Army Recruit Training

The army molds recruits into soldiers.

United States Army Basic Combat Training for recruits is an indoctrination into the army way of life. Civilians are turned into soldiers over the course of nine weeks. They learn the importance of teamwork, what it takes to become a successful soldier and the army's seven core values. By the time recruits leaves basic training, they know the army way of life.

Phase One

Recruits learn to rappel in phase one.

The army divides recruit training into several segments. During phase one, or red phase, the recruits receive a general orientation, get standard haircuts and are issued uniforms. They also learn about nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, as well as landmine defense. Recruits learn to rappel, and they take the army's physical fitness test.

Seven Core Values

The army's seven core values help indoctrinate recruits into the army.

During phase one training, the recruits also learn the army's seven core values. These are: loyalty, duty, respect for others, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. Learning and incorporating these values into daily life is part of the transition process from civilian to soldier.

Second Phase

Phase two teaches basic combat skills.

The second phase includes basic marksmanship, learning to march as a cohesive group, training exercises, engagement skills, running an obstacle course and field training exercises. Recruits are also taught basic combat skills, and they rappel down the "Warrior Tower," to boost their self-confidence.

Phase Three

Recruits learn to use grenades in phase three.

Phase three familiarizes the recruits with the use of automatic weapons, as well as hand grenades. They learn to use three different types of machine guns and participate in a nighttime field training exercise. Two long marches are also included in this phase, one for 10 kilometers and the other 15 kilometers.

Advanced Individual Training

Artillery is one of the advanced individual training schools.

Recruits graduate after phase three is completed. They move to advanced individual training after basic training. The advanced training prepares recruits for their specific jobs in the army. Some of the schools in advanced training are infantry training, air defense artillery school, military intelligence school, army armor school, military police school, aviation logistics school, chemical school and engineering school. Others include quartermaster school, signal corps school, field artillery school, finance school and transportation school, just to name a few of the possibilities.

Specialized Schools

Airborne school is one of the specialized school options.

Specialized training awaits the recruit after advanced individual training. Possibilities include airborne school, army medical department school and ranger school. Other schools include jump master training, pathfinder school, the defense language institute, warrior transition school, drill sergeant school and Special Forces training. The army offers a host of specialty schools, increasing the chances that recruits will find a career to their liking.

Make A Paintball Bazooka

Make a Paintball Bazooka

While paintball is a sport/activity of skill and marksmanship, it can always be made easier by the invention of better technology. Sometimes that technology involves shooting a larger quantity of paint or balls at an intended target. This is where a paint bazooka comes in. And they are not difficult to make as long as you have the right products.

Instructions

Building the PVC Section

1. Wipe off the end of the 2-by-15-inch PVC pipe with a clean rag. This will eliminate the debris from the end and allow a cleaner seal with the PVC T fitting.

2. Brush the PVC cleaner and cement onto the end of the PVC pipe that you will be placing inside the T fitting. Cover 1/2 inch of the PVC pipe from the edge inward, encircling the entire pipe with the cement.

3. Place the T fitting on the end of the pipe that you have just covered in PVC cement. Do this step before the adhesive dries.

4. Place the 2-by-2-inch PVC pipe into the opposite end of the T fitting. Cement it in place properly as well. If done correctly, it should look as if the PVC pipe has gone completely through the T fitting and come out the other end -- with the bottom leg of the fitting still open.

5. Cement and adhere the PVC cap to the end of the 2-by-2-inch PVC pipe. Make sure to leave the 15-inch PVC pipe open and clear.

6. Cement and adhere the 2-inch PVC reducing bushing onto the bottom, open end of the T-fitting. This will shorten the opening of the PVC pipe to an opening of 1/4 inch.

Starting the Steel Section

7. Wrap the threads of both ends of the 1/4-inch short steep nipple with Teflon tape. This will seal connections when screwing them into the elbow and the bushing from Step 6 in Section 1.

8. Screw the nipple into the end of the PVC bushing. Making sure that the connection is secure and airtight. This will ensure that the compressed air will not leak out at inopportune points.

9. Screw the 1/4-inch 90-degree steel elbow onto the open end of the nipple. Use a wrench if necessary to make the seal as tight as possible. As for position, try to get the opening of the elbow to point in the same direction as the opening of the 15-inch PVC pipe. This will make control and operation of the device easier for the user.

10. Wrap the threads of both ends of the 1/4-by-5-inch steel nipple with Teflon tape. This, again, will seal connections when screwing it into the elbow and valve.

11. Screw the 5-inch steel nipple into the elbow joint that you assembled in section 2, step 3. Use a wrench if necessary to make sure the seal is as tight as possible--again, not wanting to let air leak out.

12. Screw the 1/4-inch ball valve onto the end of the 5-inch steel nipple. Make sure the connection is secure. Test out the valve release lever to ensure that it is a fluid motion. If not, lubricate the valve with WD-40 to make the action more fluid.

Connecting the ASA CO2 Assembly

13. Wrap the threaded ends of both of the steel reducer bushings with Teflon tape, ensuring a tight seal.

14. Place the 1/4-to-1/2-inch reducer bushing into the open end of the ball valve. Screw it in tightly, using a wrench if necessary.

15. Place the 1/2-to-1/8-inch reducer bushing into the 1/2-inch open end of the bushing in step 2 above. This will allow a 1/8-inch opening in which to connect the ASA CO2 assembly, through which the pressurized gas will flow through.

16. Screw in the ASA CO2 assembly into the 1/8-inch open end of the bushing from step 3. This is the completed assembly of your paintball bazooka, minus the CO2 tank.

17.Make sure that the ball valve is closed. If you have it open while you insert the paintball gun tank into the ASA assembly, you will loose a massive amount of air pressure.

18. Finally, screw in the CO2 tank into the ASA assembly, completing the device. To fire it, simply turn the ball valve open, which will release the contents of the gun-tank, propelling the balls forward.

Open An Outfitting Business

An outfitter is a professional who takes you out into the back country to hunt, fish, or experience nature. They have outdoor survival skills and an in-depth knowledge of the wilderness in their area. If you enjoy horseback riding, camping, fishing, hunting or just exploring the back country, then consider turning your outdoor knowledge into a profitable outfitting business.

