Charge An Electric Air Soft Gun

Electric airsoft guns, also known as automatic electric guns (AEGs), were originally developed in Japan. Electric airsoft guns feature a rechargeable battery pack that powers an electric motor. The motor operates gears, which propel the plastic airsoft BBs. Electronic airsoft guns typically replicate modern or historical weapons and are used in scenario games and re-enactments. As the popularity of airsoft has grown, so has the number of models available on the market.

Instructions

1. Remove any clips or magazines from the airsoft gun and release any air or spring pressure from the gun. Make sure the safety is on.

2. Locate the power specifications for the charger, which are printed on a sticker or molded into the plastic of the charger. Verify that the power output of the charger is compatible with the rechargeable battery in the AEG.

3. Attach the correct battery tip to the charger cord if necessary. Some models of charger cords are supplied with several different tips. This feature allows the unit to be used for charging more than one type of gun. Make sure the correct tip is used and check the polarity of the tip before charging.

4. Determine how long the battery in the AEG should charge. To do this, take the battery's milliamp-hour (mAh) capacity and divide it by the rate of the charger. For example, it would require four hours for a 250-mAh charger to fully charge a 1,200- mAh battery. If you do not have part or any of this information, simply check the battery periodically and unplug when warm to the touch.

The History Of Paintball Guns

Three decades later, paintball guns are becoming popular gifts for the extreme sport fan.

At the heart of paintball is the paintball gun, also knows as paintguns or markers. The game of paintball was started when simple paintball-shooting pistols were used as part of a "survival" game in Henniker, New Hampshire in 1981. Paintball markers continue to evolve by leaps and bounds as the sport grows.

Before Paintball

The first paintball guns were made by the Nelson Paint Company and were called Nel-Spots. These used a 12-gram carbon dioxide (CO2) cartridge and held up to 10 paintballs internally. Nel-Spots were used in the first paintball game ever played.

Early Paintball Pistols

In addition to the Nel-Spot, the earliest paintball guns were pistols like the PMI-Sheridan PG and PGP and the NSG Splatmaster. These pistols also used 12-gram CO2 cartridges and held 10 rounds internally. These pistols appeared in the early 1980s and were the standard for paintball guns for a few years.

Paintball Grows Up

By the mid-1980s, players were looking for ways around the limitations of the original paintball pistols. Players wanted to shoot more, faster, and with improved accuracy. Inventive players started taking their original pistols and adding extensions to barrels, longer feed tubes for more paint, and devices to allow faster changes for CO2 cartridges. Soon, manufacturers and aftermarket companies started offering paintguns that had these features built in, such as the PMI-I (a larger version of the PGP) or kits that allowed easy modifications to existing pistols.

"Comp" Guns, Direct Feed, and Constant Air

The improved paintball pistols led to an explosion in paintball technology in the late 1980s. Internal feed tubes and 12-gram CO2 cartridges gave way to direct feed and constant air. Direct feed was a way to feed a paintball from an ammo box to the gun. Constant air replaced the small CO2 cartridges with a bulk CO2 bottle. Both of these improvements allowed players to stay in the fight for much longer than before. In addition, improvements such as the "autotrigger" and longer barrels meant that players could shoot faster and more accurately. These were often referred to as "comp" guns, as in "competition ready", and included the PMI-II Piranha LB, the WGP Sniper, the CCI Phantom, and many more. Most paintball guns, however, were still based on either the Nel-Spot or the PGP internal design.

The Advent of Semi-Auto

The next step was the development of semi-automatic paintguns that did not require to be manually cocked for each shot. Two types of semi-auto design appeared in the late 1980s and early 1990s: blowback and "auto-cocking". Blowback semi-autos used some of the CO2 gas from each shot to "blow" the hammer back onto the sear, readying the gun to fire again. Early blowbacks included the FAST F1 Illustrator and the Tippmann 68 Special. "Auto-cocking" paintguns were originally pump-action paintguns that had a separate mechanism added that performed the action of pumping the paintball gun when the trigger was pulled. The most common of this type was the WGP Autococker.

Electronics Enter Paintball

The next revolution was the introduction of electronic triggers in paintball in the mid-1990s. Commonly called "electros," these paintguns disconnected the trigger from the actual firing mechanism and enabled trigger pulls to be as short and effortless as clicking a mouse button. These guns also made very high rates of fire easy to achieve by most players. Early electros included the WGP Angel and Smart Parts Shocker Sport.

Customize Spyder Paintball

A player with a paintball gun

Spyder paintball guns are among the most popular guns on the market. These guns are extremely easy to customize and, once upgraded, can have a very high level of performance. They are also quite affordable and can last many years. Whether your budget is small or large, there are plenty of upgrades for your Spyder paintball gun. Upgrades such as a barrel, electric hopper, compressed air tank and new trigger frame grip are very popular.

Instructions

1. Attach a compressed air tank to the air source adapter of the Spyder paintball gun by screwing it in. This is located below the trigger frame. Compressed air is more efficient than CO2 and will give you much better accuracy.

2. Unscrew the stock barrel from the paintball gun. Replace with a high-quality aftermarket barrel. Aftermarket barrels increase the accuracy and the distance of paintballs once they are fired.

3. Replace the stock hopper, which is the container that holds paintballs, with an electric hopper. Electric hoppers agitate the paintballs to allow for a higher rate of fire. These hoppers also help prevent the gun from breaking paintballs.

4. Unscrew the stock grip on the trigger frame with tools included with the Spyder paintball gun. Depending on the model of Spyder paintball gun, between two and four screws are located on the left and right side of the grip. Replace with a more comfortable aftermarket grip and replace the screws.

Make My Paintball Gun Shoot Harder

With a few adjustments, your paintball gun will shoot harder.

Make your paintball gun shoot harder by increasing the velocity. Not only does this cause the ball to have more energy upon impact, it also gives it a longer range. However, according to Paintball-guns.com, 300 feet per second (or 204 miles per hour) is the maximum safe speed for a paintball gun. Follow this regulation when shooting at other players so as not to injure them with more than a slight bruise. Warpig.com says paintballs traveling more than 300 feet per second can cause tissue damage upon impact.

