) player. The bunny player gets a five-minute head start into a wooded playing area and is allowed a semi automatic paint gun and a shield such as a trash can lid. The hunters all begin hunting on the sound of a loud whistle from the same point at the same time. Each hunter is limited to 20 paintballs and there is a time limit of 20 minutes until "hunting season" ends. The object is to eliminate the bunny if you are a hunter, and merely to survive if you are the bunny. If the bunny shoots a hunter, he is out. If a hunter runs out of paintballs, he is out. Hits on the bunny's shield do not count.

Difference Between Aluminum Hardcote & Anodizing

Anodizing and hard coating are two methods used to change the surface of metal for a variety of reasons. Both processes are commonly used on machined parts used for nearly any purpose.

Hard Coat

Hard coat is an electrochemical process that places an aluminum part into an electrolytic bath and applying electrical current in the bath and colored dyes can be added to the bath to give the aluminum part a desired vibrant color. This process results in an oxide coating on the aluminum part. The coating is harder than steel and scratch resistant.

Anodizing

Anodizing is an electrochemical process used on metals, such as aluminum, magnesium and titanium. This process is accomplished by placing metal parts and a cathode into an acid electrolyte bath and passing electric current through the liquid. Anodizing alters the surface of the metal by using a highly controlled method of oxidation and the results leave the surface of the metal porous so it can easily accept other processes, such as coloring and sealing.

Differences

A couple of major differences exist between hard coating and anodizing. First, anodizing alters the surface of the metal while hard coating is added to the metal, increasing the thickness of the part. When designing and machining parts that will be hard coated, one must also take into account the fact that hard coating will alter the depth and diameter of holes and will have differing effects on blind holes than it does on through holes. Threaded parts will also be affected.

Attach A Paintball Co2 Tank

The CO2 tank is what powers your paintball gun. If the tank is not attached correctly, you will most likely not get the same power from your shot as you would if the CO2 tank was properly attached. Once you learn attach the tank, it should only take several seconds. You can practice the following steps and become proficient with attaching the CO2 tank.

Instructions

1. Check the rubber ring around the nozzle of the CO2 tank to be sure that it fits securely. This ring keeps all of the CO2 inside of the tank. If the O-ring on your tank is not secure, you need to find a way to make it so. Without a well-fitted O-ring, CO2 will leak from your tank as you play.

2. Find the threaded insert for your tank. This is where you will screw the Co2 tank onto the gun. Most likely, the insert will be located on the back side of your gun around the grip area.

3. Line up the CO2 tank with the threaded insert. Rotate the tank clockwise. It should begin to screw into place. When it is tight, you will hear and feel a burst of air come from your gun. This is normal, and it means you are attaching your tank correctly. Keep twisting the tank clockwise until it is as tight as you can possibly make it. Now your CO2 tank is attached to your gun.

4. Check the tank and how it fits inside of your gun. If the CO2 tank was not properly put into place it may be tilted to a point where CO2 is leaking from your gun. If CO2 is leaking out, readjust your tank so that it fits in perfectly straight to your gun.

Start A Laser Tag Business

Laser tag is a fun, family-friendly recreational activity popular among youth and adults for team-building events, birthdays, youth group events and more. Compete with other fun centers in your area by designing an arena that will keep customers coming back for more. According to Entrepreneur's website, start-up costs may exceed $50,000. Start by conducting market research to ensure viability. Then develop a business plan to present to financiers.

Instructions

1. Learn local population statistics via the Census Bureau. Your target market will be children between the ages of 7 and 18. Research other youth-friendly recreational businesses in your area, taking note of their amenities and pricing, to determine how best to compete.

2. Determine whether to open an indoor or outdoor laser tag business. While outdoor tag will be somewhat limited by inclement weather, if you live in a relatively and consistently warm climate, weather may be of little concern. Outdoor laser tag may be a much cheaper investment and integrates well with a mobile laser tag business, since you will already have equipment suited for outdoor terrain.

3. Determine what amenities you will include with your laser tag business. If opting for an outdoor park, you may want barbecue pits and benches, in addition to your facility, which will house your private meeting room, restrooms and water fountains. As well, you may opt for vending machines or a café. For an indoor facility, you may want to include an arcade room or birthday party room that can accommodate at least 30 people. Expect to need at least 6,000 square feet.

4. Purchase or lease commercial land or a facility large enough to accommodate your business. If opting for an outdoor laser tag field, look for well-drained land, preferably with a few natural barriers such as large rocks or trees.

5. Develop the arena to create a unique and safe laser tag experience. The theme, use of fog machines, interactive effects and lighting will help create a dynamic atmosphere. As well, your arena may include a maze, be asymmetrical or symmetrical, or be multi-level. Keep in mind that due to the dim lighting and fast pace of the game, most people won't notice intricate paint jobs at indoor parks. Spend your time creating great game play and worry less about the aesthetic appeal of your obstacles.

For help developing your arena, consult with a laser tag designer.

6. Purchase a laser tag system, concession food and supplies for your café, arcade machines and vending machines, as needed. When selecting a laser tag system, consider the length of the charge for the guns, maintenance requirements, voice and sound effects, game audit control and the software features.

7. Consult with an attorney and insurance agent to develop waivers and safety policies and to purchase liability insurance. Then hire responsible employees to run the café and assist with the operations and game play by informing players of the rules and showing them operate the equipment.