Instructions

1. Familiarize yourself with wilderness in your area. In order to be an outfitter you need to know everything there is to know about streams, lakes, wildlife, flora, marine life, weather conditions, hazards and outdoor sporting rules and regulations. It is a good idea to take survival skill courses, hunter’s safety courses and horsemanship courses, as well as to get certified in these outdoor activities. Finally, you will and your staff will need to be certified in first aid and CPR.

2. Identify your niche. There are usually only a few outfitters in a given area. To make sure your business stands out from your competition you need to find a way to make your services unique. For example, you can focus exclusively on fishing trips, or you can offer trips to locations where you have exclusive access. Many outfitters own large parcels of land on which there are places for water recreation, fishing, hunting and horseback riding. However, this is not a requirement.

3. Acquire all the supplies, equipment and real estate that your business will need. Depending on what types of adventures you plan on offering you will need horses, barn, feed, saddles, bridles, veterinary care arrangements, inflatable boats, oars, patch kits, life jackets, fishing equipment, hunting gear, safety equipment, walkie-talkies, an office location, vehicles to transport clients and gear to trailheads and general office supplies.

4. Hire and train your staff. Your office staff will probably include a receptionist/office manager and possibly sales clerks. Your field staff will be made up of horse handlers, porters, wilderness guides, hunting guides and fishing guides. When hiring your staff you will want to make sure you conduct background checks on each person you hire to ensure they can be trusted with the lives of your customers, and to ensure the experience that they have listed on their resume is real. Bond your field staff to protect yourself.

5. Launch your outfitting business with a special event. For example you can have a barbecue or picnic where people can visit your business, have free food and beverages, talk to your guides and review the activities you have to offer. You can also offer free or low-cost tours on the day of your grand opening. Have door prizes, raffles and other giveaways to attract as many people as possible to your grand opening.

Use A Mud Mask On Your Legs

Soak in the tub before the mud mask.

Made from clay, a good mud mask purifies and moisturizes your skin. The mud cleans the dirt and grime out of your pores and increases circulation to make aching legs feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Whether you make your own mask or use a store-bought one, the procedure can be done simply and the results will be the same. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Wash your legs in either a bath or shower. Soaking in a bath tub would be better to open your pores. Shave your legs, if needed.

2. Slather the mud mask on your legs, covering all the skin. The mask need only be thick enough to cover the skin.

3. Place a sheet or towel down on your bed and put a pillow at the foot of the bed. Cover the pillow with another sheet or towel.

4. Lay down on the bed, placing your feet on the pillow. Stay there for about 20 to 30 minutes while the mud dries.

5. Wash the mud off in the shower. Rinse with water, using a washcloth to remove any mud that does not easily wash off.

Operate A Glock

Glocks are reliable, durable and easy to use

Glock handguns are made by GmbH Glock of Austria. Selected as an everyday duty weapon by many local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, Glock pistols feature a steel slide and a polymer frame. The design of the Glock is straightforward to allow for ease of use and maintenance. It is also popular among target shooters and home owners for defense, the Glock is easy to shoot and accurate right out of the box.

Instructions

1. Inspect the magazine of the Glock handgun to ensure that the correct caliber of ammunition is being used and that it is loaded properly. Use only the ammunition that the gun is chambered for.

2. Put on hearing protection and safety glasses. Place the magazine into the grip of the Glock. Push the magazine completely in to the grip until it locks into place. Keep your finger away from the trigger and point the gun in a safe direction even though a round is not chambered.

3. Hold the grip of the Glock with your dominant hand. The V between your thumb and index finger should be along the rear of the grip. Wrap your fingers comfortably around the grip and place your index finger alongside, but not on, the trigger.

4. Continue to point the Glock in a safe direction and grasp the steel slide of the gun with your opposite hand. Pull the slide back to allow a round to move from the magazine to the chamber. Release the slide and allow it to move completely forward. This will seat the round in the barrel and seal the firing chamber.

5. Raise the barrel of the Glock toward the target. Turn your free hand palm up and place it underneath your dominant hand, and cup the side of the hand holding the gun and the bottom of the grip. Wrap your fingers and thumb around the dominant hand to support it.

6. Locate the target between the sights on the rear of the gun. Raise the front sight so it rests on the target and can be seen in the window of the rear sight. Place your finger on the trigger, take a deep breath and hold it. Squeeze your hand around the grip of the Glock to press the trigger. Do not pull or yank on the trigger as this can cause your shot to pull to the side.

Nerf Gun Work

How Does a Nerf Gun Work?

What is NERF?

NERF is the brand name of line of soft, indoor toys manufactured by the American toy giant, Hasbro. The line began in the 1980s with the manufacture of soft footballs and related toys. It soon branched out into its line of highly popular soft-projectile firing toy guns. These guns gained immense popularity both because of successful marketing strategies and because of their status as a fun but safe alternative to more dangerous hard projectile guns.

Pump Action

All NERF guns fire their ammunition using the power of air pressure. For this reason, all NERF guns employ a manual air pump system. When this device is pumped by the user, it pushes compressed air into a chamber. To a limited extent, the more the user pumps, the more pressure the air in this chamber has, and thus, the more firing power.

Some earlier NERF guns employed a system where projectiles where fired directly through a single good pumping action, but newer guns employ a different system. These toys will have an air-filled chamber connected to a finger trigger. When pulled, this trigger will cause a short burst of fast-moving air to be released from the air chamber into the firing area of the gun.

Pop Guns

Many of NERF's guns are made to fire foam balls and work on a principle very similar to old fashioned cork guns. A ball made of dense foam is placed at the mouth of a cylindrical firing barrel. When high-pressure air moves through this barrel, the ball initially blocks the passage of the air. However, as the pressure of the air builds up behind the ball (this happens in a fraction of a second), it creates enough potential energy to break through the seal created between the ball and the barrel, sending the ball flying straight out at high speed.

Foam Dart Guns

The other types of toy gun gun commonly made by NERF are those that shoot darts and these use a somewhat more sophisticated system. These darts are light and cylindrical with a hollow inner chamber and are made from a soft foam. However, unlike other foam toys, NERF darts are soft but the air-filled chambers within them are sealed. This means that the inner chamber can be airtight, an essential feature for firing since air will not carry the darts if it can pass through them.