Instructions

1. Place the radar chronograph in a location pointed away from people, buildings and animals.

2. Fill your hopper with paintballs and shoot two to three rounds through the radar chronograph. Make note of the current speed.

3. Insert the Allen wrench or hex key into the CO2 adjustment port (typically located just above the trigger on the left side of the paintball gun) and turn it one full turn counterclockwise, which allows more CO2 to flow through the chamber.

4. Shoot two or three more rounds through the chronograph and again make note of the speed. If the velocity still needs adjustment, repeat Step 3, using quarter- or half-turn increments until you reach the desired speed.

Sports Holsters Disadvantages

Urban Tool's Sport Holster is designed to hold Mp3 players and other personal items.

The Urban Tool Designs Sport Holster is a lightweight, ergonomic minimalist backpack designed to hold keys, change and MP3 players for people participating in parkour. The Sport Holster fits over each arm and across the back like a vest or a backpack and has a number of pockets and clips to hold various sundries. The Sport Holster has received strong reviews, but does have a few drawbacks.

Fit and Styling

The Sport Holster fits over the back and shoulders like a vest. According to Gear Diary, some reviewers experienced irritation and chaffing from the reflective string along the top of the holster. Gear Diary says: "I do find the back reflective strip (along the neck) to be a bit irritating as I run. It is a bit rough and it rubs along my neck, but it is fine if I wear a shirt with a higher neckline in the back." Devon Parkour writes that the look of the Sport Holster is "a bit unusual."

Pockets and Protection

The Sport Holster is designed for use in extreme running and parkour. As such, it is designed to be lightweight and unobtrusive. According to Devon Parkour, the small size of the back pocket disallows carrying even a small water or drink bottle. According to Parkour Helper, the back pocket is also rendered useless for carrying anything if you will be practicing rolls as any delicate cargo would be smashed.

Price

According to Parkour Helper, the Sport Holster comes with a price tag of $59.99, as of August 2010. "The fact that the back pocket is rendered useless when practicing rolls takes away from the value as only one pocket remains. What would normally seem a little high priced becomes a little pricier when function is taken into consideration," Parkour Helper says, and, because of the small size of the pockets, you cannot hold too many items.

Air Gun Laws In Florida

If you or someone you know is thinking of purchasing or operating an air gun in the state of Florida, there are a few points of law to keep in mind. While Florida has some of the most permissive laws in the nation governing the use of firearms and other weapons, there are still a few laws in place dictating who may use or possess an air gun and when.

Definitions

Unlike some other states, Florida does not classify air guns (bb guns and air or gas-operated pellet guns) as firearms or as dangerous weapons. Instead, the state lumps these weapons in with other non-lethal weapons such as stun guns. Given this light classification, it is important to note that the state laws are not so lax for all non-combustion projectile weapons. "Slungshots" or "slingshots" are classified as dangerous weapons right along with brass knuckles and tear gas guns.

Typically, an air gun is classified as a projectile weapon that fires .177 caliber to .22 caliber bbs or pellets by either air, gas or spring pressure.

Minors

Under Florida law, it is illegal for any minor under the age of 16 to use an air gun (bbs or pellets) unless they are in direct supervision of an adult who is the child's parent or guardian, or if the supervising adult is acting with the permission of the child's parent or guardian. Any adult who allows a child 16 years or younger under their care to operate or possess any air gun without direct supervision is guilty of a second degree misdemeanor and may face fines, jail time or probation.

Sterile Areas

Under Florida law, no weapons--including air guns--are allowed in public buildings, polling places, bars, certain sporting events not relating to firearms, or in the "sterile areas" of airports. Any individual who willingly violates this law is guilty of a second degree misdemeanor and may face jail time, fines and/or probation.

Equipment Needed To Play Paintball

Paintball is a thrilling game of strategy and execution. The game can be a fun weekend outing for friends or an addicting, lifelong pastime. Before you play, however, there is some equipment that you'll need. Those who don't have the right equipment are called spectators, so gear up and get ready for action.

Guns

Paintball guns, often called markers, are the first piece of equipment that you'll need to play paintball. Obviously, you won't be having much fun without a gun. Guns come in various types, including pump action, semi-automatic and automatic. They come in various sizes, colors and price ranges.

CO2 Tank or Compressed Air

Paintball guns are powered by some form of gas tank, either a CO2 tank or compressed air (nitrogen) tank. CO2 is the less expensive of the two and is a good option for the recreational player. Those who are more serious usually opt for nitrogen, which is a more accurate, reliable source. CO2 tanks come in various sizes, including 12-ounce, 20-ounce and 12-gram cartridges, while compressed air tanks use a two-part numerical sizing like 48/3000 that indicates volume (cubic inches) over pressure per square inch (psi).

Hopper

The hopper is the container that keeps your paintballs loaded on the gun. Without a hopper, you'd have to manually load balls one or two at a time, so the hopper is an important piece of gear that allows for quick, seamless shooting without frequent ammo reloads. Hoppers come in various sizes, denoted by how many paintballs they hold and may be gravity-fed or motorized. Rules of the specific game may dictate how large of a hopper you can use.

Mask

Perhaps the first piece of equipment any paintballer should buy is a mask. Paintball masks are designed specifically for paintball and protect the eyes and face from injury. Masks should always be worn on and near the playing field.

Paintballs

Almost too obvious to mention, paintballs are the projectile that the game is based on. These little balls hold paint and shatter on impact. They are available in various colors.

Squeegee

A squeegee is a tool that is used to clean the barrel of the gun. Paintballs can easily break in the barrel and the squeegee is used to clean out broken fragments.

Accessories

You can play a game with the equipment discussed above, but there are many other accessories for paintball. Paintball-specific clothing, extra paintball holders, paint grenades and gun sights are all accessories that can help to improve your game.

How Paintball Guns Work

How Paintball Guns Work

Introduction

Paintball is as much about tactics as it is about the use of the guns that make it so unique. Paintball guns shoot just that, paintballs. These are reminiscent of gel caps in that they are balls of liquid paint that are surrounded by a thin membrane. When they are fired out of a gun and come into contact with something, they burst and splatter a 6-inch mark of paint. Paintball guns can shoot paintballs at about 300 feet per second, but how do they do this?

Paintball Gun Composition

To begin to understand how a paintball gun works, understand the components. A paintball gun looks very much like a regular rifle, only the barrel is shorter and there are a couple of extra attachments. A handle and trigger is attached to a barrel. On the back end of this is a container that holds pressurized gas, which is what propels the paintballs out of the gun. The gas can be carbon dioxide, nitrogen or regular air. Usually located on the top of the paintball gun is another container that holds the paintballs themselves. Inside the gun is a bolt that controls and loads paintballs into the main chamber of the gun, a hammer that exerts pressure on the valve seat that controls the intake of gas from the pressurized gas container. These all work along with a caulker and a trigger to allow the gun to shoot paintballs.

How the Gun Fires

The first step in using a paintball gun is to caulk it. There is a handle on the side of the gun that is attached to the bolt inside. The bolt is usually positioned so that it covers a hole that is large enough for a paintball to pass through between the paintball container and the gun tube.

When pulling back on the handle, the bolt will move back as well, allowing a paintball to load into the gun barrel. At the same time, the bolt will push against the hammer behind it and drag it away when it moves back into place. This sets the hammer. When the trigger of the gun is pulled, the hammer is let loose and moves back into its original position with great force, which is increased with the help of pressure from a spring located between the hammer and the bolt.

The hammer then slams against the valve seat, which compresses and allows the release of some pressurized gas to flow through the gun. This gas then propels the paintball out of an opening at the other end of the gun.

Take A Paintball Gun Apart

You may need to disassemble your paintball gun for several reasons--for instance, to store it after use or to clean it properly. You can follow certain general procedures to take apart a paintball gun, but checking with your paintball gun manufacturer for model-specific variations in the process is important.

Instructions

1. Place the safety of the paintball gun to the "On" position. Once the lock is secured, remove the CO2 air source and unload any paintballs that may still be inside.

2. Remove the hammer of the paintball gun by pulling the strip pin in the middle of the receiver. Once the strip pin is engaged, slide the hammer out of the marker while grasping the grip of the structure.

3. Remove the trigger frame. Most paintball guns have two screws in the frame that you need to remove: one in front of the trigger and another behind it. Once you remove these, the frame should pull away from the rest of the frame easily.

4. Locate and remove the screws that hold the pump together.

Paint A Rifle Barrel

A rifle barrel can be painted by hand.

Outdoor and hunting stores sell rifles in virtually any color, caliber and style. Rifle barrels are typically colored in gunmetal, polished silver, black or camouflage. A stock rifle-barrel may suit you just fine, but if you wish to change its color you do not have to buy a replacement. Rifle barrels can be painted at home to suit the look you are trying to achieve.

Instructions

1. Remove the barrel from your rifle. Most rifle barrels can be removed from the stock with a screwdriver and nut driver.

2. Pour some rubbing alcohol on a rag; thoroughly wipe the rifle barrel to remove any dirt, oils or other foreign material.

3. Apply masking tape to any area of the barrel you wish to leave unpainted.

4. Spray a coat of primer onto the rifle barrel. Spray a second coat once the first has dried.

5. Spray-paint the barrel with the color of your choice. Ensure the paint you purchase will stick to metal; purchase paint that dries in a flat, non-glossy finish. Let the first coat of paint dry. Apply a second coat.

6. Dab a foam brush in a second color of paint; apply camouflage markings to the barrel if desired. Choose two or three colors common to the area in which you plan to hunt. You might wish to paint branches, reeds or natural elements on the gun.

7. Spray the entire barrel with a matte clear-coat. The clear coat will protect your paint job. Let the clear coat dry.

8. Remove the masking tape from the barrel, and reassemble the rifle.

Ea Sports Games For Pc

PC gamers that just so happen to be fans of the sports genre may have trouble finding any up to date sports games from EA Sports. As of 2008, EA Sports ceased release its sports titles on the PC. You can choose to remain optimistic for a return of EA Sports games to the PC, or you can take a look at some of the last games released by EA Sports on the PC.

FIFA 2009

FIFA (short for Federation Internationale de Football Association) is the go-to soccer franchise for EA Sports. Each yearly installment introduced slightly better graphics, new features and updated rosters and uniforms. "FIFA 2009" was no exception. "FIFA 2009" featured a new input system that allows the player to control more than one player at a time. The fluidity mouse and keyboard controls made this more accessible than the console counterpart.

NBA Live 2008

NBA Live saw its last PC release in 2007 with the release of "NBA LIve 2008." NBA Live 2008 received the typical roster and graphical updates, along with a new ball handling mechanic that allows players to manually control ball dribbling for flashy effects on the way tot he hoop. A new game mode titled "FIBA World Championship," allows players to partake in an eight team tournament that features an All-Star NBA lineup against the rest of the worlds best.

Tiger Woods Online

Unlike the other franchises, Tiger Woods has always had a strong showing on the PC when compared to the consoles. Because of this, EA Sports has decided to keep Tiger around and introduced "Tiger Woods Online," a free, yet different version of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour games. The base game of Tiger Woods Online is free, however, the game encourages the player to purchase enhancements for their golfer or additional equipment (using real world currency.) As an online only game, these enhancements and upgrades are necessary for players wanted to stay competitive.

Difference Between 223 Remington And 556 Nato Rounds

The .223 Remington and 5.56 mm NATO are similar, but differences do exist.

With the popularity of AR-15 rifles surging over the last 10 years, interest and demand have increased for the AR-15's most popular chambering, the .223 Remington. The 5.56 mm NATO cartridge is a variant of the .223 Remington, but the two cartridges are not the same. There are differences that a shooter or handloader must be aware of.

The .223 Remington and 5.56 mm Projectiles

The .223 Remington cartridge was developed in 1964. It fires a .224-inch diameter bullet, with bullet weights ranging from as low as 40 grains for varmints to as high as 90 grains for big game hunting applications. The 5.56 mm NATO cartridge has the same exterior dimensions as the .223 Remington. It also fires a .224-inch projectile in a wide variety of bullet weights, but, being a military cartridge, it is produced with bullets developed specifically for battle applications, such as tracers.