When a NERF dart gun is prepared for firing, it is threaded onto another hollow rod which, when the trigger is pulled, will fire a blast of fast-moving air through the rod, taking the dart with it. The action of firing one of these darts is more immediate than the firing of a ball through a NERF pop gun, since there is very little buildup of pressure inside the dart's inner chamber.

Fun Creative & Interactive Games For Kids

There have been many games over the years that have been created for kids or by kids for the sole purpose of having fun. Hide and seek or cops and robbers have more than likely been played by everyone at one point in their childhood. It is always fun to remember the classic games that have been passed down through time and teach them to our own children. It also is interesting to see how they have evolved.

Dodgeball - Murder ball

There is no better interaction game for kids than dodgeball. We all have fond memories of this game as kids and maybe a few dents as well. Dodgeball is not only fun, but it provides exercise and opportunities to think about strategy while kids avoid being hit by rubber balls. Some of the rules of the game have varied over the years, and many other games have evolved from it, but still the main goal in dodgeball is to be the last one standing. Avoid being hit by flying kick balls while using the same balls to get the other team's players out, and you will accomplish the task.

A variation of the game has player that are hit and removed from the field not being placed out of the game, but placed around the sidelines of the opposing team. There they can use any balls that roll out of bounds to get the other team's players out. Those that are put in this position can not win the game but can help their team win by removing the opposing players. However, by doing so, they are sending players to the boundaries of their team's side as well. In some cases a traffic cone with the tip cut off also is placed on each side. A large whiffle ball is placed on the cone. If the ball is knocked off of the opposite teams cone, the game is over and the team that knocked it off wins. This game is sometimes called murder ball.

Octopus Tag

Tag has had its place on the playground for too many years to count. Giving kids the chance to run as well as think out their plans to not get caught, tag has changed little over the years. Creative variations of the game include freeze tag, flashlight tag and octopus, but the main goal is simple--don't get caught or you'll be "it".

In octopus tag, once you are tagged you link arms with the person that tagged you. Together you try to tag others, collecting more and more links. Also those trying to avoid capture are not running around all over the place, but are running across from one end of an area to another. Once they make it to the other side they are safe until it is time to go again.

Rack-O

Rack-O is a 50-year-old card game that you can still buy, but you don't typically find in stores. Online is your best bet if you want to purchase it, or you can create it yourself. You will need to make a set of cards out of construction paper numbering 1 through 60. You will only use 1 through 40 if only two players are playing, 1 through 50 for three players, and all cards for four players. You will need to make a rack for each player that holds 10 cards in slots so that the player can see his cards. Try making small rectangular boxes out of cardboard, cutting slots at regular intervals.

The cards are dealt one at a time and the players place the cards in the slots as they get them. The first card they get goes in the slot closest to them, and each card after that is placed in the next slot working toward the final slot. The rest of the cards are placed face down in the middle with the top card turned face up next to it. The face down card pile is the draw pile and the face up card is the beginning of the discard pile.

The point of the game is to get your cards in order with the lowest being closest to the player and the highest furthest away. The numbers only have to be in order based on low to high such as 2, 10, 15, 22, 26, 33, 35, 39, 42, 49. When it is his turn, a player can draw a card from the draw pile or the discard pile. If he pulls a card from the draw pile, he can replace one of his cards with the drawn card and place his card in the discard pile. Or, if he does not like the card he draws, he can place it directly in the discard pile. If the player draws from the discard pile, he must use that card. Once a player has all his cards in order from low to high, he shouts "rack-o!" and the game is over.

Fix Air Coming Out Of The Pull Trigger Of A Paintball Gun

A paintball gun mimics the look and feel of the real weapon it replicates. A gas-firing paintball gun uses compressed air to fire a projectile. A leak in the firing chamber can cause air to be expelled from around the trigger mechanism. This will inhibit the needed pressure to fire the projectile. To fix the leak in the trigger, use tools that will allow for the partial disassembly of the gun. Supplies from a hardware store will be needed as well. The procedure, with slight differences because of their construction, is similar for all replica guns using compressed air.

Instructions

1. Remove the ammunition clip from the butt of the paintball gun and place it aside. Cock the sliding plate at the top of the gun toward you. Upend the gun to let any projectile inside the firing chamber fall out. Return the sliding plate to its original position.

2. Place the paintable gun on a table with the barrel facing right. Remove the screws from around the handle, around the trigger and from the front and back top edges with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the screws that are at the bottom edge of the barrel and at the top edge in front of the hammer at the left side.

3. Push in on the locking plate inside the front of the barrel. Rotate the plate counterclockwise and remove it. Pull the top shell of the gun off and place it aside.

4. Unscrew the socket at the bottom of the black tube lying in the inside top edge of the gun. Pull the hose off the socket. Remove any screws on the left and right sides of the gun with the screwdriver. Pull the black tube out of the gun. Place the tube on the table with the protruding metal tip facing right.

5. Pull the metal tip out of the tube. Reinsert the metal tip into the tube. Rotate the tip back and forth. Push the metal tip into the tube until you hear a click. Rotate the tip so that the two screws on each side are both vertical.

6. Place the tube back in the gun with the socket facing down. Place the hose back on the socket. Tighten the socket. Reattach any screws on the tube that were removed earlier.

7. Place the top shell back on the gun. Insert the locking plate into the front of the gun. Rotate the locking plate so that the tab is facing down. Reattach the screws into the top shell. Insert the clip back into the butt of the gun.

Paintball Gun Vs Airsoft

Paintball and Airsoft feature nonlethal guns for military simulations and as an extreme adventure sport. The guns used in each sport differ in the ammunition they use, the power source for the gun and how realistic each gun appears compared with lethal military weapons.

Paintball marker

The Facts

Paintball guns, called markers, shoot brightly colored balls of gelatin using compressed air. Airsoft guns fire plastic BB's with a spring mechanism, gas power or more commonly by eclectic battery.

Velocity

Both gun types can fire up to speeds of 300 feet per second or 204 mph. Supervised paintball fields monitor gun speeds using a chronograph.

Games

Paintball and Airsoft predominantly play the team-based game called capture the flag. One hit with a paintball or BB typically eliminates the hit player for that round.

Safety

A paintballer hit in the goggles with orange paint.

Wear a facemask protecting the eyes and face while participating in either activity. Paintballs and Airsoft plastic BB's can bruise the skin and injure sensitive areas such as eyes.

Considerations

Airsoft designs mimic actual rifles, pistols, shotguns and machine guns that can be mistaken for real military guns. Paintball guns typically have distinguishing features such as bright colors, an air tank and paintball hopper.

Clean Safety Goggles

Dirty safety goggles impede vision and may even pose a danger to your eyes--flecks of dust or other material on the lenses can enter your eye, causing irritation. Cleaning safety goggles is very easy, takes little time, and prevents these dangers.

Many cleaners work okay for cleaning goggles--however, for best results (streak-free cleaning and goggles that won't fog up) use cleaners created specifically for lenses. Goggle/glasses cleaners keep lenses clear and clean longer--and they don't contain substances (such as soaps) that can leave residue. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Rinse goggles under cool water to remove debris, if possible. If you don't have water readily accessible, you may dust the goggles with a dry cloth. (If you have a can of compressed air on hand, this also works well.)

2. Spray the lenses liberally, inside and out, with an anti-fog lens cleaner. You'll find this at most places (hardware stores, for example) that sell safety goggles.

3. Wipe the inside of the lenses with a clean cloth to remove all dirt and debris. Spray the inside with the cleaner once again, and wipe dry with a fresh cloth. This may seem redundant, but you may not get all the grime off the first time you spray and wipe the glasses.

4. Spray the cleaner on the outside of the lenses. Wipe these clean with another fresh, soft cloth. Spray it again, as you did the insides of the lenses. Wipe with a clean cloth to dry .

5. Use the cleaner on the sides and ear pieces as well. Debris left on these may travel toward the lenses when you are wearing the goggles.

Fire A Blow Gun

Blow guns use the power of your lungs to generate pressure inside a long hollow tube in a piece of wood. The pressure builds up behind a cotton-wrapped dart, forcing the dart out of the end of the blow gun and at the target at a high speed, allowing the dart to puncture the target. Proper firing is important, as making mistakes can lead to errant shots --or even accidental ingestion of the dart.

Instructions

1. Select a dart from your dart pouch.

2. Remove cotton from the dart pouch and press it around the body of the dart, a few inches from the back of the dart. Spin the dart with the fingers of your other hand to wrap the cotton around the dart.

3. Repeat if needed until there is a ball of cotton wrapped around the dart slightly larger than the opening of the blow gun.

4. Lick your fingers, then rub them around the exterior of the cotton ball if needed to get the ball to sit down in a tight ball shape.

5. Insert the dart into the back of the gun, with the point facing forward.

6. Bring the gun up and aim at your target with your dominant hand wrapped around the back of the gun and your non-dominant hand slightly forward with the palm turned up to add extra support.

7. Breathe in with your mouth away from the gun to avoid inhaling the dart.

8. Bring the gun to your lips, then exhale sharply to propel the dart out of the gun.

Fill Your Own Paintballs

Water balloons can be used to make paintballs and paint grenades.

While paintball can be an exciting hobby, replacing paintballs and paint grenades can get costly. To save some money, create custom ammunition at home. The project can get messy, so be careful if doing this indoors. Paint for paintballs can stain and damage furniture. However, the result is custom-made paintballs to use and replace as needed.

Instructions

1. Cover a table with a tarp to protect it from any paint that might drip or leak. Place a pitcher on the table and pour the paintball paint slowly from its container into the pitcher. Put the pitcher aside.

2. Stretch four to five water balloons to make them easier to work with during the filling process.

3. Insert the tip of a plastic funnel into a balloon's opening. Slowly pour the paint from the pitcher into the funnel so it does not spill. Fill the balloon about three-quarters full.

4. Remove the funnel from the balloon and tie the end of the balloon to close it. Make sure the knot is tight to prevent paint from leaking out. Insert the paintball into the paintball gun to see if it fits. Paintballs that are too large will break inside the gun, while paintballs that are too small will not shoot properly. Adjust the size of the paintball, and repeat the steps to make additional ammunition.

Cyberknife Procedures

Cyberknife is a non-invasive alternative to traditional surgery for tumors in the brain and spine.

CyberKnife is a robotic radio-surgery tool created by surgery experts at Stanford University and the Schonberg Research Corporation. It is manufactured and distributed by Accuray, a company at the forefront of robotics and radiation technology. CyperKnife is used to control cancerous tumors, usually in the brain and spine, without invasive surgery. This alternative to traditional surgery accurately locates tumors and delivers concentrated amounts of radiation to them without damaging healthy tissue.

Cyberknife for Brain Tumors

Brain surgery and chemotherapy have long been the standard treatment procedures for brain tumors. CyberKnife technology, however, now makes radiation treatment for brain tumors more accurate, less invasive and generally safer than traditional surgery. CyberKnife uses a robotic arm to shoot radiation at sub-millimetric targets on a patient's skull to control the brain tumor, to prevent further malignant growth and to potentially extend brain cancer patients' survival. The CyberKnife procedures for brain tumor control have been extremely effective thus far, with more than 90 percent of patients' tumors responding to the treatment.

CyberKnife for Spine Tumors

Spinal surgery and radiation procedures before CyberKnife were complicated for surgeons and frightening for patients. Indeed, it is imperative the spinal cord not be damaged in any way during a tumor treatment procedure. CyberKnife makes non-invasive treatment of spinal tumors more accurate with computer precision and less dangerous because the system has a feature that tracks tumor and patient movement throughout the procedure. CyberKnife adjusts its robotic arm as needed during the procedure to ensure that the spinal cord is not injured during radiation treatment.

Selecting Cyberknife

CyberKnife technology is becoming more prevalent as patients with brain and spine tumors seek a non-invasive treatment option. However, if you are interested in a CyberKnife procedure, you may need to travel to a specific medical facility because these machines are not widely available. Unlike conventional surgery for tumor reduction and control, CyberKnife is a painless outpatient procedure. CyberKnife is a revolutionary piece of medical technology with enormous benefits for patients with tumors.