Chamber Differences

While the .223 Remington and 5.56 mm NATO share similar exterior dimensions, the chambers from which they are fired are different. The distance from the case mouth to where the rifling starts is called freebore or leade. The leade for a 5.56 NATO chamber is approximately twice as long as for a .223 Remington. The 5.56mm NATO chamber leade is .162 inch, while the .223 Remington's leade is .085 inch.

Pressure Differences

The 5.56 mm NATO's brass casing has greater wall-thickness than the casing for a .223 Remington. This is because the 5.56 mm NATO develops higher chamber pressure. The 5.56 mm NATO develops 62,000 psi, while the .223 Remington produces at 55,000 psi.

Interchangeability

Due to the differences in leade and pressure, the cartridges are not interchangeable. The .223 Remington can be safely fired in a rifle with a 5.56 mm NATO-spec chamber, but it is extremely dangerous to fire a 5.56 mm NATO round in a .223 Remington chamber. The operating pressure alone makes this a dangerous practice. Also, pressure can dramatically rise beyond safe levels because the 5.56 mm NATO would not have enough leade in a .223 Remington chamber.

Easiest Way To Make A Ghillie Suit

By providing a natural-looking visage, ghillie suits have long provided military sniper and recon teams with nature-based camouflage while out on missions. Some recreational hunters have taken to wearing the suits as well in order to bag a trophy buck or turkey. Typically, store-bought ghillies are expensive. A full homemade ghillie suit, however, can be just as effective in its concealment and can provide a more budget-friendly choice for price-conscious individuals.

1. Place both the jacket and pants on a flat and stable work surface. Use your hands to smooth out any wrinkles, as a level area makes the sewing and dyeing process easier. Place a large mesh sheet across the jacket and pants, then cut the mesh along the outline of the garments with scissors to form patterns.

2. Sew the mesh patterns onto the jacket and pants with the fishing line, skipping every two to three squares as you go for stuffing purposes later. Dab a few drops of adhesive gel to each sewed-on corner for additional strength. Set aside to dry completely.

3. Cut the jute rope into varied lengths, with no piece shorter than 18 inches or longer than 24 inches. Prep the dye according to the directions on the box, then soak each piece of jute rope in the dye. If using more than one dye color, cut the pieces in half before dyeing.

4. Allow the dyed jute rope to dry. Tie one length of dyed jute to every mesh square; tie them at different lengths to make an indistinguishable pattern. Pack leaves and twigs throughout all the mesh openings in both garments as desired to finish the project.

What Sport Is The Most Common Cause Of Eye Injuries In The U S

Injury statistics: 40,000 sports-related eye injuries per year

According to familydoctor.org, sports are responsible for more than 40,000 eye injuries a year. Basketball and baseball cause the most injuries, followed by water sports and racket sports.

Risk Factors

Watch out!

Sports that use a ball, puck, bat, stick or racket are considered high risk. Sports that involve body contact are also more likely to cause eye injuries.

Blunt Trauma

Hit or miss

Blunt trauma causes most sports-related eye injuries. It's caused when something or someone hits you directly in the eye. A blunt trauma injury can break your orbital bone (the bone under the eye), rupture your globe (resulting in a broken eyeball), or cause a detached retina. A black eye also can result from blunt trauma, but it is less serious.

Penetrating Injuries

Scratched cornea

These occur when something cuts into your eye, ranging from mild to deep lacerations to the eyeball. A scratched cornea is a common example.

Radiation Injuries

Overexposed

Outdoor activities, like water or snow skiing, can result in radiation injuries. Overexposure to ultra violet light is the culprit here.

Protection

The importance of eye protection

Most high risk sports mandate that players, especially young kids, wear some kind of mask, or a cage attached to their helmet. But according to familydoctor.org, the child still can be exposed to fingers or other sports equipment through these devices. They recommend seeing an eye doctor for sport-specific eye protection.

Refill Paintball Gun Bottles

Refilling your own paintball air tank can save money if you play the sport frequently.

Paintball guns use compressed air bottles, or CO2 tanks, to power and shoot paintballs. In this sport, participants wear protection and headgear and split off into teams to do battle with their paintball guns. After a certain amount of use, you will need to have your CO2 tank refilled to keep your paintball gun functioning properly. While you can visit your local sporting goods store to have the tank refilled, you can also take a few steps to complete the job yourself.

Instructions

1. Screw your adapter onto the end of the paintball gun air tank. This will release pressure in the tank. Hold the adapter in place until the tank is empty.

2. Check the label on the side of your paintball cylinder tank to confirm its size, such as 12 or 24 oz.

3. Unscrew the adapter and close your cylinder's valve. Zero out the tank on a digital scale.

4. Hook up your tank of the liquid CO2 and start refilling your paintball tank while it is still on the digital scale. Once the scale reads the ounce limit listed on your tank, turn off the pressure on the air supply and remove your paintball tank.

Touchup Anodized Aluminum With Paint

If you need to touch up failing paint on anodized aluminum, there is a critical issue to understand before you rush into the process. Metallic surfaces are smooth and nonporous. This makes them ill-suited for paint adhesion. Although anodized aluminum is rougher than ordinary aluminum, it may still reject new finishes unless it is pre-treated with an acidic primer. If the paint on your anodized aluminum is failing, it probably wasn't properly applied.

Instructions

1. Remove as much flaking paint as possible from exterior anodized aluminum, using a pressure washer with a low-pressure tip. Wait two to three hours for the anodized aluminum surface to dry. Skip this step if the surface is indoors.

2. Scrape off remaining bits of flaking paint using a putty knife.

3. Smooth the rough edges of chipping paint using low-grit sandpaper.

4. Place a drop cloth beneath the anodized aluminum.

5. Coat exposed areas of bare anodized aluminum with galvanized-metal self-etching primer, using a 2- to 3-inch latex paintbrush. Wait four hours for the self-etching primer to dry.

6. Wash the brush with water.

7. Apply touch-up paint to the anodized aluminum, using the clean paintbrush. Wait two hours. Add more paint if the self-etching primer bleeds through.

Play Laser Tag

First conceived by the U.S. military, laser tag has grown to become one of the most popular indoor/outdoor sporting activities. It can be played by children and adults using professional-grade or home-unit specialized equipment. Most laser tag systems consist of a centralized computer controller/scorer, a gun-style "tagger," and sensored vests or headbands that accept infrared "hits." Learn to play this action-packed game in a park, home or public arena.

Instructions

Arm Yourself With Knowledge

1. Suit up before you play. Learn the dress code if you play in an arena or with a professional outdoor laser tag outfit. For instance, most require adequate body coverage in clothing, prohibiting halter tops or open-toed shoes.

2. Get to know the equipment. Watch a demo or ask a friend sight the "tagger" gun and hit a sensor on your opponent's body vest or headband.

3. Learn the legal combat moves. These will be posted in an arena or agreed upon by informal teams. Usually, any physical contact is forbidden, and in some venues, crouching and crawling are also illegal maneuvers.

4. Learn to handle your weapon. Most organized laser tag games have a two-hands firing rule, and most professional tagger guns have LED read-outs with vital information, such as activation status or number of "lives," or points, remaining.

Arm Yourself to Win

5. Start the game with a set number of lives as you enter the field of play, as designated by individual game rules. When you are free to go, you are free to shoot.

6. Attack an opponent. Aim and shoot, and your successful hits, or tags, will be tallied by the computer.

7. Avoid tagger fire. Move randomly or hide to protect your body sensors as you move out into the arena or field of play.

8. Win when you're left with at least one life when time is called.

9. Lose when you've lost all your lives by being tagged. The computer will give you your adjusted score afterwards.

Airsoft Law Information

Airsoft gun laws and restrictions vary in the United States.

Airsoft gun laws vary country to country around the globe. Airsoft guns use gas pellets and are used usually for paintball games. Airsoft guns resemble real firearms and because the result of such could lead to a potentially dangerous circumstance, the United States has implemented laws and policies governing the making, selling, and buying of Airsoft guns.

Age Requirement

Depending on which country an individual resides in, the minimum age requirement varies. For instance, in the United States, the minimum age requirement for buying an airsoft gun is 18 years old while in the United Kingdom, the age is 17 years of age. Also, in the United Kingdom, if the person is between in the ages of 14 and 17, he must be supervised by an adult. If the child is under the age of 14, he cannot buy or use an airsoft gun. The United States does not label airsoft guns as firearms and any individual of any age may use an airsoft gun according to Federal law. Although some states and cities in the United States implement restrictions on the use of airsoft guns or banning airsoft guns altogether.

Display

Because an airsoft gun looks identical to a real gun and is manufactured to be a replica of a real gun, the United States law requires airsoft guns to be in a glass case if they are to be shown in open public. Also, most schools in the United States do not allow airsoft guns because the guns look so real.

Orange Tips

Different countries have different requirements for the appearance of the barrel tips of airsoft guns. For example, the United States requires airsoft gun barrels to be manufactured with a 6mm tip painted the color orange or red to tell it apart from a real gun. France and England do not require any coloring to be made on the barrel tips. Orange barrels help police officers in the United States from mistaking an airsoft gun for a real gun as well as help keep the public from panic if the airsoft gun is publically displayed.

Restrictions

Some restrictions and rules placed on airsoft guns around the globe concern the "maximum muzzle velocity standards, use of trademarks of real firearms, use of unrealistic coloring to distinguish Airsoft guns from actual firearms." If a person uses an airsoft gun to commit a crime, the law will perceive the gun as being an actual firearm and not just a replica.

Safety

If an individual is reckless with the operation of an airsoft gun in the United States, he may be criminally liable, especially if injury or death results. Adult supervision is recommended if a minor is operating an airsoft gun and airsoft guns should not be used in public because it may cause panic or public disturbance. Although it is legal to own and operate an airsoft gun in the United States, some states, cities and counties have restrictions on airsoft guns.

Rail Gun Science Projects

Rail guns use powerful, electronically controlled magnets to accelerate objects.

Rail guns use electromagnets to accelerate objects to great speeds -- generally greater than several times the speed of sound. For this reason, they're a popular topic in science fiction and video games. But rail guns are a real-world phenomenon, and there are many dimensions of rail guns that can be explored in a science project, requiring varying degrees of skill in math, physics and hands-on construction.

Building a Model Rail Gun

One of the best ways to demonstrate the principles behind rail gun technology is to build a model. A low-powered rail gun requires some knowledge of electronics and the materials (like a soldering iron and appropriate capacitors) to put it together, but is an effective -- if dramatic -- science project. Even a nonfunctional model can show the principles behind how a rail gun works.

Uses for Rail Guns

Beyond their use as a future weapon, linear accelerators and electromagnetic catapults using similar technology have been proposed as an alternative to the rockets currently used to lift satellites and people into orbit. A science project exploring the uses of rail guns can look at how they stack up against other orbital technologies. You can explain how much power they require, and whether this is more efficient than existing methods.

Rail Guns in Popular Culture

A fun and engaging science project involving rail guns focuses on their appearances in popular culture. Electromagnetic technology has long been a staple of science fiction. Award-winning author Robert Heinlein proposed using a rail gun or coil gun as a means of transportation in his novel "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" and many video games allow players to wield a "rail gun." A science project can discuss what these depictions get right, what they get wrong and the accuracy of their vision of rail guns.

Current State of Rail Guns

One way to increase understanding of rail guns is to look at the current level of rail gun research, both by governments and by DIY enthusiasts and hobbyists. You can present on possible future applications of rail guns. For example, the United States Navy is considering the development of a line of ships equipped with rail gun technology. Explain what changes have been made in the last decade of research, and where rail gun researchers see the technology developing.

Birthday Party Ideas For Tween Boys

Throw a paintball party for your tween boy.

Tween boys are at an awkward stage between childhood and teenage years where wanting to be cool or trendy is important. There are several tween party ideas and themes that will make both adults and tweens happy. These range from simple, at-home party ideas to more extreme (yet safe) adventures your tween will always remember. Does this Spark an idea?