Paint Digital Camo Patterns

Paint Digital Camo Patterns

Camouflage has evolved over the years. Camouflage previously consisted of tying branches, leaves, reeds and any other naturally occurring plants to your military uniform. Over the years it has evolved into paint schemes and fabric types used in uniform or armor construction. Soft-edged and hard-edged camouflage has been the variety of choice until recently. Digital camouflage patterns have been introduced recently into the American armed forces and in some other countries as well.

Instructions

1. Spray the lightest color of your camouflage pattern onto the material you wish to paint. Keep the spray can 12 inches away from the object as you are spraying.

2. Cut little squares out along the edge of the roll of painter's tape with a hobby knife. Cut out a square in random increments along the length of the tape. Cut out squares within the bounds of the edges of the tape too. Apply the grid-like pieces of painter's tape horizontally along the length of the object you are painting. Apply the tape until it resembles the template found in the Resources section.

3. Spray the object with the second deeper shade of camouflage color. Keep the spray can 12 inches away from the object as you are spraying.

4. Apply more small pieces of the the cut out painter's tape along the length of the object.

5. Spray the object with the third and deepest shade of camouflage color. Keep the spray can 12 inches away from the object as you are spraying.

6. Remove the painter's tape before the paint dries.

The Effects Of Using Co2 With A Smart Parts Ion

CO2 is mainly intended for cheaper paintball markers.

While CO2 may be a suitable source for many models of paintball markers, it is not recommended for use with a Smart Parts Ion. CO2 is an air source that is mainly intended for lower-end, cheaper paintball markers. It is inconsistent, inefficient and causes additional wear and tear on the internal parts of a paintball marker. The Smart Parts Ion is a high-tech paintball marker that was designed with other air sources in mind.

Inconsistency

CO2 is an inconsistent air source for paintball markers. The Smart Parts Ion, like many other paintball markers, will experience changes in the velocity of each shot when CO2 is used. This is due to the fact that the pressure in the tank changes along with changes in the weather. A hot day will cause the pressure inside the tank to increase, while cold days will do the opposite.

Wear on Internal Parts

CO2 is known for creating extra wear and tear to the internal parts of paintball markers. The Smart Parts Ion is a high-tech paintball marker that may see additional wear from the use of CO2. CO2 can damage o-rings inside the paintball marker, requiring frequent maintenance. The purpose of o-rings is to help create airtight seals within the paintball marker. CO2 will freeze these o-rings and make them brittle.

Liquid CO2

When using CO2 as an air source for the Smart Parts Ion, there is a possibility that liquid CO2 may enter the marker. This will happen when the marker is facing downward, even at a slight angle. When liquid CO2 enters the paintball marker, it creates additional wear and tear on the internal parts and can even stop the marker from firing.

CO2 vs HPA

It is recommended that a paintball player use HPA in his Smart Parts Ion rather than CO2. HPA refers to compressed air. It is an alternative air source for paintball markers that is more efficient and consistent than CO2 and puts less strain on paintball markers. HPA will prevent many of the problems that CO2 may cause in a Smart Parts Ion.

How Mechanical Paintball Guns Work

How Mechanical Paintball Guns Work

Parts Involved

A paintball gun requires the synchronization of a handful of parts in order to fire a paintball successfully. The first part is the bolt, which is the part on the inside of the gun that physically does the action of firing the paintball. The second is the trigger. The trigger allows the release of the bolt in order for it to fire forward. Then there is the gas canister, which provides the gun with the pressure and gas to fire the paintball. With a mechanical paintball gun it is generally carbon dioxide, or CO2. And finally, the barrel is what allows the paintball to fly as straight as possible.

The Firing Process

All of the parts have to fire and release at the appropriate time in order to fire the paintball properly. At first, the user has to cock back the barrel, usually with the tiny rod on the top or on the side. Once the barrel is cocked, the paintball falls into the chamber. The trigger releases the bolt, at the same time releasing a tiny bit of gas through the front of the bolt. The air and the bolt fire the paintball at about 220 to 300 feet per second, depending on the settings. After the paintball is fired, some more gas helps replace the bolt so that you can fire another paintball without having to cock the barrel again.

Find Interesting Adult Summer Activities

Kayaking makes for a fun summer activity.

We associate going to the beach or pool as a summer activity but the summer offers so many other things to do. In fact, summer can last well into September. Just because the calendar says it's after Labor Day doesn't mean the summer activities should end. Some of the best adult activities can be done when the days are a little cooler. No matter where you are, events are happening near you during the summer months and after school has started.

Instructions

Become an Active Adult

1. Summer is a great time to feel young.

Go out and try a new water sport, such as kayaking, canoeing or boating. Go on a boat tour for whale watching if you're on the coast or to view lighthouses and other scenery. Some boat tours are cruises to nowhere, which can be fun just to get out on the water. If you've always wanted to go fishing, you can rent fishing poles to see if it's something you would like. Some more extreme activities are surfing, scuba diving, wakeboarding, white water rafting, jet-skiing, windsurfing and water-skiing. Find some new locations for swimming, or find waterfalls near you.

2. A hike in the woods is a good way to spend a summer day

Venture into a local or national park with your camera to enjoy the scenery or to go hiking. Find new trails, bring a picnic lunch and explore with a friend. Explore a cave or go to the extreme and go rock climbing. You can go to a rock climbing school that will take you on climbs so that you're doing this activity with instruction. Go on a helicopter or sightseeing plane ride or ride a hot air balloon. Go bird watching, moose watching, or just explore nature. Ride a bicycle or go dirt or mountain biking.

3. Find a local festival. There are festivals of all kinds, including blues, jazz, rock, bluegrass or folk music festivals. Other festivals celebrate local products such as a lobster, blueberry or strawberry festivals. Some festivals on the coast celebrate boats, such as a Windjammer festival, while other festivals involve hot air balloons or art. Early summer festivals include Summer Solstice festivals, such as the ones held in Seattle and Rockland, Maine. Late summer festivals include food festivals such as Greek festivals or the San Gennaro Festival in New York's Little Italy, where many blocks are filled with food vendors and people.

4. Playing tennis is a great way to keep active

Go to an amusement park, host a block party, have a backyard barbecue. Explore your state. Many people have never seen parts of their state that others love to visit. Take a mini-vacation. Go find a place with go-karts and mini-golf, as in Cape Cod or other New England states. Watch a sunset or sunrise and take your camera. Go camping or camp out in the backyard. Try inline skating, street hockey, or throw a football at a nearby high school. Jog on the high school track. Play stickball in the city. Find a baseball or softball league or even pick-up games. Play beach volleyball or find a volleyball tournament or group.