Scavenger Hunt

Set up a scavenger hunt for all the tween boys. Make it a video scavenger hunt with a list of actions and things that the boys have to videotape. Give each action or item a points value based on how difficult it is to capture. The group or person who earns the most points wins.

Mystery Dinner

Set up a mystery dinner where each guest is assigned an identity, and they must all work to figure out who the mystery murderer is amongst the guests. Tweens will love the excitement and mystery of being a part of a whoddunit.

Paintball

Take the tweens out for a game of paintball. Boys love playing adventure and challenge-based games. Create teams and have the teams face off against one another.

Laser Tag

Play laser tag at a facility set up for the game or at a home residence. Make it more difficult by playing in the dark so no one can see anything besides the laser pointer.

Sporting Event

Take a group of tween boys to a sporting event such as a minor league baseball game or hockey game. Rent out a private room where you can serve food and cake while the boys can still watch the game. They'll enjoy being in the action while also having some freedom to be loud and have fun.

Types Of Paint Gun

Paintball guns come in variety of configurations.

Paintball is a fast-growing and popular sport in which teams or competitors use paint guns to mark one another in games of martial strategy. There are myriad paint guns on the market -- not all are for use in paintball games -- and it helps to know the basic demarcations before jumping in and buying a new paintball gun.

Tree-Marking Paint Gun

Don't confuse these utilitarian implements with the recreational accessories used on the paintball field. According to the U.S. Forest Service, hand-held paint guns are routinely used by Forest Service employees to mark trees in the forest. These types of paint guns may be automatic or manual and, generally, attach to the top of a paint can. They deliver an amount of liquid paint to mark the bark of selected trees, unlike paintball guns that fire plastic capsules filled with marking dye.

Manual/Pump Action Paintball Guns

Manual and pump-action paintball guns are the oldest of the types of paintball guns. These guns must be manually reloaded and cocked between shots, meaning that they have much slower rate of fire than other types of paintball guns. As the sport of paintball has evolved, these types of guns have lost ground to other kinds of guns that bring higher rates of fire to the table, though many beginners start out with manual or pump-action paintball guns. (See Reference 2)

Semiautomatic Paintball Guns

Semiautomatic paintball guns, like real guns, have a higher rate of fire than manual or pump-action paintball weapons. Semiautomatic paintball guns, according to Paintball Time.com, use a variety of means to automatically cycle the action of the gun and load a new paintball into the chamber with each touch of the trigger. With the burden of cocking and recocking after each shot alleviated, players using semiautomatic paintball guns can fire more paintballs in a shorter period of time. (See Reference 2)

Electronic, Full-Auto and Sniper Paintball Guns

Paintball guns have evolved to the point that there are now many variations on the standard gun. Electronic and fully automatic paintball guns can fire paintballs at incredible rates of speed as long as the trigger is depressed. These streams of fire can be tweaked to shoot in bursts, too. Also, longer, more specialized sniper-style paintball guns are on the market that allow players to make long shots on targets far down field from the safety of cover. (See Reference 3)

Charge An R1 Paintball Gun Properly

Paintball is a popular, combat-style sport where players shoot each other with paint.

Viewed by many as an acceptable alternative to actual combat or video games, paintball has been widely played since the 1990s. The REX Paintball R1 gun is a well-respected product for use in paintball games. Though it is not commonly available anymore, it can still be found used and sometimes new, according to Paintball Review. If you happen to have one, charging the device is a standard procedure that should be familiar to anyone who's ever charged a battery.

Instructions

1. Purchase a 7.2 volt battery charger. The appropriate kind will be listed for use with RC cars and airsoft guns. They're available for from $6 to $30 online.

2. Remove the battery pack from the gun. Slide it out from the handle and unhook the plastic plug.

3. Plug the battery into the corresponding plug on the charger. The male end should fit into the female end and lock.

4. Take the power cord from the charger and plug it into the wall. Wait two to three hours, depending on the model you purchased.

5. Unplug the device from the wall. Disconnect the battery and attach it securely to the gun once again.

My Airsoft Gun Stops Working After Firing

If your Airsoft gun stops working, don't panic, just follow a few simple steps.

Airsoft guns come in several different varieties, with some using compressed CO2, others using springs, and others using electricity to fire off BBs. If your gun stops working after a few shots, then chances are you haven't bought a lemon, you just need to make some checks and perform some routine maintenance.

Instructions

1. Charge your battery fully. Electric Airsoft guns use batteries to power the motors that shoot out the BBs, and if the power in the batteries is low, the motors will run slowly or not run at all. Fully charge the battery before attempting to fire your Airsoft gun, and remember that, depending on the model, they may not last that long. If this doesn't work or your Airsoft isn't electric, proceed to Step 2.

2. Fill the magazine. Many Airsoft guns, particularly rifles that fire in bursts, use a magazine that feeds BBs into a hopper that send them into the barrel. If the magazine is low, the BBs may not be properly fed into the gun's mechanisms and as such you'll just be firing blanks. Keep the magazine full to ensure your gun fires a BB every time.

3. Clean and lubricate the gun properly. Even small traces of dirt or grime either in the magazine or in the barrel can prevent BBs from shooting out. The gun should be cleaned after every bag of BBs (400 to 500 rounds) with special cleaning fluid (usually alcohol) and cotton swabs. A clean and lubricated barrel will shoot BBs out much easier.

4. Replace the CO2 cartridge if you're using a gas-powered gun. The compressed CO2 is used to quickly push a BB through the barrel. If the cartridge is running low, there won't be as much force behind the shot and if it runs empty there will be no shot at all.

Aiming Tips For Counter Strike

Originally released as a user-created game mod based upon "Half-Life" in 1999, "Counter-Strike" gained such a strong foothold in the computer gaming community that several retail versions of the game were developed and released thereafter. The game is a team-based first-person shooter wherein players take the roles of terrorists or counter-terrorists. Matches are won by either eliminating the opposing team or completing your team's mission objective. Obviously, in a first-person shooter, proper weapon aiming is essential.