5. Playing Kadima on a beach is fun

Play basketball or tennis. Play Frisbee or Kadima at the beach, which is an Israeli game played with paddles and a ball. Play paintball with friends. Find an outdoor concert and picnic with friends or a loved one. Enter a race or marathon. If you're single, join an adult summer camp or find a camp for you and your spouse. Take your dog to a dog park and watch him have fun, or let him swim in a lake or river. The possibilities are endless. Participating in these activities is a great way to prolong the summer.

Zero In Bow Sights

Zeroing in a bow is a simple but necessary procedure.

You will not hit your target accurately or consistently if the sight on your bow is not properly zeroed. On the top and side of the sight are dial-knobs that raise and lower the sight's crosshairs. Adjust the dial-knobs with a small, flathead screwdriver. Zero the sight in your back yard or at a shooting range.

Instructions

1. Place a target 25 yards from your shooting position. Take aim on the center of the target.

2. Release the draw string and allow the arrow to hit the target. Check the target to determine if the arrow is higher or lower than the spot at which you aimed.

3. Turn the dial-knob clockwise to raise the sight. Turn the dial-knob counterclockwise to lower the sight. Adjust the sight accordingly.

4. Take aim on the target and fire an arrow. Check the target to determine if the arrow is to the left or right of the spot at which you aimed.

5. Turn the dial-knob clockwise to move the sight to the right. Turn the dial-knob counterclockwise to move the sight to the left. Adjust the sight accordingly.

Find A Place To Have A Graduation Party

Celebrate your graduate's achievement with a party.

Whether it's a beach party for 100 people or a family dinner for 20, the right venue for a graduation party can set a festive tone and make or break the party. Pick a spot that's small enough to create an atmosphere that's both energetic and intimate, but large enough so chairs don't bump into one another. Reserve your spot at least six months in advance and begin planning and gathering decorations to make the event one that the new graduate will remember for a lifetime. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Banquet Halls and Rooms

1. Call or email the local Chamber of Commerce in your city or a nearby city for a list of hotels, banquet halls and other party locations.

2. Read through phone book listings under "party sites," "party planners" or "event locations."

3. Ask local party rental companies, caterers or other party vendors if they know about good rental sites. Word-of-mouth is sometimes the best source for both popular places as well as hidden gems.

4. Visit online wedding sites or wedding shops to get a list of places they recommend to brides.

5. Call or visit local restaurants to see about renting separate rooms or the entire restaurant. Choose a restaurant that the graduate will find especially appealing, such as a sports bar, a pizza parlor or a favorite ethnic spot.

Outdoor Locations

6. Call or email city, county and state Parks and Recreation departments. Some sites will include only picnic areas, while others may also offer overnight accommodations in cabins or yurts.

7. List restaurants with separate outdoor patios or screened areas that you can rent just for your party. These areas offer privacy for your group and ready access to the entire restaurant menu.

8. Visit online tourism listings in your city to find outdoor spaces. Your local zoo, botanical garden or yacht club may have a variety of rental spaces available. Ask about activities available at the site, such as the zoo's merry-go-round or petting zoo.

Unique Locations

9. Ask travel agents about rental spaces in tourist locations and visit online tourist listings. Consider an aquarium, museum, roller or ice rink, theater or winery.

10. Ask a friend with the perfect room, country home or backyard if you can rent the space for a day. You may need to bring or rent all party supplies, such as tables, plates, utensils, lighting and possibly tents when choosing this option.

11. List your graduate's interests and find a location that fits. If the graduate is an athlete or is interested in fitness, contact a local health club to see if part or all of the facility is available for rent. Bowling alleys, paintball venues, or swimming pools provide active graduation party sites for teens and pre-teen graduates, while historic churches, off-season ski chalets or charter boats offer sophisticated venues for college graduates.

Calculate J Coupling Constants

Models of molecules.

Coupling is a scientific term used to describe the interaction between protons. Coupling constant J is a specific way of expressing how these protons behave when this interaction occurs. When the behavior of these protons is mapped out on something called an NMR spectrum, the diagram reveals a series of peaks and valleys representing the strength of the protons' magnetic fields. The distance between these peaks is known as the coupling constant J.

Instructions

1. Gather the necessary data about the molecule. You will require access to measurements indicating the height of the molecule's NMR peaks in parts per million. This information can only be gathered with a nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscope. You will also need to know the strength of the NMR spectroscope in megahertz.

2. Convert each peak's parts per million into hertz. To do this, multiply each peak's parts per million by the strength of the NMR spectroscope. For example, if you had a peak that was measured at 3.632 ppm on a spectroscope operating at 500 mHz, you would multiply 3.632 by 500 to get 1816 hertz. This should be done individually for each of the peaks.

3. Find the difference in hertz between two of the peaks. To do this, subtract the hertz of one peak from the hertz of the other. The difference is the coupling constant J.

Make A Camo Suit With Bright Leaves

Camouflage allows the wearer to better blend in with natural surroundings.

A camouflage suit complimented by leaves and other foliage is also known as a ghillie suit. Typically used by snipers and other military specialists to conceal their whereabouts in forested terrain, the ghillie suit provides some degree of invisibility, rendering it commonplace not only amongst military personnel but also amongst hunters, airsoft and paintball players and other wargame enthusiasts.

Constructing your own camouflage ghillie suit takes a fair bit of time and patience, as well as quality materials.

Instructions

1. Lay the BDU flat, arms extended, facing down. Place the netting across the back, starting just below the collar, and extended along the entire armspan from one cuff to the other.

2. Cut the netting along the underarm portion of the net, just enough to allow for the net to also wrap around the sleeves, upward and around the front.

3. Thread the waxed dental floss, and sew the netting to the back and sleeves of the BDU, as tightly and as securely as possible. Using the polyurethane adhesive, glue the intersecting corners of the net to the BDU. Repeat this process for the front of the garment, ensuring that you do not block access to pockets you plan to use, nor any closures, your beltloops or zipper.