Aim to Kill

The "Counter-Strike" series relies heavily upon positional damage to determine who gains the upper hand in a firefight; that is to say, certain body parts will take more damage than others when shot. Limbs suffer the least amount of damage; the abdomen takes moderate damage; and the head is your opponent's weakest point. When aiming your gun, try to aim at the opponent's chest/neck area. Once you've taken a few shots, recoil should force your weapon up just enough that you'll automatically start shooting at the opponent's head.

Be Wary of Recoil

Every weapon suffers a degree of recoil. Automatic weapons typically suffer the greatest recoil. The longer you shoot your weapon, the less accurate it will become. Likewise, your aim will start moving upwards because of the force. Compensate for this by firing in short controlled bursts instead of going full automatic. This keeps the weapon accurate while simultaneously keeping your crosshairs trained on the target.

Movement Penalizes Accuracy

All types of movement have a negative effect on your current weapon's accuracy. This includes walking, running, strafing, jumping, swimming and climbing ladders. While a moving target is definitely more difficult to hit, keep in mind that erratic movement isn't without consequence. While engaging an enemy, it is often much better to stand your ground and take well-placed shots instead of strafing back and forth and firing wildly.

Build A Tripod For A Paintball Gun

A tennis ball can become a pellet gun tripod.

A paintball gun can suffer from inaccurate aim as easily as any other hand weapon. You can build a portable tripod that will help to steady the paintball gun each time you pull the trigger. A few household items are needed, as is adult supervision if the person making the tripod is a minor, since sharp cutting edges are used. Your portable tripod will detach from the paintball gun when it is not needed and fit back into your pocket.

Instructions

1. Cut the plastic ruler at the 6-inch mark using the utility knife. Discard one of the two cut halves of the plastic ruler.

2. Place newspaper down on a work surface. Place the tennis ball down on the newspaper. Hold the tennis ball down with the left hand while cutting through its circumference with the utility knife being held in the right hand.

3. Put a piece of wax paper down on the newspaper. Place both tennis ball halves on the wax paper with the fuzzy side facing up. Shake the can of black spray paint. Spray the tennis ball halves. Let the paint dry for three hours.

4. Place the cut half of the ruler on the wax paper. Shake the can of black spray paint. Spray the ruler. Let the paint dry for three hours. Turn the ruler over. Spray the ruler. Let the paint dry for three hours. Throw the wax paper away.

5. Make a mark on one side of one of the tennis ball halves with the red magic marker. Make a second mark about a half inch away from the first with the red magic marker.

6. Move 1 1/2 inches around the tennis ball half. Make a mark with the red magic marker on the side of the tennis ball half. Make another mark about a half inch away from the first.

7. Move 1 1/2 inches around the tennis ball half and repeat the process of making two marks with the red magic marker.

8. Flatten down the tennis ball half with your left hand. Cut in a straight line through the space between the two lines of the marks made on the tennis ball half with the utility knife using your right hand. Discard the excess of the tennis ball half.

9. Place a quarter at the top center of the tennis ball half. Cut around the quarter with the utility knife.

10. Place the other tennis ball half down on the newspaper with the fuzzy size up. Draw a circle on one side that is about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Draw another circle the same way on another side of the tennis ball half.

Difference Between Recon & Force Recon

The U.S. Marine Corps usually is characterized as the elite fighting force among American military branches. However, the Corps formed special units populated with troops who qualify as the most capable of completing covert missions. These units are battalion reconnaissance and force reconnaissance, or Recon and Force Recon for short. Both of these special units share some similarities, but they perform different roles in the Marine Corps.

Recon Marine Training

Every Recon Marine starts out as an infantry rifleman. First, a recruit must go through 13 weeks of basic training, followed by about a month of training at the school of infantry (SOI). After SOI, if a Marine has requested to enter a Recon unit, he must go through the selection and training process. Before he is allowed to attempt the basic reconnaissance course (BRC), the prospective Recon Marine must attain at least 105 points on the General Technical (GT) section of the Armed Services Vocational Ability Battery (ASVAB), score a first-class in the physical fitness test (PFT), and achieve an expert marksmanship badge. Also, the Marine must not be colorblind, nor should he have any moral or drug waivers. Finally, he should have eyesight that is correctable to 20/20, and he should be able to attain a secret clearance. If he passes the BRC, then he is considered a basic Reconnaissance Marine. From there, he receives additional schooling, which includes airborne jump master, mountain warfare and assault climber, and close-quarters battle training (CQB).

Force Recon Training

Before a Battalion Recon Marine is even invited to take part in the Force Recon indoctrination program (RIP), he must have at least three to four years of field experience and possess a PFT score of 285 out of 300 points. The RIP lasts for 48 hours and consists of a grueling battery of swimming and running courses, plus forced marching while carrying a 50-pound rucksack. If the Marine can make it through these courses, he is then interviewed and assessed for personality issues and compatibility with the Force Recon culture. Once selected, Force Recon inductees must attend Amphibious Reconnaissance School (ARS).

Roles of the Recon Marine

Recon Marines act as elite forward-operating troops who are the "eyes and ears" of their respective battalion or division. If intelligence is required for certain geographical areas, and data cannot be attained through deployment of observation drones or other electronic methods of reconnaissance, Recon Marines are sent to observe, collect information and communicate to their units any relevant intelligence. Often sent out in small groups, Recon Marines may sometimes take direct action or engage the enemy with weapons as necessary.

Roles of the Force Recon Marine

Force Recon Marines also can accomplish basic reconnaissance activities, but they are trained to partake in clandestine, unconventional attacks against an enemy. Their main job is deep reconnaissance, which means that they engage in long-range surveillance to evaluate enemy strengths, analyze geographical terrain and gather other information useful to the unit's command. Long-range surveillance missions are more dangerous because they are located far into unfriendly territory. Although the Marine Special Operations Regiment (MSOR), created in 2007, had taken over the duties of operations involving direct action against enemy troops and installations, Force Recon Marines are called upon if Marine Special Ops teams are not available. Marine Force Recon is comparable to the Navy SEALs and the Army's Special Forces.

Difference Between An Hk & Cetme Bolt

This Heckler and Koch PSG-1 uses the same roller-lock bolt as the CETME rifle.

The Heckler and Koch (HK) G3 rifle was adopted by West Germany in 1959 and is based on the Spanish-made CETME Model A rifle. CETME is an acronym for the Spanish name of the second weapon's developer, Center for Technical Studies of Special Materials. The CETME and the HK G3 rifles operate on the same roller delayed blowback system, which is an alternative to direct blowback.

"Blowback" refers to the operation of a rifle bolt as the weapon is fired. Tremendous pressure propels the bullet forward, and the bolt seals the rear of the barrel, preventing gasses from causing damage to the gun's chamber, where the bullet feeds into the barrel. The bolt can be held forward by a spring and heavy bolt, which keeps the chamber sealed, or by the delayed blowback used in the HK G3, in which the bolt absorbs the cartridge's inertia until the bullet leaves the barrel.

Bolt Compatibility

The rifle bolts on the HK G3 and CETME Model A aren't interchangeable without expert modification. Although the bolts operate the same way, minor design variations prevent compatibility. Both use the same roller and roller plates, but the HK bolt head is longer than the one on the CETME rifle.

Warning

A rifle bolt is a site of extreme pressure, and changing the entire assembly can be difficult and dangerous. If the complete bolt carrier is replaced with one from a different rifle--even of the same model--the "headspace" may differ enough to make the weapon unsafe. This is the space between the closed breech of the gun and the surface where the cartridge sits. When replacing a rifle bolt carrier, the spacing must be checked before firing.

Considerations

Compatible parts on the CETME Model A and HK rifles include the firing pin and firing pin spring, trigger assembly, recoil spring, and the cocking handle and spring.

Flower Camo Gifts For A Girl

You can find just about anything in camo print.

The camouflage pattern has become a very popular look, even when it is not for utilitarian purposes. You can now find camo in a wide variety of colors and fabrics, many perfectly suited for girls. If you are looking to give a camo-themed gift to a woman in your life, consider incorporating flowers into the design.

Faux Flowers

Faux flowers made in a wide variety of colors and fabrics are available these days. Scout out a bouquet of camouflage roses in silk or satin to display in a vase. If you are giving this gift to a fashionista, it can do double-duty in her wardrobe. Include pins so she can attach the flowers to headbands, shirts or bags. While camo flowers might be a tough find in a traditional flower shop, you are likely to find plenty of options online. Just give yourself enough time to have the gift delivered.

Flower Baskets

Locate camouflage ribbon, scarves and other materials at your local craft or fabric store. Wrap the handle of a plain basket in the ribbon. Cover the outside of the basket with a larger piece of camo fabric and pin it in place. Fill the basket with fresh flowers for an elegant camo-themed gift. To display the flowers, remove the ribbon from the basket's handle and tie it around a vase before you put the flowers inside.

Camo-Colored Prints

For a looser interpretation of camo, consider floral prints in basic camouflage colors. You can find clothing, accessories, bathing suits and even art in floral prints of army green, brown and tan. You can even go in the opposite direction and find camouflage in bright, floral colors. Since camo is such a popular print, you can find just about anything in these colors.

Difference Between Airsoft & Bb Guns

Airsoft guns are used for gaming, while BB guns are used for target practice or small game hunting.

Airsoft and BB guns are both extremely popular hobby guns. Both types of guns function similarly, look dramatically like real guns and are easy to purchase and operate. However, this is where the similarities end. Airsoft guns and BB guns are far different, and confusing them could be very dangerous.

Uses

Airsoft guns are strictly used for recreational purposes, and airsoft games are exceedingly popular among enthusiasts. Airsoft pellets are relatively harmless and do not cause bodily harm, so airsoft games are warlike and involve shooting at opponents similar to paintball games. Some popular airsoft games include manhunt (one player is hunted by the rest of the players), last player standing (last player alive wins), hostage rescue and capture the flag. For more information on these games, check out The Airsoft Gun website at www.theairsoftgun.net/airsoft-game-types/index.php.

A BB gun, on the other hand, shoots hard pellets and is much more powerful than an airsoft gun. It can cause bodily damage and should never be shot at another person. Thus, a BB gun cannot be used in war games like an airsoft gun. BB guns are useful for shooting pests and small game. Target shooting and plinking tin cans are classic uses for BB guns.

History

BB guns have been used for more than 100 years in the United States. They were invented by Clarence Hamilton in 1886. The guns quickly became very popular and were produced by Daisy Manufacturing Company, Inc. They were marketed as a young boy's gun. The most popular BB gun of all was the Daisy Red Rider, of which more than 9 million units have been sold.

The Airsoft gun is a much more recent development. It was developed in Japan in the 1980s as a legal way to enjoy shooting in a country where guns were banned. They were first marketed in the United States in the 1980s as a safe alternative to BB guns but didn't gain popularity. Daisy began marketing airsoft guns in the United States in 2003, and this time the concept took off to make airsoft gaming a popular sport.

Restrictions

While there are no license requirements for owning an airsoft gun in the United States, you must be at least 18 years old to purchase one. It's also required that airsoft guns have an orange tip to distinguish it from a real gun.

BB gun restrictions vary by state. There are no national rules or regulations, or age limits. The only state listing a BB gun rule on the NRA website is Delaware, where it is illegal for a parent to permit their child to possess a firearm, airsoft gun or BB gun except under direct adult supervision.

Firing Power

BB guns are much more powerful that airsoft guns and shoot 91 to 152.4 meters per second. This is enough to cause bodily harm. They shoot small, metal pellets called BBs.

Airsoft guns, on the other hand, shoot at a speed of 55 to 91 meters per second. This is generally not fast enough to cause bodily harm. They shoot small 6mm or 8mm plastic pellets.

Safety

Basically, airsoft guns have softer pellets and shoot at muzzle velocities considered non-lethal, while BB guns shoot hard pellets at higher muzzle velocities that can be lethal.

Airsoft guns are fun, recreational tools that can be used safely by both adults and supervised children. There is little risk of injury, and airsoft guns can be safely used in shooting games.

Although historically marketed as a children's gun, BB guns should only be used by children with close adult supervision. They can be deadly if misused.