4. Tie the pre-cut, pre-dyed jute around one line of netting on each side of the netting squares. Tie each piece on in a simple, single knot so the ends dangle. Mingle camoflage colors of jute.

5. Weave the plastic foliage with bright leaves throughout the netting at random, accounting for as little or as much cover as you'd like. Secure the leafy strands with polyurethane adhesive and let the adhesive dry.

Clean A Camo Finished Gun

Camo finish changes the way that you clean your gun.

Cleaning is essential for the upkeep of your camo finished gun. With the camo finish you will never have to oil the outside of your gun again, just clean and oil the inside. Guns that were made years ago required cleaning after every use. Today, modern guns are not as corrosive and you can actually get multiple uses between cleanings. In addition, being familiar with your gun and knowing use it not just while firing rounds but also during the cleaning process is very important.

Instructions

1. Unload your gun. As you do so, make sure there are no rounds in the firing chamber. Also empty out any shells or cartridges.

2. Wipe down the gun. Use the cloth patches for this preliminary step. Use firm, smooth strokes to remove dirt, grime and contaminates.

3. Scrub the inside of the frame and cylinder. Use the brush that came with the gun cleaning kit. It will look like a tooth brush.

4. Clean the barrel using the rod. To do this, you will use the largest attachment in your cleaning kit that will fit into the barrel. Most attachments can hold a piece of cloth, such as one of your cloth patches. Dip the cloth patch in the solvent before placing it on the rod. Then insert the rod into the barrel gently until it appears out on the other end. Repeat this 4 to 5 times.

5. Dry the barrel. Insert a dry cloth into the barrel several times until it comes out completely clean.

6. Apply small amounts of gun oil to all of the movable parts. Your gun cleaning kit may come with an oil applicator, or you can use a cloth patch to apply the lubricant.

7. Wipe the outside of the camo gun with dry rag. You can use one or several of the cloth patches for this as well. Because your gun has a camo finish, you will not need to oil or otherwise cleanse the outside of the gun. Just rub it thoroughly with firm, smooth strokes to remove dirt and grime.

Fun Games To Play In A Call Center To Keep Reps Motivated

Fun Games to Play in a Call Center to Keep Reps Motivated

Call centers are hubs of consumer-customer service contact. Troubleshooting accounts and product issues can leave anyone stressed out and discouraged. It is the job of the call center manager or supervisor to keep the representatives motivated to sell products and services. Since workers are limited to the call center, heading outdoors for some sunshine is not an option. Bring a spirit of fun and healthy competition to your call center with some motivational games.

Pass the Bear

Introduce a new mascot to your call center reps. Choose a funny-looking stuffed animal, like a teddy bear, to be the mascot. Pass the mascot around the room as kind of badge of honor. Every hour, pass the bear to the representative who makes or accepts the most calls or makes the most sales. Whoever has the bear the most during a shift or during a workday wins a special prize, like a candy bar or small gift certificate at a local fast-food restaurant.

Race Track

Mount a dry erase board in the call center where everyone can see it. Laminate a paper jockey on horseback for every worker you have. Make them different colors. Mount them on magnets, and place them at the starting line on your dry erase board. Draw a finish line on the opposite end of the board. The finish line could be a quota or number of calls. As the workers work toward their goals, move the racers forward on the line. The first one to cross the finish line should receive a little prize or reward like a cupcake or some cash.

Basket of Toys

Working in a call center it is easy to feel chained to your desk. Pass around a basket of toys for reps to play with while dealing with stressful phone calls. These could be squishy balls, vibrating balls, a Slinky, mini chalkboards and little dolls. Avoid sharing toys that make a lot of noise that can be distracting to workers. Give quiet, active toys that will bring a smile to your workers' faces. Keep toys clean by spraying them with disinfectant occasionally.

Pass the Buck

Present your reps with a crisp new dollar, five-dollar or ten-dollar bill. For fun, use a giant paper bill to represent the actual money. Pass the dollar bill to the reps that make a sale. Award the bill to the last person to make a sale that day. Alternatively, you could award the bill to the person who makes the most sales in a day. Take a picture of the winner holding the dollar bill or the giant bill, and post it on a bulletin board for everyone to see.

Take Apart A Muzzleloader

Inline muzzleloader assembled and dissasembled

Muzzleloaders are a gun of the past but still have a following today. Loaded by pouring powder down the muzzle followed up by a lead bullet, muzzleloaders give enthusiasts a sense of nostalgia while also being effective hunting weapons. And just as muzzleloaders are not loaded like a modern gun, they are not cleaned or disassembled like a modern gun either. In order to clean a muzzleloader it is necessary to completely disassemble the gun. This article will walk you through the process of taking your muzzleloader apart, either for cleaning purposes or for upgrades to the gun itself. The entire breakdown process should take no more than five or 10 minutes for a complete novice.

Instructions

1. Begin by examining the owner's manual that came with your gun. It will give you an idea of where to begin with your particular gun model and can even offer some tips or hints for the more difficult aspects of the gun breakdown. Assuming you are dealing with a "cap ignition" muzzleloader, cock the hammer and use a nipple wrench to unscrew the cap nipple from the barrel.

2. Locate the barrel mounting pin in the stock of the muzzleloader. Sometimes this exists as a screw and other times it is simply a pin which you will have to push out with a screwdriver. Remove the pin and place it somewhere you can easily find it later.

3. Lift the barrel up and forward, away from the gun stock. This will release both the stock mount and breach plug mount of the barrel. You can now disassemble the lock assembly by using a screwdriver to unscrew the assembly from the face of the gun stock.

4. Place the barrel firmly in a padded gun vise. Using the padded pliers, grip the breach plug at the bottom end of the barrel and turn it counter-clockwise. It may take several tries and a lot of elbow grease, but eventually the breach plug will come loose. You now have disassembled the entire muzzleloader--lock, stock, and barrel.

The Best Way To Strip & Polish Gun Metal

Stripping and polishing your gun's metal can improve its appearance and value.

Gunmetal can lose its luster due to routine carrying and use. A poor finish or myriad surface scratches can significantly reduce the value of a gun. Stripping the gun's finish and polishing out its flaws can improve both a gun's worth and appearance. Save gun stripping and polishing for winter months or inclement weather, when it's difficult to get outside and use your gun.

Instructions

Stripping the Gun

1. Disassemble the gun completely and separate all of its parts. Place the parts you'll strip and polish into the plastic gun-parts box. Put all other pieces in the zip-lock bag.

2. Apply Naval Jelly or another chemical stripper to the gun parts you're refinishing. Leave the stripper on for five to 15 minutes. Leaving it on longer can cause permanent dark streaks on your gunmetal.

3. Rinse off the Naval Jelly with water and dry your gunmetal. Stripping the gun's finish will reveal imperfections, such as scratches and pits, in the metal, so you can concentrate on polishing the areas that need the most work.

Polishing the Gun

4. Clamp the gun piece by piece into the vise, bracing each side of the gun part with the wood inserts lined with cork. The inserts protect the gun's metal from scratches or dents from the vise.

5. Wrap the small sanding block with a cloth-backed abrasive strip.

6. Apply kerosene to a small portion of the gun part you're polishing. The kerosene will help prevent metal bits from clogging the abrasive strip.

7. Sand each gun part with the abrasive strips. Start with the 120-grit strip and move to finer grits as needed, up to 400-grit strips.

8. Wrap a piece of abrasive strip around the wooden dowel to polish the gun's cylinder flutes. Rub the flutes with the strip-covered dowel.

9. Reassemble the gun after you've finished polishing its parts with abrasive strips.

Ghillie Instructions

Burlap fabric provides a rough, natural texture.

A ghillie suit is a form of attire meant to trick the eye with three-dimensional camouflage that blends into the environment. Soldiers and hunters, as well as paintball enthusiasts, commonly utilize ghillie suits. According to Tom Forbes, author of "The Invisible Advantage Workbook," the best ghillie suits are handmade so the pattern is sporadic. The process of making a ghillie suit is simple, requiring only a bit of time and a few supplies.

Instructions

1. Purchase a set of camouflage fatigues and a brown-brimmed hat or cap from your local surplus store. Ensure the fatigues, or uniforms, are long sleeved to cover as much of your skin as possible. If you do not have a surplus store nearby, a tan button-down shirt and tan pants will suffice.

2. Combine half a packet of both green and brown fabric dye together. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to mix water with the dye powder, using a combined amount specified for one dye packet.

3. Dye five yards of burlap fabric in the mixed fabric dye per the manufacturer's instructions. Allow the fabric to dry.

4. Cut the dyed burlap into strips ranging between two and four inches wide, and six to 12 inches long, with sharp scissors.

5. Sew the strips onto your camouflage fatigues and hat using a needle and brown thread. Only sew one end of the strips, leaving the length hanging down. The goal is to cover the entire suit and hat in strips of burlap. Do not make the burlap placement methodical; rather, sew the strips at random with one to three inches space in between. The strips should overlap each other and completely cover the suit. On the hat, strips should hang down over the brim, disguising its general shape.

6. Tie local vegetation to the burlap strips at random, over your entire ghillie suit and hat. For example, gather local sticks, twigs and long grasses similar to your intended hiding location.

7. Put on your ghillie suit, and cover the exposed skin of your hands and face with brown and green face-paint. Paint the two colors in alternating splotches, forming a camouflage pattern.

Airsoft For Beginners

In the last three decades, Airsoft has emerged as an immensely popular combat simulation sport, gaining fans and participants worldwide. Learn what Airsoft is and everything a newcomer needs to know.

What is Airsoft?

Airsoft is a combat simulation sport, similar to paintball. Developed in Japan, where it is illegal to own firearms, Airsoft guns evolved from toy BB guns into highly accurate replica firearms. As the sport has gained an international following, it has grown into a highly popular activity.

Airsoft games are usually played as skirmishes between teams, or scenarios designed to simulate military or police actions. In all games, being hit, or tagged, with an Airsoft projectile removes the player from the game.

Airsoft Guns

Airsoft guns come in a wide variety of types and styles, ranging from pistols to sniper rifles. Generally speaking, these guns all fall into three categories, based upon the firing mechanism.

Gas-powered guns usually rely upon CO2 or Green Gas (a propane-based propellant) in small tanks integrated into ammunition clips. Similar to paintball guns, these guns use compressed gas as the propellant. In some guns, this allows for more realistic features, such as gas blowback slide mechanisms that appear to function just like real firearms. Unfortunately, these guns run out of gas rather quickly, and require a new full tank to resume play.

Spring-powered guns require the user to cock the weapon before each shot. They tend to be far less expensive, and for this reason they are quite popular among newcomers. While many experienced players prefer semiautomatic or fully automatic guns, some single-shot models are prized for their realism.

The most popular category uses a powered electric gearbox to load the next round and compress gas for the next shot. These Automatic Electric Guns, called AEG's for short, draw power from a rechargeable battery. These models allow for semiautomatic and fully automatic shooting, and can be used for three or four hours on one battery charge.

Safety Equipment

Because Airsoft involves small projectiles fired at high speeds, it's important to wear proper protective gear when playing, primarily eye protection. All organized groups and playing fields require participants to wear eye protection, and others may also require some sort of face mask in addition to goggles.

When selecting Airsoft goggles, look for shatter-resistant or shatterproof lenses. Buy goggles that use Lexan glass, or offer similar guarantees of protection. Find styles that offer a full seal against the face to prevent a stray round from slipping in from the side.

Beyond goggles, you may want to protect your face with a mask of some sort. Paintball masks make for effective protection, and using a balaclava or shemagh head-wrap may actually enhance the sense of realism in your play.

Accessories

Hundreds of retailers online and in stores offer accessories for Airsoft players. Some important accessories fall into three groups: weapon upgrades, tactical gear, and clothing.

Weapon upgrades include rifle slings, laser sights, barrel extensions, even sniper scopes. Tactical gear includes everything from specialized vests to high-end flashlights to military-style knee-pads. Clothing regularly includes camouflaged BDUs, athletic wear, even vintage uniforms.

When purchasing these accessories, keep two things in mind. First, performance can only be improved so much. Unfortunately, there are limits to the range and accuracy of plastic pellets, and while some accessories may improve that accuracy, they can't work miracles. Second, in a simulation game played with replica weapons, looks and details do matter. Don't be afraid to purchase an accessory merely to improve the look or feel of your gun. Realism is half the fun.
